I'm glad you didn't end up losing everything after all, Lexi.
I'm glad the Sweeney excursion seems to be working out! I think that all of you who can go definitely should. (And Emcee, now that you know Company doesn't start until nearly December, you have longer to save up. ) Hehe, I love being a bad influence.
Hehe, they're talking about my state on The Daily Show.

Hi Ashley! Just for the record, I didn't end up losing everything mainly because your suggestion, so thank you.
Ooh, I'm transferring the Charlie Rose interviews (TTB and Rent) now. I had forgotten about them and kind of want to watch them again.

You can come with us, if you'd like!
Yes, you should really join us. We're thinking about the middle of the week before closing.
Day 2 of tech week down! Glad the 'Sweeney' excursion seems to be shaping up for some of you. Looks like another slow day around here...
Adam is obviously failing in his duty to provide us with things to talk about. There is a thread on the main board saying there's a Dunkin Donuts smoothie commercial whose singer sounds like Adam. Has anybody heard this?
So kind of Adam-related.
My mom and my brother saw Rent for the first time today. They both loved it. I'm so, so happy. My mom wants to see it again, to pick up the things she missed this time.
Yay, that's great news Em. I know you were worried about her reaction.
That's wonderful, glad to hear it Emcee.
It's always a huge relief when they like it. I was so relieved when my mom saw the movie (after it was released) and liked it. I was worried because of the bad start we'd had with me 9 years ago and getting grounded and all that - but she just wanted to see it again. One of the first things she said was [in relation to Adam]: "that boy has unbelievable eyelashes. I can see them six feet away on a tiny TV!"
I'm so glad that your mom liked it Em. The first time my mom saw the movie she said to me "Which one is the guy you're always talking about?" I pointed him out to her and she said, "Wow, you're right he really is good looking"
You must have been pretty young, Ariella. How long were you grounded for?
Heh. I saw my mom and brother afterwards, and it was wonderful. She loved Chris Hanke, didn't feel so much love for Tim. She felt nothing for Roger, she said, which is just... not good at all. She thought Antonique was great, as were Karmine, who was playing Maureen, and Justin Johnson (Angel). She said after seeing the movie cast, though, this felt like she was watching the wrong people, and sometimes like she was watching a high school production in comparison.
She said she felt almost like she knew it going in; listening to the music by virtue of having me around, having seen the movie. She really embraced it far more than I thought she would.
Some people, especially those who are very efficient and take-charge, can't imagine what it's like to be seriously depressed. To them it's just an excuse for being lazy. Interesting that the movie cast should have gotten so ingrained. I'm really glad they liked it so much.
I think she allowed them to get ingrained that way because they were the first people she saw play it and because she knows I love them so much.... and they were damned good. If she had first seen, say, this cast, I don't know that she'd regard them that way at all.
I'm not sure if she felt nothing for Roger because of how she is, or if Tim is just not giving a great performance. She said he had no charm as an actor, and just was not believable at all. I have to ask more specifically what she meant by that, but I guess just not believable as someone who is slipping that way. She said she felt that Antonique really carried the Mimi/Roger storyline and that Tim was just sort of there.
I gather some people love Tim and others don't like him at all, but wasn't she rather negative about Roger (or maybe just the Bohemians in general) when she saw the movie? Sorry if I'm remembering it wrong.

I'm glad your mom liked the show, Em! That's great.
I really like Tim now. The first time I saw him he was a little too rough for me (it was also one of his first performances), but when I saw him again, maybe a couple of weeks ago, I felt like he was much better and that he grew into the part. Who knows, it could have been me. He's not the greatest Roger.
I also really like Karmine. I saw her as Mimi the last time I saw the show..and wow, what a voice! I liked her better than Antonique to tell you the truth. I saw Karmine in yesterday in Bryant Park at the Anthony Rapp reading event and she sang Take Me Or Leave Me. She really got into the part and she is a true performer. Excellent. Not to mention, she was very sweet and talkative at the stage door. I was talking to her about dance and where she takes classes and what-not (she takes classes at BDC if anyone was curious).
..i'm really rambling on now..sorry!
I guess I didn't realize how much of a Rent fan you are, Alex. When did you start going to see it?

I've only had the opportunity to see Rent once. I don't remember too much about it other than thinking Karmine was amazing.

Well I've been a Rent fan since about 1-2 years ago and i've kept track of a lot of the performers. I've only seen the show twice, but i'm planning on going a third time before the summer is over. I also saw some of the different cast members at different Broadway events..such as, Broadway in Bryant Park and Celebrate America. I was very much into the story of Rent and the obc before I actually saw the show/movie.
I think this winter will be... four years for me. How it flies!
Is everyone making Johnny Depp their av now because of Pirates or because of Sweeney?
Hehe, both. I love him.
I haven't seen the new Pirates movie, but you've gotta love Johnny. Today I saw another movie, called Half Nelson. It's very unusual, much more what you'd expect from a foreign film than something American. Definitely worth seeing.

The problem with leaving work so early is that I have no energy to do anything else for the rest of the day, so I'm stuck on my computer yet again. ::is addicted::
I'm reading a personal account of a divorce... I usually can't bear to read that sort of thing, but this is so beautifully written that I can't stop reading it. I always have some sort of secret envy of those who can write not only to inform people, but to move people.
I always feel surprisingly underinformed about Johnny Depp whenever his name comes up, but I've enjoyed everything I've seen with him in it. Chocolat was amazing.
