I would like to have done the whole conversation, but it was kinda long. I love it, though! I was listening to the Broadway version today.
Can I just say that I love Charlie Rose? I think that I'm actually giong to take the opportunity to watch a lot of his interviews today. And, re: the Rent one: aww, they're all so young! I love this.

It's interesting to see that Anthony hogged the conversation even back in the day.
At least most of what he's got to say is interesting.
Adam has been a bit quiet, but he's not one to talk too much.
I'm all for exactitude, bwaygirl, so thanks for the correction.
Adam talked about as much as most of them, I think, just not much at the beginning. I liked what he had to say about how the show was a look into someone else's soul, and he felt privileged that it was someone as brilliant as Jonathan Larson. Here are links for anyone who hasn't seen this yet, though I should clarify that the Rent segment is the same in both shows, only the first part changes.

Really? It seemed like both Daphne and Adam were out-talked by everyone else, but I'm not sure if that was exactly anyone's fault or why I'm lamenting this ten years too late.
Adam mouthing "damn" to Daphne after they showed his clip was hilarious.
I loved Adam's reaction to the clip... isn't it sort of strange that they hadn't seen the press reel footage up until then?
Well, let me put it this way - Adam didn't speak for as long as the others, but about as many times, it seemed to me. So he said "damn?" I knew he muttered something there.
I did a bunch of screencaps since this won't be around long, I gather. These three are from Adam's last close-ups.
ETA: Why aren't these showing up? I guess I'll have to do it the hard way.

Hm, that might be true. Maybe he's just succinct. (I know you like that word! ) And it looked like he muttered "damn" to Daphne after the clip, but I'm obviously not entirely sure.
Speaking of interviews, I wish we'd get Adam's podcast someday. I actually emailed the siteforrent.com webmaster asking if they were planning on posting any others, but I doubt I'll receive a response.
*snort* What is he wearing?
Hah I know
Here's a full picture. It should make us thankful to see how much he's improved.
ETA: Lexi, I doubt if he did a podcast. What with his tour, moving and getting ready for Rent 10, he probably felt he didn't have enough time to do something he probably wasn't real eager to do in the first place.

Did anyone else notice that he had black nail polish on only one hand?
It just seemed odd that the site originally mentioned that they were going to feature a podcast with him, only to never feature it. Additionally, Daphne did hers over the phone, and it was all of ten minutes long. I can't imagine that he wouldn't have time to have a conversation ten minutes long over the phone. I also thought they'd end the series of podcasts with someone other than the show's producer, but who knows?

::back from the gym, which I wish meant that there's a new, svelt me, but sadly, not::
Yes, the black nail polish on one hand was part of the Roger look, though I'm not sure that he started out with it.
The podcast thing reminds me of Adam's concert at the Knitting Factory. Someone in the audience apparently reminded him that he had promised to sing Cellophane Sun next time, and he said that as many people there knew (and I believe all the male Rent movie cast members were there), he made promises all the time and then didn't follow through. He probably said he would do the podcast and then couldn't find a convenient time for it.
eta: The r/j productions site now lists a second show for Adam here in the fall, this one for Oct. 14 in Flushing!

I didn't realize he was only wearing nail polish on one hand, I thought it was both. Adam had such good style choices back in the day.
Chloe: You just made my day!! My family always goes there because of Chinatown & stuff. After finding out that I couldn't go to Broadway Under the Stars, this is like a super huge fudge sundae.

Aw, I'm sure you look great!
Hah, most likely. That all seems so completely foreign to me, as someone who almost always follows through on what I say I'm going to do.

Wow, that's great news! Can you post a link to that website again?
Here it is Lexi & everybody else:

Thanks Angela, that's the one.
I don't know whose idea the Rent nail polish was, but it was definitely part of the costume. Other Rogers have had it too. In the Cabaret Chatterbox Adam calls attention to the fact that this is his second show with nail polish, the first being Rent.
Did anyone else notice that Daphne mentioned love as something she had gotten from working on the show?
I noticed that, too, Chloe, but I also tend to read into everything. *shrugs*
It seemed a little bit ironic that Daphne talked about how before Rent she saw traditional musical theatre as insubstantial and totally not something she'd want to be involved in, since she'll be playing Fantine in Les Mis this fall. Then again, that was years ago, and obviously opinions change.
They certainly do, as we Adam fans know. She's had quite a theater career, including straight plays. She seemed uncharacteristically inarticulate on the Charlie Rose show, but maybe she was worn out from all the hoopla.

Hah, add me to the list of who noticed that (re: Daphne). Do you think she was talking in a specific or general sense, though? Her statement, much like what she said in her podcast interview, is somewhat vague (perhaps intentionally so).
Ashley, I also noticed what she said about traditional musical theatre and smiled a bit. I'm still not sold on the idea of her as Fantine, but I'm hoping that some of us threadheads can catch Les Mis this fall together.
I also have noticed in that video and some other Adam things that he wore a ring on his left ring finger pre-1998. He played with it a lot in the Charlie Rose clip, so maybe it was new? Daphne had a ring on that finger too ... Was she engaged yet at that point?

Are the dates Angela posted definite? Bayshore
I wish I knew, Alex. That site is quite uninformative, and seems to be more for people in the business than the public. When someone first found it several months ago, it listed five or so dates that Adam would be performing in the tri-state area. Then suddenly it was down to the one in Bay Shore. It's been like that for a long time, and I've wondered if the remaining date were just a mistake or computer glitch. The fact that they've now added (or added back) another date gives me hope that it's for real.
