I introduced her and now we're both in love with him.
You're doing a good job of spreading the love.
I wish there were more to talk about tonight.

Chloe -- I wanted to let you know that I finally watched The Night of the Hunter, the movie you recommended a few weeks ago. I think the best adjective to describe it would be stunning, both visually and with regards to the acting performances. I thought the most hard-hitting scene was the honeymoon scene between Willa and Harry which was, at least for me, so completely haunting and terrifying, even more so than the scenes directly pertaining to death. I'd say that the film was a real treat, although I'm not sure if that's the best description to tack onto this type of film. It was great to get some exposure to film noir, as I really haven't explored that category before.
That's great to hear - it's been a long time since I've seen it myself, but certain images really stick in my mind, like the spider web in the foreground as the kids float down the river. That whole sequence is probably the most haunting for me.
As we discussed when this first came up, I don't think of this as strictly film noir. It seems to belong in a category of its own. Unfortunately it was not at all appreciated in its own time, so this is the only film Charles Laughton, who was well known as an actor, got to direct. I always remember stories like that when something I really like isn't received well.
Hey everybody
I just finished watching So You Think You Can Dance. It was basically the hottest thing ever. Anybody else watch it?
The Adam Pascal Online site has a new layout & stuff, so you guys can check that out.

That was great. I was really impressed by Laughton's directorial choices in general. I'm not sure if you'll remember this specific scene, but having Harry and Ms. Cooper sing the religious hymn in unison while divided by the wall of the house was another one of those haunting effects.

Heh, I don't even remember having that discussion. It's amazing how I can retain an ungodly amount of memories about a few select people or things, but when it comes to remembering things in general, I'm not so good.
Anyway, thanks again for recommending the film. It's always great to see not only a good movie, but one that is truly outstanding and unique in so many aspects.
I've always heard about what a great film that is, but I've never seen it. With such glowing endorsements here, though, I'm definitely going to have to put it on my "to rent" list. It sounds fascinating, and I tend to like film noir if it's in that vein.

You really should. We tend to like similar things, so I have no doubt that you'll at least appreciate it, even if you don't find that the style of film is exactly for you.

So...this is completely off topic and random, but since I'm having trouble...
Anyone ever had to do a 40's hair style? I'm attempting to find something for a performance this weekend...needless to say, between little info, and my lack of "hair doing" abilities, its proving to be rather special...
Angela, thanks for the heads up. At first I thought you got confused because I know adam-pascal.com is also changing layouts, but you're right. For the main page Cassie is now using an interesting picture from the WeSparkle benefit, in which Adam looks out directly with that slightly challenging gaze he has.
I'm going to post a few pictures from Night of the Hunter in a moment. The cinematography is outstanding.
Sorry Amber, I'm the last person to ask about hairstyles. Wait, one thing comes to mind - the Vermont Country Store, which carries all kinds of old-fashioned stuff, has a French Hair Roll. It's a form you can use to wrap around the lower base of your head. Here's the page:
ETA: except you probably don't have enough time to get it from them - sorry!

It's alright, any idea is a better one than I have!
I'm doing an experiment at the moment to see if I can even slightly get what I'm looking for...I look like a monster who's been attacked by hot rollers!
Night of the Hunter images:
Oh wow, Chloe, those are really gorgeous. Very, very striking.
I watched The Constant Gardener for the first time today, and one of my favorite things about it (besides Ralph Fiennes and the divine Rachel Weisz) was the cinematography. It's obviously worlds different from that in Night of the Hunter, but it just made me think of how important cinematography can be to a film.

Looks like a cool movie Chloe. The screencaps are beautiful.
I'm not a fan of the new layout over at Adam Pascal Online. I just don't like that picture of him, it's not the best. =/

I like it. I'm probably waxing a bit too much poetic in saying this, but it kind of captures the essence of him, in a way. It's very Adam.

Hey,
Sorry that this is off topic (though it is Adam related so I guess it's not...haha). But I was just wondering if there was a place were I could read the lyrics from Adam's days in Mute and The Adam Pascal Band? I'm sorry if this has been asked, but I've searched and I can't find anything.
Thanks, now you may resume your discussions.
I always think of Ingrid Bergman when I think of '40s hairstyles, Amber, but I doubt that's really doable unless your hair is that length already. This website looks kind of promising, though: http://www.nocturne.com/swing/hair/hair.html
I know someone linked some AP Band lyrics over on the Adam LJ community a little while ago, so if you go back a few pages you might find it. I have the Mute lyrics, but it'll take me a while to gather them together. I'll PM you with them.

I don't even know what a 40's hairstyle would look like!
I'd be interested in reading some of the Adam Pascal Band lyrics other than the lyrics of the songs featured on the demo CD. In fact, I'd probably just prefer reading the lyrics to hearing the actual songs. Adam's solo work isn't even the type of music I usually like, but from what I've heard of APB, their music was so far removed from anything I enjoy.

I found a young Andrews Sisters/Liz Taylor sort of thing that'll work...
That's right. For the first time ever, in an attempt to style my hair out of the norm, it worked. Let this day go down in history...it probably won't happen again!
I love it when I can find a style that works for my hair, because it doesn't happen too often. What can you do when you have thin, curly, hair?

Wanna have some of mine? Thick, curly hair...the blessing and the curse.
I think my hair like, multiplies by the fistful anytime I want to do something with it...like right now...just when I think I've gotten it all!
My hair is extremely thin, but there's alot of it. I can basically wear it curly, straight(which is a pain in the butt to do), or in a ponytail. I did not get the good hair gene in my family

Broadway.com is not working for me. I did a search for a video, it goes to the page. No video.
Which one are you looking for? I have some links saved, so maybe that will work better.
