It looks like that On the Set: Rent thing is finally going to be on Starz tomorrow afternoon (1:15 on Starz Cinema, to be exact), and I'm all set up to tape it. Hope it's actually there.

Hooray!

Um. Hi. I'm seeing the movie on Friday. I'm not ready for this.

This coming Friday? Wow, when did this happen?

EMCEE!!! Really? Wow. Ok, you are NOT allowed to tell us ANYTHING. No matter how hard we beg, ok?

Right - write your review but don't post it until the 23rd, because I know I'd have to read it if you posted it. But can you tell us why you're seeing it so early?

haha, some people are like "TELL ME EVERYTHING!!" and some are like "if you tell me ANYTHING, I'll hurt you." I think I'm going to write it and not post it, but part of me wants to post it, because then I can talk about it at my own rate of comfort. I think it'll be more an emotional re-cap of the whole journey than a review.

Long story, but tickets to a screening were randomly being given out by some street teams or something today. So my friend stumbled upon a woman giving them out. He called and said he saw this woman and pictured me squealing with glee.

In a matter of five minutes, my countdown shrunk by ten days. I'm too shocked to be excited.

That is amazing!!! You are so lucky! I think you should post a review as long as you say, in the thread title, what it is. I'll just have to display ginormous will-power and ignore any threads made by you for awhile. *sigh*

That is amazing - but sort of fitting considering everything that's happened with you and this movie. Well, your recap idea sounds pretty unspoilerish, but I'd still be torn about reading it until I see the movie for myself. There seem to have been quite a few screenings recently, so it's getting harder and harder.

I'm really a bit overwhelmed now that this is the culmination of it all. I'm still DEFINITELY looking forward to Symphony Space because of the event of it all. But it's still so odd to think that these things have just tumbled into my lap. And I'm hardly the biggest Rent fan out there. I wonder why, you know?

O my! They were giving tickets out randomly? I guess they're trying to generate buzz?

That's so exciting! I'm all happy now and I'm not even the one going.

Maybe because you're able to write about it all so vividly and emotionally, thus sharing it with many people who couldn't actually experience it.

And as soon as I finished writing that sentence, an idea came into my head that all your posts about the movie, along with some others, should be somehow gathered together into a cohesive narrative of this year. Probably not practical, but...

Can the street team mysteriously pop up around madison at 50-something street at like 3:45 tomorrow? I doubt they'll ever be in Queens. ARGHY. I was bored enought to make a post on craigslist, no success as of yet.

I have no idea why they were giving them out, actually. None at all!

I bookmark a lot of my posts, and I can find others via searches by date. I think I'd like to keep them, if only for myself. I love to re-read things like that, because they take me back. I've bookmarked the big events, like the set visit and all. BUt some of the more vividly emotional stuff is elsewhere, too. It'll be nice to go back to at some point, maybe.

Good luck with that, Marlene. You never know...

I've come across old RENT websites with people's reminiscences of being on the line, seeing the OBC - it all gives me the strangest feeling of vicarious nostalgia. It wasn't really that long ago, but feels like another age. Anyway, I guess I want something to remember this year by too.

I put so much in writing because I want never, ever to forget. I can go back and read it and have it feel like it was yesterday all over again.

Looks like I missed the party tonight.

Wow, Em, congrats! I'll try to not read your movie recap, if you choose to post one, but I don't think I'll be able to resist your talents! The Year of Anticipation
