I just PMed someone about something really stupid and random. He was okay with it, but I think I did tell him that I was on heavy medication, so whatever. I know for a fact it's not the most absurd PM he's ever received, so I don't know why I'm worrying...
They have it on Netflix, Chloe. I added it to my queue.
What, Mandi, you can't just say "list" like a normal person? Snob!
Yeah, exam stress is definitely getting to me.
It's called a "queue" on the site.

I think everyone has those moments. You can bet that other people likely don't remember them, but you sure as hell do. Even thinking of those times makes me cringe.
Strangely enough, another friend of mine recommended the same movie to me a long time ago. She's a huge film noir fan -- not sure if NotH fits the bill, but I had that impression.
Atrias! Stewie!
Yes! He makes my world just a little brighter.
Mandi, i'll be really interested to hear what you think.
It could be considered a film noir, but a very atypical one. It's in black and white, for one thing. (Please don't let that stop you from considering it, because it has some of the most beautiful photography I've ever seen.) It's also very suspenseful. The characters and setting are not at all the usual ones though. There's an itinerant preacher, a country woman and a bunch of children.
Stewie is my hero.
Black and white films don't bother me at all.
We were watching The Maltese Falcon for my film class, but I missed most of it due to exams. When I finally returned on Friday, they were in the middle of Rebel Without A Cause. Gotta love James Dean.

One of my favorite films is in black and white, so...
I'm downloading it as we speak. I'm the type who will buy a movie immediately if I even remotely like it, so I don't feel too bad downloading it for a preliminary evaluation.
ETA: I love James Dean, but I think my friend had it right in saying that "James Dean was cute in that tortured boy way, but Marlon Brando just oozed sex."

That just reminded me of something- was it Rebel Without A Cause that they originally started to film in black and white? It was some movie, but then the director realized that this could be a really important film, so they switched to color. I don't know if anyone else knows what I'm talking about, but I remember hearing that somewhere and thought it was really interesting that the director had that kind of confidence in the material.
Here's a good summary:
'The Night Of The Hunter' is recognized by most critics and hard core film buffs as one of the most extraordinary movies ever made, but sadly it's still frequently overlooked by many movie fans, probably because it's so difficult to categorize. Yes, it's a thriller but it's also a child's nightmare. A Noir but also a fable.
Atrias, Stewie is particularly appropriate for the Family Guy fan Adam thread.
The term "oozed sex" reminds me of some bad M/R porn I read a while back.
Oh, God, Mandi, don't even!
But I agree, Brando pre-obesity was a sexy sexy man.

I hate the fact that his "Streetcar" character is so repulsive. It...destroys the sexiness or something.
New avatar time! *dances*
I caught the end of School of Rock last night, when Adam's character's band was playing the Battle of the Bands. My dad was watching it and I ran in squealing.
Ha, I watched the whole thing last night. I got to watch the very amusing expression on my mom's face when she realized that the guy with the bad mullet was Adam.

Oh, James Dean and Marlon Brando! Le sigh. I do think that your friend had it right, Lexi, although I absolutely love James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause. Brando definitely oozes sex appeal. And that picture is awesome.

Oh, I love Brando also. I actually have a book on him that I picked up for 5 dollars, it's interesting.
Streetcar is one of my favorite plays, and I love the movie.
Vivien Leigh and Brando supposedly hated each other though, didn't they?

No, not at all. Jessica Tandy (original Blanche on Broadway) and Brando disliked each other. Brando actually found Leigh quite attractive and admitted that he would have pursued her if he hadn't liked her husband so much.

I always wondered why Jessica didn't get the part in the movie. Leigh was Blanch in the West End, though, correct?
Oh, from some random site (don't know if any of it is true though):
Vivian Leigh vs Marlon Brando (V. found Brando “repulsive” on A Streetcar Named Desire)
Vivian Leigh vs Clark Gable (V. thought C. was smelly and vain, C. thought V was a foul-mouthed brat)
Vivian Leigh vs Lee Marvin (V disapproved of L’s drinking on-set on Ship of Fools)
I think you're right about Jessica though. I get it all mixed up sometimes.
