re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine

Cone? Or Damon?

Well, I believe what WRQ was trying to say is that since Yankee fans had enough class to give David Cone (a now-retired pitcher) a standing ovation when he went to the Red Sox after playing with the Yanks, the Boston fans should have the same amount of class and give Damon a standing ovation in return for what he did for their team.

However, even I have to admit that they're quite different circumstances. Damon is still in the prime of his career, and Cone basically went to Boston after his career had largely fallen apart.

I read David Cone's book a few years ago and was a bit bored by it, although I think I was expecting some of his more scandalous stories that he became somewhat infamous for to be revealed in print.

... I'm sorry, this is going to totally kill the thread.

Not quite Siamese.

What they did for their teams were different, and I wouldn't expect Boston fans to stand for Johnny Damon, but it's opposite sides of the spectrum to throw things at him while we give Cone a standing O.

Really, it's all in fun. My teasing, not-totally-serious way of saying how Yankee fans have more class re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine

Well, you're "teasing" the long-suffering underdogs' loyal fans. I guess Yankees fans don't have any class either.

As a red sox fan, I have to say that it was quite a heart breaking offseason (then add the Patriots offseason, oye!). So, we're all recovering still. Most fans understand the business side, but Johnny was ... our Johnny. Good guy, but I'm not sure if I would give the standing O.

Oh cry me a river, they beat the Yankees and won the World Series.

Teasing/taunting is a natural part of sports, especially for intense fans of rivalries like Yankees/Red Sox, or Yankees/Mets. My whole family consists of Met fans, and I always hear worse about Yankees, Yankees' fans, Steinbrenner, pick any player and how he looks like a monkey, my mom has bad nicknames for all the players, etc.

Then you learn to deal and have fun pointing out fallacies in their taunting. Like in 2001, during spirit week, one of our days was wear your favorite teams' sports jersey day. So a particularly cocky Met fan came up to me in my Yankees' jersey and said, "so wearing that jersey of the team that didn't win the World Series, huh?" Me: "Yup. So are you." Him: "that's...uhh...umm...true."

Thanks for the link!

Most of those don't seem like they were taken from the front row. Maybe she got some of the extra unexpected tickets?

Anyway, awesome pics!

Yes they did turn out great.

ETA: Remember when I brought up there being a smoking area at the RENT 10 after party? Here's where I got that from. It's a video that I didn't actually look at, just saw a couple of frames from it. Looks like it was outside.

The underdog making fun of the champ is one thing. The champ making fun of the underdog is just tacky and low-class.

Katt, I think those were some of the leftover rear mezz seats that they pulled during the lotto.

I remember that during the whole rest of Goodbye Love, Adam couldn't even look in Jesse's direction; they were both just too upset.
