well, i guess that's good for him, as well as the rest of the cast, to be getting more publicity and attention. they get to share their talents with the rest of the world, and i think that's amazing!
yeah i understand what you're saying, but he's like... such a diva. i mean when all of the other cast members were signing autographs and taking pictures, he rushed back into the little tent thing set up for them. but dont get me wrong, i mean i love adam as much as all of you, i just dont like how this movie stardome is getting to his head
Honestly, in terms of Thursday in specific, I don't blame him one bit. Some of those girls have seriously lost their marbles. Adam and Idina ran, and I think with good reason. It was about one hundred times worse than any stage door at an Adam-related event has been in years, probably, and even when it used to get to Wicked-esque levels of crazy before AIDA closed, he was usually very, very good. But this was just too much for someone to be expected to handle; I mean, Anthony tried to stay out there for a long time, but eventually security looked like they were just getting those actors the hell away from the fans.
You know I'm worried about stuff getting to his head, or the opposite reaction of fans going batty, so I'm not exactly just running to his defense - I know he's got an ego - but it's kind of early to think that movie stardom has gone to his head. The movie isn't even out yet, and the potential new fans haven't had a chance to discover him yet. It's premature to talk about the stardom, because right now, at least publically, he's still under Hollywood radar. I didn't notice a huge difference in his behavior, though. He's usually that way; very "I know you love me, let's see the love!"
And when he was doing that, if you caught the right person, they'd say that Adam's "thing" for his fans was that if you wanted to see him, come an hour and a half before curtain. If you did that, he was perfectly sweet and willing to do whatever you wanted; I haven't heard of many actors making accomodations like that when they're so inclined to skip out post-performance. I thought it was nice of him.
(I sense myself starting to get REALLY protective.)
...never occured to me to go before. oh well, i was just saying the vibe he gave me. i mean i'm sure he's a sweet, down to earth, nice guy and all, i just dont know him. i understand it was way overwelming for all of them, because there were so many people there, it just seemed to me that he was the only one that snuck back into the tent
Idina did too. But I think they're the two with the most rabid following - not necessarily the most famous, but the two who have drawn the majority of the fans without sanity.
I've always said that I really, truly don't think he's a jerk, or a total asshole like he can come off being; I think a lot of it is the confidence and the little bit of ego, and sometimes people just aren't expecting that. I do really believe that he's a sweet guy - he's never been anything but wonderful to me, anyway. I always assume he won't remember me, but it's all the more unnerving now knowing he definitely does.
And you know, this all circles back to the argument about obligation to sign, etc. They all signed after the Today Show - who knows? Maybe it was just making nice for the cameras, but I also think it was because that was far more controlled than Bryant Park was. It was easier for them to deal with, or at least it looked that way. It was still a lot, and he handled it with poise and his usual outpouring of charm.
I know he gives that vibe sometimes, but I just can't see justification in saying that you get it because he wouldn't sign autographs for literally thousands of screaming (quite frankly very, very obnoxious) fans. If you're ever lucky enough to catch him alone, he's really a great guy. Granted, I don't truly know him, but if I thought he was a jerk, I wouldn't so sincerely say I thought otherwise.
...well in anycase i dont mean to get into an argument. and besides ... its my bedtime. haha not really i just need to get off the computer for the night. goodnight yall
no i read it. i completely understand where you're coming from. you know him better than i do...
on a lighter note, where is that adam quote on your signature from??
From the little behind-the-scenes feature on Access Hollywood... a few months ago. I was sitting on the little round ottoman thing for my chair, and I laughed so hard that I literally made it tip over, causing myself to tumble to the floor. It was very, very graceful. My brother came in and found me in stiches on the floor.
... my little play on homage to the ego.
aww hahaha... would it be cool if i made that my away message for the night??
Haha, yeah that was so Adam.
Emcee, I completely agree with you on your account of DivaAdam. He was totally sweet and gracious when I arrived an hour and a half before Aida. He is a sweetheart! I know what Elle means though...but I feel personally that it's just, ever since all this Broadway fame he never expected, it's sort of ..his way of dealing with it--he just takes it on and becomes divalike..just kinda goofy, like you perfectly put it "I know you love me, let's see the love!" We have to remember, people do have different personalities, and this may just be Adam's way of reacting.
No matter how he acts, you gotta love him!!!
But I feel like you can almost... see through the "arrogance," for lack of a better term. For some reason, this "diva" behavior on him is just laughable, and you can pass it off and just smile at it. With other people, sometimes I'm bothered and often upset by it - like the way Raúl has been apparently acting lately had be a bit sad for a while. I guess I can laugh at it on Adam because like I said, I don't think he's really an arrogant bitch. I think the confidence comes off in goofy sort of endearing ego-trip.
There's also quite a bit of history behind the way he acts around large groups of fans and things, and why he can sometimes be a bit aloof.
