Shakespeare.

You forgot an "e". re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

You're right of course, Rogue, though he probably wouldn't have cared. The Elizabethans didn't seem to believe in spelling. Everyone just spelled however they felt like. Sometimes it seems we're moving back in that direction.

Wow I haven't been on this thread in forever.

BREAK A LEG Dancinqueen! The most important thing with Shakespeare is to not let the language intimidate you. You'll be great!!

And I *LOVE* when parents have opinions on Adam. My mom always refers to him as a "doll", which always amuses me. :)

Why I want to get into a summer theatre program and what I'll gain from the experience in 200 words.

On topic for a bit -- someone posted an interview that Adam did around 2000 on Adam's LiveJournal community. It's quite short, but interesting. I thought the most interesting part was Adam's discussion about having to "let go" in certain aspects of life, specifically mentioning his music and agreeing when the interviewer brought up relationships. He talked a bit about how he had to learn to let go of worrying about how the record companies viewed him and just go out there and do his own thing. I suppose it's fairly obvious that he learned to do that considering where he is today musically, but it was interesting to hear him talk about it. I think his decision has definitely led him in the right direction musically.

Thanks, Chloe. :) It's good to be back! Good luck Atrias...I always feel weird writing those things. They remind me of college application essays, or those "HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION" essays we'd have to write on the first day in elementary school.

Thanks for bringing us back on topic, SD....I'm going to go read that article now, especially because "letting go" is a huge issue/problem in my own life so I'd love to hear how Adam has handled it!

They're actually audio clips in a protected entry, but they downloaded very quickly for me. It's definitely a problem in my life as well, and I think it's an admirable trait of Adam's (being able to disregard what others think of him, that is).

Adam said something similar in one of his interviews on tour:

Pascal had played in several bands in New York before auditioning for the part of Roger; his first in musical theater. But the fusion of these two aspects of his career has been something that, in the past, he had been uncomfortable doing.

"When I would go out and play my own music, I would tend to avoid that; hide it, in a way," he said. "I fought it for a long time, and it probably held me back. I'd never play Broadway tunes in my own set; that would've been like sacrilege to the rock and roll gods. I thought it would hurt my credibility in the rock community.

"It took me time to realize: I had no credibility in the rock community," he added with a laugh. "I wasn't in it, so what was I worried about? That really freed me up to do what I wanted to do, and not worry about being thought of as any particular thing. I'm embracing it much more now, and I'm proud of it."

Another interesting fact that comes out in the interview Lexi mentioned is that Adam decided to record Model Prisoner on his own and make it available over the internet *before* he was signed by Sh-K-Boom. I'm hoping the move to LA is a similarly lucky for him.

So Atrias, why *do* you want to go to this camp?

My computer is back and working. *knocks wood*

They had to uninstall, then reinstall Windows AGAIN, so I have to start over from scratch AGAIN, but it's fine. I hadn't really put anything new on my computer in the past week that I can't replace quickly, so all I really have to do is download programs like Firefox, AIM and iTunes.

Geek Squad is guranteed for 90 days, so if something goes wrong, they keep fixing it for free. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

The worry about what what the "rock community" would think of him, "offending the rock gods," and similar statements tend to pop up often in so many of his interviews. It's interesting to see how his opinions have changed about this sort of thing (e.g. playing Broadway tunes at concerts rather than blatantly refusing to do so) over the years. He seems a lot mellower when discussing the "rock community" nowadays than in the past, although that might just my interpretation of written text.

No, I think he's definitely become more mellow about the whole thing, and also has quite a bit more perspective on the music scene.

Skittles, I hope your computer is okay now!

I want to go to the camp because it's my last summer to do something theatre related because next summer will be about getting ready to go to college. I'm jealous of everyone else who gets to do theatre all the time!

*pops in* The idea of the "rock community" sounds like just another "clique," category, or stereotype. If someone has a general love of music, why not play whatever style you want? Ignore the stereotypes, break down the walls?

Yeah, if only things worked that way.

*knocks wood for Skittles* I hate computer trouble.

I agree, but I'd imagine that he idolized certain "rock gods" growing up and it was hard to accept that he'd probably never be one of them.

Right, if only, Zyla. I think music has gotten more and more fragmented into genres lately. It used to be that the big rock stations would play all kinds of music, but not anymore.

I understand why you want to go to theater camp this particular summer, but why do you want to do it at all? That's what they probably want you to write about.

Mm, ice cream cake!

Since you don't get to see inside, here's what it was: crushed oreo crust topped with hot fudge topping...ice cream...crushed oreos/sprinkles/hot fudge topping. And I'd pretty much recommend it to everyone. There's only a sliver left, it was heavenly :)

I don't have my bio lab in the morning...yes!

I SURVIVED WISDOM TEETH SURGERY.

I'm so proud of myself. I'm in major pain now, but the doctor was so nice and I didn't feel a thing during the actual procedure!

Yay! The only thing I remember after getting my wisdom teeth out was falling asleep. Then my mouth felt numb for the rest of the day. My auditions are over and I think they went really well. The director had me read the monologue like 5 more times, but I hope that's ok. The callback list is posted this afternoon and that's when callbacks are too. *sigh* It's a hectic day for me. Hope your mouth feels better Lexi
