then why don't you just go on your own? take a friend or something
How thoughtful of you Out of Tune..
I'm going through SERIOUS withdrawals..
Em I took my mom to see it and that was a BIG mistake.. Now she's a fan and drives me bonkers..

I'm going bonkers! imagine being the only one in your entire town obsessed witht he show. I jest you not -- my town sucks!
Even my past-classmates that were in theatre with me didn't get it
Because I've been begging my mother to see it for years. She and my brother have never seen it, and I kind of want to be there when they finally do. She keeps putting it off, while my brother does at least seem interested. I told them they had to before the movie hits, anyway.

I wish I could watch it before the movie hits -- that would be amazing!
Hopefully they will want to watch it soon enough emcee -- I'll keep my fingers crossed
Did you see the tour when it hit Texas this last time through?? That's just sad that you are alone.. I have converted many through out the years..
Em I know you want her to see it. And she should.. Her disinterest probably lies in the fact that she doesn't understand why you love it so much.. If only she would go..
Ok now I'm really going through withdrawal.. this is not cool..

No I didn't get to see it I'm going to Texas Tech for theatre b/c they have an awesome theatre program...and anyways...that's where the show came through. I wanted to watch it but at that point I was still stuck here in kermit. I cried whenenver I found out it was so close and I still couldn't go watch it.
I'm having withdrawal syndroms of something I have never experienced before. is that bad?
btw on an OT note: I feel shunned being sent to the "student" board...it's boring there
She'll go. Eventually she'll run out of gatherings to invent and company to spontaneously invite, and she won't be able to be like "oh, sorry, can't go that day. I have plans." I think she knows I love it, but I think she thinks my only interest in it is the tie to Adam - or at least that it's my greatest interest. She forgets that I loved it before I knew he was in it. I think she's just genuinely not all that interested. She enjoys some of the music well enough, but it really isn't her thing. It's not happy.
Oh I'm sooo sorry Out of Tune.. You missed an AMAZING cast.. All very talented..
yeah that's sad Em.. the worst part is that she may actually like it.. And yes we all have our actors that we gravitate towards fromt he show, but it's soo much more than that..
Oh, she probably won't. She hates almost everything for one reason or another.
Well you always have us..
Oh and check your pm's I have a flip flop question for you

Have fun! dont be a stranger around here..
Oooo Em I'm eating my lunch with a Spork!
OH MY!
And I responded.
Yes I saw that Thank you!
eating lunch with a spork just made me a bit giddy..
RENT, eh?
Well, since you don't like Matt Caplan, hope someone else is on when you go.
By the way, how 'bout that RENT 10th anniversary hint Anthony dropped off at the blog?
I have a stronger dislike for Cary then I do for Matt.. I was very disappointed when I found out they extended him to Jan 06.
I hope Matt's off... or something. I frigging love Cary. Loathe Matt. Great voice, horrid interpretation.
Reunion + me = MUST HAPPEN.
I agree Em, I must be there for that as well.. My problem with Cary is not that he doesn't have the talent but he just didn't seem to freaking care.. put some emotion in it.. Have roger be motivated, instead of making me feel like you are only doing what your dircetor told you to do..
**steps off soap box**
Same issue as Matt - he's been with the show entirely too long. But at least he's not screwing with the way he portrays the character. Matt's hardly ever even IN character, I feel like. And sometimes, I think it's okay to have an unmotivated Roger. I mean, what's he got to live for, you know? At least, that's how he should feel for some of the time.
I know what you mean and Matt is a **** and screws around way too much.. and yes there should be a certain amount of unmotivated roger but when it seems like every move he makes is not because roger would, but because his director told him to I would rather go watch 8 years olds..I expect that from 8 year olds not from someone like Cary. if he as a character is unmotivated fine, so be it but as an actor he needs to make everything he does do purposeful for roger.. if that makes any sense to you..
I think he's a bit of a lazy actor, honestly, but I think he plays the part decently. And better than others I've seen. He kicked ass in Taboo - and honestly, probably because that was something new to him. I don't know if it's truly that he needs such harsh direction, because really, who would hire an actor like that? But maybe what's making him look that way is sheer boredom. I also think it's really very hard to tell what's an actor's personality trait that could be bleeding through to a character - especially when it's such a highly developed, realistic character - and what's an acting choice. Maybe he wants to make Roger that sad, pathetic and unmotivated. I just think it's hard to pass a judgement that's so deep like that, simply based on watching. It's a pretty big idea to say that he's not giving his character purpose, you know? If nothing he was doing was purposeful, he'd really just flop around. I don't think he's *that* lazy, or he'd not have a job.
I just had this mental image of him flopping around on the stage like a dying fish.. **giggles**
I didn't see him in Taboo, I wish I had.. yes I am being very critical of him, maybe too critical.. I'm just going by what I got from his performance. I can't say that it's not a character choice because I dont know, it just seems lack lustre I guess. I do have to agree that he seems to be a bit of a lazy actor and might be bored but if he's bored why did he sign on for longer. It just makes me sad. I know it's a job but I wish he would have at least given me the impression that he cared about the part.. I think that's what my biggest issue is.. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he pulled off an Amazing Roger.. I just wish I could see it.. I think he's probably more than capable of doing it..
A bit, yeah, but I don't necessarily think it's wrong for Roger to be a "lack luster" individual. That would definitely make it harder to tell if it's the actor's decision or not, but Roger isn't... he's not someone whose actions would be very exciting, you know? He's sort of, for a while just... there, everything welled up inside of him. Certainly he has to have emotion and pain and anger, but he's not exactly too enthused about life, either. I'd be more upset with Cary if he was truly emotionless, which I really don't think he is. Sebastian was emotionless, and had the completely wrong vocal tone for Roger. He's my least favorite. And I'm still caught up, though, in how we know that it's him truly not caring (though likely, I suppose) about his performance as much as he used to, or if it's just his portrayal of Roger - one of total indifference. He probably was better earlier on; he has it in him. And I think he has a great voice. I just don't know that we can so easily say the flat-ness is all because Cary's lazy or his performance is bad whatever. That's part of who Roger has been made to be. Every time we talk about this, I feel like we find ourselves trying to see the line between a flaw in the actor and his performance, or of his underlying interpretation, or just because of who we like and don't like.
