I doubt it too. He was in it so long.
I like your idea, nia, but I think they'd have to change some of the music too in that case. I remember Elton talking about the show as being conceived as somewhat campy, and he wrote music to go along with that idea. The campiness was toned down when the show was changed in Chicago, but it's certainly still there.

I can see the intentional camp, but the show is so very divided. At times it wants to be so beautiful (Written in the Stars), but that is sort of spoiled, I guess, by My Strongest Suit and the like. If it wanted to be campy, the tragic ending was not the way to go.
Emcee, are you sniffing my rubber cement?

Mandi, thanks for the info. Please check your PMs. :)
Em, thanks for the advice, although I'd assume that a first-generation recording could be of horrible quality as well, no? If the equipment used to record the performance was mediocre in the first place, the result will never be great regardless of generation.

I'm barely familiar with Aida, but there's no real way that there would be a revival after only about a year, right?

It all worked for me in the end because, though it was far from the strongest part of the show, the campiness served as comic relief. It may be something that's more effective in the heat of the theatrical moment than on the CD or a video.
I'm still holding out for The Wall myself. I should try to find out if that's even still happening.

siamese, there's an FAQ- you can access it from the links above the board alongside all links to the other boards. (sorry, that was a redundent sentence) It's long, but very funny and informative.
You should edit the rest of the post, too- no discussion of bootlegs is allowed.
Chloe, Rubber Cement is like a very strong glue with very noxious fumes.
