Thanks, you too Chloe. It's going to be a hectic weekend for me as well. I am going to Las Vegas on July 7th! I can't wait! Some of my family lives out there and we havn't visited once yet, since they come out to NY a lot. My uncle can get me free tickets to see Celine Dion and Elton John, so i'm SO excited for that.
Lucky you Alex! I've heard that the Celine Dion show is suppose to be really popular. So it's awesome that you can get free tickets.

Elton John live...doesn't get much better than that (unless Billy Joel is touring with him!)
I seriously hate stupid people...then again, who doesn't?
I'm trying to figure out what to cook for lunch....hmmmm

I'm really excited. I havn't been on vacation in a long time. I wish Billy Joel was going to be there! haha..I can dream. I can't wait for all the roller coasters. Hah..i'm a freak =P
Ah, you get to see Elton's "Red Piano" show. It's supposed to be great. Be sure to tell us all about it when you get back!
Hello, I just came on to say that I'm going to be gone until the 10th. I'm visiting my grandparents in Florida. I might have access to a computer there, but I'm not sure. So if you don't hear from me in a while, you know where I am.
Have a great time - I know Florida is brutal this time of year, so I hope you'll be close to the ocean.

Have fun dancin! We'll miss you!
Oh I will Chloe
Adam Pascal Online has updated its gallery w/ a new favorite picture of mine.
Nice picture, Angela. I can never see those NYC set pictures without remembering how freezing cold it was at that point in March. The production staff must have been assuming it would be in the 30s or 40s, but no, it was down in the teens.
Wow, I haven't been on here in...forever. I just wanted to tell Alex that I'm going to be leaving for Vegas on the 6th. We're actually staying at Caesar's, but we're not seeing Celine. I would love to see her, but my husband would probably rather be impaled with something very, very sharp.
I saw Elton John when he was on tour with Billy Joel a couple years ago. It was a great show! I hope you have fun.

It's getting hard to get used to your new avatar picturetaker. You had the other one for so long!

Hey! I don't think I've been here in a while.
Odd as this may sound, I was looking at the past couple of pages. Would anyone mind if I brought up the discussion of "Just here to the left of you" (the line) again? I'm a serious geek for symbolism, archetypes and mythology, and most of you probably know that "right" and "left" have special significance in many cultures. I could spout a lot more if anyone's interested.
Don't you love how a single line - heck, a single word - can spark so many ideas?
Edit: Just my luck; I try to start a conversation when no one's around! Ah well.

Alex- I'm also still trying to get used to it! I just adore both Adam & Anthony
I wish I had tomorrow off, but my camp is annoying like that. Hope everybody had a great weekend
ETA: I was just thinking about the Just Here to the Left of You discussion & what Zyla said about left & right being important in cultures. I was thinking about like a wedding cake or during a wedding ceremony, the guy is always on the left. Something about like support & stuff like that.

Back again!
Thanks, picturetaker, for picking up on my post. That's a really interesting point that you brought up - actually, it's the complete opposite of what I was thinking. In many cultures, the left is often associated with femininity. The only example I can think of off the top of my head is that women are often buried lying on the left.
The left side often has negative connotations, e.g. the Latin word "sinister."
I believe that the left (if only because it's considered the "feminine" side) is often associated with the moon as well (Hmm..."And when there's only the dark / I can still see the light in your eyes"? And in "Liken a Razor," there's the line "Your smile lights a fire in everyone").
Anyway...based on my thoughts, I'd think that maybe Adam is casting himself in a non-traditional role?
Thinking of left as sinister...I wouldn't ever say that he would put himself in a "negative" role, but maybe he's portraying himself as...I don't know, a trickster? The song strikes me as sort of playful.
Then again, I think the song is pretty mellow overall. Considering the sounds of the words "right," "left," and even "side," "left" has, well, a softer, smoother sound. (I could get into the phonetic details if I had my linguistics notes close by!)
Um...I hope that made some sort of sense and wasn't too boring for you guys. Hey, I think overanalysis can be fun sometimes!
I finally showed my mom the Rent documentary. She asked a lot of questions, but didn't really tell me how she felt about it. She was so lukewarm toward the movie that I don't think she believes me when I say the show is so much more powerful on stage. There are a lot of moments in it that make me cry, but I had to try not to, because she tells me that's stupid. At the end, she asked me what would happen when Rent closes, which she thinks will be in the next five years or so, and I just started to cry.
I understand completely Em. It's very hard to explain how attached you are to broadway shows, or any other obsession, to people who are indifferent about them. I'm involved with that with my mom right now. She doesn't understand why I can't just go to Toronto to see a show instead of making a trip to New York for Broadway. She doesn't understand how that is pretty much like my Holy Land that I'm just making a pilgrimage to.
Sorry to hear your parents are giving you a hard time. However, in just a few years you'll be on your own and won't have to answer to them. Though that won't stop them still arguing with you at times, I imagine.
Zyla, I guess I missed you - interesting thoughts about Just Here.
Well, I don't think my mom will connect with the show, quite simply because of the generational gap. It's just not going to be her cup of tea, and she's not going to see in it what someone young sees, even though obviously there are people who aren't young and still love it. I just... I know my mom, and she's not going to tap into any of that stuff, or find the beauty in it. I want her to love it, but I don't want to be disappointed when she doesn't, so at this point, I just really want her to have seen it, and at least experienced it. Maybe even if she doesn't feel the way I do, she'll see why I love it so much.
Didn't you say she and your brother are going to the show soon?
And Sarah, I take it you'll be here shortly. I hope NYC treats you well.
Yep, 34 days, not that I'm counting down or anything. I'm hoping to get my train tickets on Saturday. I have to go to the station to get my ISIC card, might as well buy my tickets then too.
Well, my brother is going to be away at camp for most of the summer, and she kind of wants to see it before then, for a number of reasons, one being that a friend of hers really wants to see it again; she asked both of us because she needs someone to go with, but I said no thanks, and explained why.
My brother's going to be home in a week, and I'm taking him to see Sweeney Todd.
I was planning on going to bed early tonight, but neighbors are having one of their very loud outdoor parties, with pounding rap music and screaminmg people. Very restful. Fortunately they only do it once or twice a year.
That all sounds quite complicated, Emcee. Hopefully everyone gets to see what they want.
Sarah, what are your plans once you get here?
Not quite sure my actual plans yet, it also depends on the schedule of my hosts. As I said before, I would like to see DRS, Sweeney, and Drowsy Chaperone. I also want to take a look at the Aida-like exhibit at the MET. And see some of the "only in New York" stores like Bloomingdales, FAO Schwartz, even though they're way out of my price range. And walk through Central Park. And so many other things, I'll for sure have to make a return trip.
Hm, you're making me realize that I haven't done enough in the city lately. It's easy to get lazy.
