Well that sucks royally.. that's worse than staying home.. At least staying home your expectations are exactly as they should be, and you wont be riddled with disappointment.
I had high expectations and was almost bored after three days. Just like it usually is with men for me! AMEN!!
Did you take many pictures?
I'm very familiar with Python, one of those knows all the lines types. The show just didn't do it for me, once the cheerleaders came out I was getting anxious, but the first act was very strong. The second act was not what I had hoped for. I thought the attempts to make the story cohesive were lame and brought down by the fact that sometimes they didn't care if it was cohesive at all. My biggest complaint is that the new stuff wasn't Python enough. A horde of angry historians rushing the stage as the knights run screaming, a "reversal" of fortunes on the movie, something like that. I thought the "Song that Goes Like This" type of jokes were funny but I would have prefered to see them done with a wink instead of a full body jerk.
Again I think your comment on the city is exactly how I felt.
I love the city though, I've lived here since August and can not get enough!
I love Monty Python, but wasn't able to see Spamalot while I was in the City in March. I've heard mixed reviews about the show and would still like to check it out.. Hopefully it wont close before I get back into NYC. I'm so tired of being on the West Coast..
Penguin, I wasn't refering to The City (our glorious, beautiful and best city in the world = NYC) but to another one.
I'm sorry you didn't like Spamalot, it certainly worked for me. I loved every second of it and my belly was hurting after the show. I see your point though.. I guess it's just one of those shows you either hate or love.
Cam, I doubt Spamalot will close within the next 3 years.
QM
I know some people who loved it and others who hated it. Of course the biggest funny thing is everyone I say I didn't like it to either doesn't believe me or thinks I just don't understand Python.
The funny thing is that is EXACTLY what I would have said to someone who said the same thing to me before I saw the show.
Definitly see it, I personally perfer many other things like DRS or TLITP!
Oh good because I plan on being there long before that..
That's good QM, I was really shocked someone could get bored here in so little time, but considering your approval of Spamalot anything was possible.*
Yep Cam, I don't think you will have any trouble getting here before they close. They might stop selling out around 2007 or so.
Where did you go QM? (I'm sure if I looked back I could find out but I'm too lazy for that)
I really really liked DRS but I just don't think it's as unique as Spamalot, DRS is just another The Producers to me. I honestly think it has no chance when it comes to the Tony's (except Norbert).
Piazza, on the other hand, is THE most beautiful show this season. I'm in love with it!
Make sure you pre-book your ticket for Spamalot, Cam.
QM
QM spent some time North of the border..
Yeah I dont think it will be a problem.. especially if my current plans work out.. We shall see though..
*waves*
Few more edits, then this thing has to be done. I'm driving myself insane over it, and it's not like it's even going anywhere. Oy.
The thing about DRS is they spent the time to do what they were doing as well as they possibly could, as a whole it really worked. I don't think it will win the Tony but sometimes I think they Tony should go to the show that works instead of the one that is a hit or tries to break ground for the sake of breaking ground. I thought DRS actually works much better than the producers, although like Produncers, I'm afraid it will not work once the original cast leaves.
Ooh, North of the Border. I'm looking to go up there soon, I've never been. At least it wasn't Atlanta.
I love DRS.
I still don't know if it'll win, though...
Hey Emcee :) *waves back*
yep, probably not. But I can still go back to see it for $26 to add to my 3 visits.
*keeps waving, just 'cause*
Okay, who wants to see this monster? It's LONG. I need opinions...
I'm heading out now, ladies. Things to do....
See you later.
QM
I do..
Hey Em..
I'll take a look at the beast.
*still waving*
*arms hurt*
Need to stop waving by doing something
byeeeeee, QM!
I will catch up with your review a bit later, Emcee.
BYE!
QM
See you laterrrrrr! *bounce*
I'll PM it to you in the meanwhile...
I've read the review, I'm going to get lunch downstairs while collecting my thoughts. It seems very even handed and "critical" not critical to me at first blush though. Nice work Emcee, especially with not being overly paning or heaping on the praise.
Muchas gracias. I really appreciate you reading it for me.
I hope my comments are helpful Em..
I hope mine are helpful too. I am not very happy with them overall though.
Your review was much better than my review of your review.
Just checking in Ladies!
Everything seems to be normal. QM is shilling Piazza. Emcee is harping over Raul and the review. Yep. All is normal!
