But I feel like you can almost... see through the "arrogance," for lack of a better term. For some reason, this "diva" behavior on him is just laughable, and you can pass it off and just smile at it. With other people, sometimes I'm bothered and often upset by it - like the way Raúl has been apparently acting lately had be a bit sad for a while. I guess I can laugh at it on Adam because like I said, I don't think he's really an arrogant bitch. I think the confidence comes off in goofy sort of endearing ego-trip.

There's also quite a bit of history behind the way he acts around large groups of fans and things, and why he can sometimes be a bit aloof.

I don't see anything endearing about an ego, but if Adam is snarky to a bunch of muppets, I don't think that's the same as being a jerk.

I love it when he snarks the muppets. It's hysterical, because he has such a blunt way of doing it, of which the muppets still tend to be unaware.

Some of the egotism feels like its a joke; so the ego/sense of humor is endearing - is more what I meant, I think.

I think there's a part of him that can't take hysterical fans seriously, and finds it funny that *he* should be the object of their affection, and another part that appreciates having fans and wants to reach out to them.

I think that hit it right on the head. And to add to his curtain call behavior, I've always really appreciated the many times I've seen him get the final bow as the lead, and still mouth "thank you" to the audience. It's a tiny gesture, but it's sweet.

When I was at the barricades at Bryant Park, I drew a quick sketch of Adam. I scanned it and it's on my photobucket account.

*pops in after a long day yesterday*

That IS really sweet. And really, I agree with Emcee on all counts. Adam's ego-trips are more of a joke to me... XD I think he's utterly and completely hilarious and I don't think he's being completely serious.

I can also understand his introvertedness when it comes to crowds. I mean... it's pretty scary to have a mobbing rush of screaming, insane fangirls who want to tear his hair out, take it home, and frame it on their walls. This reminds me of a Johnny Depp quote I read, once, where a girl actually MAILED him pubic hairs.

Naturally, he didn't even touch them. I'm thinking he probably threw it away or burned it or something. O_o

And besides, Emcee said herself that Adam was pretty shocked at the amount of people that showed up at Bryant Park. It had to have been completely overwhelming.

He literally came out, grabbed his mic and went "Holy SH*T," then just took an overwhelmed little step back.

The ego trips sort of strike me as a play on the fact that people treat him like a god - and find it totally acceptable for him to have an ego. Sort of like he's taking advantage, but in a totally humorous way. It's kind of like the way Book of Endings is so tongue-in-cheek. He does it because people (himself included) can find it comical, I think, and he does it because he can. Much of the actions that scream "EGOTISM!" seem so... conscious.

The actual performance, right as they all came out and lined up, when the crowd was going bonkers.

With Book of Endings, at first, part of me wanted to be offended. But once it sank in, it was more funny than anything else.

Of course.

Think of it this way... The fans are a form of motivation. As much as many people like to say, "Oh, I'm doing this for myself," their motivation would not be nearly so high if they had no one to appreciate their work.

So the fans are loved, damnit. In some way. XD

very true. and in this case, with adam loving his fans, i like to think of it like this: adam loves us SO much, that he wrote us all a song :)

but I wrote this song, and I owe it all to you.

When I finally got to see him again, watching him soak up all of that hysterical attention, I just kept thinking of that.

Is that girl petting him?! She's got this look on her face that's like "oh. my. God. He's standing. Right. There. If I just... reach... a ... tiny bit... I can touch... ADAM!"

Is that "backstage," or what? I was back there, but I couldn't find him.

Book of Endings = hysterical. I think the best part of the song is that it's a complete "joke", I guess you could say. But part of it is just SO true. I can't even imagine how bad Bryant Park was. Come on, it's the majority of the RENT OBC!!! It doesn't get much better than that!!

Elle-- that's a really cute picture!! And the fact that the girl is "petting" him is just way too funny!!

And I despise computers... I'm having a serious computer over-heating problem, so I have to spend minimal time on it... so goodbye until tomorrow, you lovely Adam lovers!!

Hope your computer is okay, Diva!
