Em's not underage.
And I saw it when I was 16.

Besides Em, everyone else is.
I just saw it last year.
What's it about, anyway? I fall into the category of being under-age in a conservative household, so I've never seen it.
I thought people mistake Em for a12-year-old all the time?! Oh, wait...
Sixteen? And it's rated NC-17? Nice, Priest. I guess they weren't strict about checking IDs. And here I am always getting carded at the age of 30.
Yeah, it happens.

amasis, really?
Well, the Magnolia (a kickass movie theatre)at the West Village here in Dallas shows all the documentarys and foreign films and good-artsy movies, and they never carded when I went there with friends. (But, actually, I think I saw Y Tu at a friends house)
But, now that I turned 17 a month ago, I don't have to worry no mo'.
amasis, really?
About emcee or about me? Yes, I do get carded all the time. It gets annoying sometimes.
Nia, I think you'd like the movie...

I'll pencil it into my schedule.
Is your signature from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?
Practice what you preach, nia. What was it? About working too hard?
Re. signature: yes.

If I did that, amasis, I'd have more STDs than they have names for right now...
I LOVE that book. So witty, so random. What is the meaning of life? Forty-two.
My parents were very open aboutt what we watched, I remember seeing the Godfather when I was about 10. Always with the R rated movies I'd try not to watch the sex scenes by turning my head or something, but by middle school my dad would be mad if I did that. (not much more uncomfortable than being a middle school aged kid watching sex scenes with your parents in the room, I do not recomened it)
It was the horror movies that really scared me though, I remember being 7 or 8 and just being petrified at all the blood and gore, *shudder* still sometimes scary to remember.

I'm underaged, but my parents really have no problem with letting me watch what I want to watch. Generally, though, I have very little desire to see films that are overly gratuitous, especially in the wanton violence department. ( I did, however, just watch Dogma, which I found fantastically funny.)
As for little children... Well, my youngest brother was three in May, and this past month, my dad took him to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory while the rest of my family went to go see Avenue Q. While my brother was terrified of the angry squirrels, he now goes around the house miming a pistol and screaming "Die! Die! Die!" He seems to identify with all of the "bad" characters (Darth Vader, Gaston...) and is definitely going through a gun and sword phase. I don't think that I would want to expose him to any more of it, if it can be helped, until he's old enough to understand what it means to be violent.
My mom rented SHOWGIRLS for a friend and me when I was 11 or 12.
I think we watched it 8 times then his mom rented it for us.
Ad libing.. my youngest brother just turned 7 he's still in the pistol and sword phase.. I'm not sure when they out grow that.. Thankfully I dont have to deal with it much since I dont live there.. Kid has way too much energy if you ask me.

Oy. I hope he snaps out of it quickly then, Camerangel; I don't know if I can stand waking up to, "Bang! Pow! Ha, you're dead!" for much longer.
And to think: this kid was Dorothy for Halloween last year, and now he tells my dad to shoot the Wicked Witch of the West.
He was Dorothy?? That's awesome!! Each kid is different, but like I said I dont have to deal with the guns and the swords all the time.. I guess that would be the benefits of a 22 year age difference.. Dont get me wrong I absolutely love the kid.. Just in small doses..
*ack jumps from fright directly into... Cam's arms*
I'm not SO scared Cam
Ab- I even went through those phases, he'll be back to being Dorothy in no time (hopefully), identifying with the bad characters happens, a lot of the time they are just more interesting. I mean look at Cam.
As far as the whole movie thing goes, I really think it depends on the child, and I really don't like the unilateral age restrictions.
Nard, the question is did they watch it with you? (that was what made me mental)

Oh, was he ever Dorothy. I think I had him as my avatar once, actually... maybe I'll put it back for a bit. In contrast, he was running around Tompkins Square Park in a Darth Vader mask and cape last week, which, even I'll admit, was quite funny to watch.
But Amen, Penguin, on things depending on the child. There are some people my age to whom I wouldn't show certain films.
You just wanted to jump into my arms Pengers dear...

Are you saying I'm bad?? I thought I was good.. **is confused**
I have to agree that you need to make decisions based strictly on the child.. My cousin wont let her 8 and 9 year olds watch anything at all.. Little house on the prairie, occassionally a disney movie, and certain shows on game show network.. Those kids are going to rebel hardcore when they get older and I'm going to laugh..
Ad Libbing, I want to see this costume..
you are very good Cam, but no one will believe you are good
and yes you caught me, and caught me
*looks deeply into eyes* Ah so nice
I never understood the ultra strict thing, I mean I've never seen it actually work. Well, most people are stupid and don't think anyway. Maybe its reverse, I was thinking if I had kids (and that'll be the day) maybe I'd be ultra strict so they WOULD rebel.
eh, I shouldn't have kids, I'd be doing way to many of these psychological experiements all the time. Besides I don't like them around ALL the time like that.

<--- There you go! Dorothy.
I was just in a production of Narnia, and I overheard bits of conversation from several parents, saying that it was far too scary for their children, who had to be taken out crying. Naturally, my brother loved it. It really depends.
