re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine

Ahh okay thanks for the info guys. On the one hand, it was quite a few years ago, but on the other hand, "I hate that musical"...seems pretty definite. Oh well.

Actually...now I don't know much about JCS...I have the original recording and I watched the...movie/video of the revival production in...2003 maybe? A little earlier? But with briefly what I know...Jesus/Judas slash doesn't seem that off. I mean, if you don't like the idea of any sexual relationships with this material, that's one thing, but I always thought...especially as Judas repeats "I don't know how to love him" and stuff like that...within the context of the show, I got the impression that Judas had...some...feelings for Jesus. But I'm certainly not a JCS expert.

Honestly, commenting as a non-religious person and from as objective as a standpoint that I can, I really don't see Judas/Jesus homosexual undertones in JCS. The "I don't know how to love him" line in "Judas's Death" always struck me as a line sung out of desperation -- a reflection of Judas's nebulous feelings and overall confusion regarding his relationship with Jesus, not as anything remotely sexual.

I'm not trying to correct you or say that my opinion is right -- I've just never interpreted the Judas/Jesus dynamic in that manner before. If Rice and ALW wanted to imply true sexual tension between the men, I think they would have made it at least somewhat more explicit.

I've never seen JCS, but it was the musical at my school this year, and I know the kid that played Judas. I'll have to ask him about this. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine

Okay I must go back and read so I can find out why everyone's talking about Jesus/Judas slash...

So far this break for me has consisted of a)still feeling like sh*t and b) writing a research paper. I don't even think I'm going to be able to catch a show. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine

Welcome to the ICU, Chloe. Hopefully we'll all be back on our feet soon.

I forgot to tell you guys a story. On my bus ride home there was a girl sitting behind me who was SO obnoxious on her cell phone. One of those people who talks at full volume and you can tell she WANTS you to hear her conversation. Anyway, in the middle of it she goes "Oh my God, I had the weirdest dream last night about Adam Pascal". I nearly fell out of my seat. She then proceeded to talk about how she was so upset that she'd missed Cortland. I contemplated turning around and telling her that if she'd shut up I'd tell her all about the concert. But I'm way too passive agressive for that. Anyway, I thought I'd share.

I wish I was going to the mall....I have to go to the library for more research.

But if I get enough done I'm going to treat myself to some DVD shopping. :)

And yes, it was weird, but also kind of cool. Even though she was annoying, it was like "yay, someone's talking about Adam." It made me smile once I got over the initial surprise.

Aw, yay! At least you won't risk losing everything, should something get worse. Have you tried contacting the company you bought your computer from? When something goes wrong with mine, I immediately call Dell.

Today I'm taking a workout class, doing some cleaning so my mom won't kill me, then I have to go and buy my friend a birthday present. What do you get for a 17 year old who's generally on the quiet side?

Mine is a compaq presario. In the booklet they give me internet sites to contact, no phone numbers. The other problem is today is Good Friday so everything is closed. I'm going to try and get my friend to help me take my tower to future shop tomorrow.

At least you won't lose everything, Sarah.

I've been listening to the Hair Actors Fund Concert album, and I've been noticing some similarities between it and Rent. "Ain't Got No" sounds a bit like "La Vie Boheme." And "Hashish" and "Contact" seem to have similar structures lyrically.

I wonder if Jonathan Larson was influenced by Hair at all, or if these are just coincidences developed by my crazy mind...

A lot of people say that Rent was 'the Hair of the 90s'. They usually just mean it in the sense that they were both phenomenons, but there are some other similarities.

Lyrically and musically, I hear a lot of similarities. But I've never read anything that actually points out that he was influenced by Hair.

Heh, "Walking In Space" is on right now, and I'm loving the vocal harmonies, especially at the end.

I am just SO ready for senior year to be over. I want to kill me Bio teacher. How the hell does she expect us to read almost 200 pages in our book by Tuesday? That's ridiculous. It's her fault we're weeks behind and the exam is in 2 weeks. I want this stupid college decision thing to be over, too.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine. I hate it when teachers assign unreasonable homework. Are you leaning towards a particular school?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine

Ugh. Elphie. I'm in the same boat as you with Bio. All of a sudden he's started giving us so much work, and keeps telling us that we're so behind. It's not our fault that he doesn't know how to teach.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine

I'm sorry, you guys. I really don't understand what the deal is in that situation, though, at all. I feel like with most AP classes, by this time of year, the teachers either scramble to get everything in, or they keep going at a fair pace, but they don't *get* to everything, because the exams are just too early. And furthermore, then you have like a month to do nothing because you've already taken the exam.

I think the timing is as such because schools in other regions (South, West, primarily) begin and end a month earlier, so they need to schedule the exams to fit that, right?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine

Yeah, that's why they're so early. All of my IB tests are in May too.

On the plus side, I'll only have to go to school for gym for the final 6 weeks of my senior year.
