Off to rehearsal....groan. When am I EVER going to find time to write my papers? Good luck, everyone, with exams.
I saw a pineapple shaped vase in a magazine today and I tried to convince my mom to buy it, but she says no one on earth would want a vase like that. I told her I would and she just laughed.

That's quite an expression.
Sorry for the threadjack-I currently have ace bandages and ice packs on BOTH of my calves. I guess I did one too many calf raises the other night. It also probably wasn't a good idea to practice my high kicks without stretching first.

It looks like Cybele is going to be on Martha this Thursday:
April 20, 2006
Barry Watson
From the new ABC series, What About Brian, Barry Watson visits Martha and makes musical instruments out of common household materials that his son—and other kids—will enjoy. And hear his thoughts on the end of Seventh Heaven, a family favorite that he starred in for years. Then, Cybele Pascal, author of The Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook and mother of children with allergies, makes allergy-free Rolled Maple Sugar Cookies.

Hey Chloe!
Sounds cool. Does anyone know how long the cooking segment on Martha usually lasts? Also, is it at the beginning or end of the show? I'm assuming it's at the end based on the way the show preview is worded.
Oh, Lexi. I think Larry does not like me.

Aww. But you're young and pretty! He should!
Did he write a nasty response or just fail to reply at all?
Perhaps it is his management or his webmaster running his MySpace, though.
I don't know, Lexi, I've never watched the show, but maybe I'll check it out tomorrow. it does look like the cooking segment comes second.
Angela, Cybele has been a playwright for quite a while also. She went to Columbia grad school and was in residence at Juilliard the last two years. She's had a lot of workshops and small productions of her plays. She's said she also considered pursuing cooking professionally.
No reply.
Maybe he wants to check with Adam about what, if anything, to say.

Pardon me for barging in-- Chloe, your comment made me laugh. I wonder if he checked with Adam before he (Larry) posted all those tour dates on his website when (apparently) they weren't finalized!

But... the point of messaging Larry was to squeak out a few details from him that Adam wouldn't give us! Heh.
Chloe, is she still in residence? I would imagine that would be difficult when combined with writing a cookbook and a book tour.
Well, tour dates are one thing, but a new CD is a little more sensitive. Probably Adam has told us everything he knows about it himself at this point anyway. He has hopefully written some new songs in the last few years, but won't know which of them will be on the album until he starts working on it. We do know that he's aiming for a more piano-based sound, and that he's not interested in a really heavy rock sound anymore.

Lexi, I think our "double quote" of Chloe may have killed the thread.
On the plus side, I see Nun!Adam is back although now s/he is carrying a Swiss flag and seems to be wandering about in the Anthony thread. Mandi Moo, you are my hero...
Edit: Yay, we didn't kill the thread! Hey, Chloe!
I don't think any of us have heard any of Cybele's plays. They've either been out of town or under our radar.
That's a cute fantasy. Actually, Adam has said they met at the Nantucket Film Festival. He was there as one of the actors doing readings of screenplays, and she was a coordinator for that event. That was in 1997.

Chloe, you're absolutely dead on, I'm sure. Although, who knows-- it's always helpful when somebody puts some kind of publicity out there, just to keep the buzz going.
Picturetaker, you're too funny. I recall reading in some interview that Adam laughingly said he was waiting for Cybele to write him a good part in one of her plays!
Chloe, you're so good with the interview stuff-- did I dream that or do you recall having read that as well?
Chloe = the human Google. And we love her for it

Hey, has anyone else listened to Daphne's Podcast? Or did I miss that discussion...
I keep planning on listening to it, but haven't done it yet. ::income taxes::
You all are very sweet. Kim, I do remember that, I think it was an interview in something like the Washington Square Courier (I may have made up that name.)
And speaking of googling, I just checked out the Juilliard program:
The Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program, under the direction of Christopher Durang and Marsha Norman, is a one-year program with the opportunity to return for a second year of training as a playwright-in-residence.
I believe Cybele was there 2002 - 2004, but she's still connected in some way, since she just had a play done there.

Chloe, thanks for double checking me-- glad I didn't make that up!
That sounds right about the playwrite in residence-- I think the artist in residence programs are usually a year or two.
RE: Daphne's podcast, it's interesting. The interviewer makes mention of how she asked Anthony whether there were any hook ups during the original run of Rent, and Anthony of course demurred. So the interviewer (the same chatty one) asked Daphne whether there were any love matches.
Daphne replied something like, "Oh, yes, of course, that always happens. We were madly in love." But she never says *who* she was apparently in love with.
We assume it was Adam (well, I did, anyway), but no actual confirmation there...
Sorry about the taxes, Chloe. Are they in the mail?
Edit: I agree, Picturetaker-- I thought the podcast was very interesting. Daphne certainly puts it all right out there!
My tax returns are now in cyberspace, thanks! I use a tax program and file electronically, so I don't even have to worry about making it to the post office. It's a big load off my mind to have them done.
Very interesting about Daphne. I would assume it was Adam too - who else? I've always had a theory that "The One That Got Away" was written about Daphne. What do you all think?

Chloe, I wondered the same thing... actually, I've wondered how much of Model Prisoner (the CD) may have been written about Daphne & how much about Cybele. Facinating fodder for speculation!
Edit: Yay! Tax season is now officially closed for Chloe!!

I haven't heard the podcast yet so I can't judge, but are you sure she didn't say it with a hint of facetiousness to her voice? That reply sounds like something I'd say if I wanted to opt out of answering a question like that -- instead of saying, "Well, I can't really talk about that," I'd probably opt to say something along the lines of, "Oh my God, YES, I was COMPLETELY enamored!"
Regarding Daphne's last show: I believe Daphne was already with her now-husband at the time, but I'm sure she and Adam retained a close bond (even if it wasn't romantic at any time).
