Well, I'm still passing out postcards!
Is there anything wrong in particular, Nia?
Something's GOT to come up.
I wonder if... maybe he'll do TV appearances again for it -- if they could now put a major motion picture to his credit, that might help.
He's got to do something; he can't just sit around.
Sorry to hear you're irked, Nia. Just slap a few of those people around. Yeah, more attention might help him get cast, which would be a good thing. I have a feeling his biggest problem is with auditions though. On one of those Theater Wing seminars he talked about how it takes him a long time to get into character (or take off all his clothes, as he put it), so he's probably not very good at reading cold. At least now he has something on film to show people, which can make a big difference.
He complains about auditions in a lot of interviews, too -- I think on the Chatterbox he says that they often go poorly for him.

Emcee, it was a commercial failure of a movie... I don't know that it counts for much.
"Agony, misery, oh, the torture, they tease..."
I want him to do a revival of Chess. Actually, I want to write the book for said revival. I keep thinking of all the things a person could do with it. My new goal in life is to get Chess in top shape on Broadway.
It doesn't hurt to aim high, does it?
I'm not sure it does, either. Maybe it's better than just having Broadway credits, if you're on national TV promoting something, but... I don't know.
Maybe you and Adam can co-write the new book for Chess.

I want to do this in a bad way. I love the characters.
It's actually a goal for me now.
<-pathetic.
Not so. Someone's got to do it.
What's pathetic about it? You write very well. Go for it. Just don't show it to anyone without copywriting it first. And Adam did say he had ideas about fixing the book too. Apparently it's a goal for many.
I'd worry about him trying to sing Freddy eight times a week though. The part is so high.

I can sort of imagine ABBA laughing themselves to death if I called and said "Hi, I want to redo your musical. I'm a teenager, but my internet friends think I write well!"
I don't mean that offensively, it's just what my mind generated. Thanks, Chloe.
If I do it, does it mean I get to make Adam take care of his vocal chords? It is a legitimate worry; I know Murray Head killed his voice because of the original London run... but then again, we don't know what else might have contributed to that problem.

Sure, just whip him into shape.
Is it widely known outside of the musical theatre community that the guys from ABBA wrote Chess? I mean, everyone knows Mamma Mia! as The ABBA Musical.
Opera singers, who are usually very well trained, never perform more than a few days a week. They have to sing to the limits of their ranges, and they just can't do it night after night. Double-casting maybe?
We'll find a way to get around the teenager problem somehow. Maybe an older person could impersonate you until after the ABBA guys swoon over your brilliant rewrite.
I didn't know that! I thought it was older...shows how much *I* know about musical theater!
Oh, some guy who was stoned off his block tried to pick me up tonight. It was creepy, but rather amusing.
I'm really curious...for those of you who saw Adam as the Emcee, what did you think of his performance? I mean pretty much asking b/c...umm...code...I would sadly never have been able to answer that question but I'm in the process of actually being able to. From what I can answer, he seemed to be pretty impressive...being the intimidating presence throughout, doing a good German, Emceeish voice. Seemed to be having lots of fun as well.

Well, I was makeup head for the last high school production! Does that qualify me to commit top-quality fraud?
That's a thought. I could find some amazing unknown and give him his big break as the Freddy alternate. He could do matinees or something, like the secondary Christine in POTO.
I can see the thread title now:
"Adam Pascal doesn't do matinees."

YES!
And then we'll turn it into a thread about how we can get Julia to dance for a salad fork!
I wish I would have been able to see Chess, or maybe I should try to learn some more about it. From some selections I've heard, the score seems gorgeous, and I'd love for Adam to do a revival of it. It was really popular and successful in London but somewhat flopped in the US, right?
May history repeat itself.
Julia could do it, ya think?

I saw a spork in a kitchen wares store the other day.
Atrias, I think Chess is fairly old, don't remember exactly how much. Does it go back to the '80's? And the production here didn't do very well, but there have been several successful ones in London and other parts of Europe.
argh ... I have that Anthony interview on my VCR tape but my camera is giving me some difficulties with sound. I'll try to get it on digital tomorrow morning when my neighbors that share a wall with me are at work and I can turn the TV up nice and loud. It was funny but mostly just cause Isaac is so randomly odd. Adam got a quick mention, Isaac said something like "You're all such BIG STARS NOW! Taye Diggs, Jesse Martin, Adam Pascal ... Any egos in the bunch?" and anthony said "No cause if there were we'd be breaking some kneecaps." It was cute but nothing we didn't already know. Seemed like a pre-book promotional tour cause they held the book up and everything instead of just getting a quick mention. Ok it's bedtime. See y'all tomorrow.
I'm liking the sound of this Chess production.
