Idina has confirmed, and I really believe that Taye, Jesse, Adam, and Anthony will do it. Daphne, Wilson, and Freddi are probably not going to be in it. I'm really excited to see this, although I know most of you aren't. I never got to see the OBC, so this is my chance!
"I seriously laughed out loud at that cartoon, just TOO funny, thanks for the laugh amasis!!!"
You're welcome. And we should probably all thank the person who made it .
I'm one of the few here, I guess, who's not really too worried about the movie. I saw the OBC. *That* particular experience of seeing them on stage together, live, and at that particular time when they're still 'in the moment' of it all, so to speak, isn't going to be duplicated whether or not all 15 of them get cast to do the movie (which we can assume won't happen anyway).
I loved the musical. The movie is a separate thing from it, and should be treated as such. And whatever Columbus does - in regards to casting, script, direction, cinematography - I'll just wait to see the movie and THEN decide if it works or not.

I'm really excited...do I get killed for this?
I loved the draft of the screenplay I read, and I think the fact that he's casting the OBC really bodes well for this.
And the cartoon made my night.
NTG just told me the news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so happy
(pst, NTG, call me)
Have we official word? I mean, I pretty much know it's a done deal, but I need this to be announced officially. Quick and.... perhaps painless.
Fairly official...it's on a major Columbus site.

Something to cheer you up...
Take a look at the Kean thread on this Daphne message board.

Thanks for posting that, Chloe. Great to hear they'll consider doing a joint thing again. Updated On: 10/28/04 at 09:11 PM
YAY! At COLLEGES, too amasis!

Oh, college was over a long time ago for me that *that* particular info didn't stand out - but I can just see what you're plotting right now...
Don't be sad... the movie could turn out good, you know. And if it sucks, the musical, and the OBCR, will always be there for you to go back to
*edit:
<-- And look at what listening to Civilian has made me nostalgic for. (And I mean NOT in a bad way like, "Oh, this sucks so terribly I have to go put my Beatles CDs on!!).

I think I totally missed something *makes a confused face*
Did they confirm that they WOULD be in the movie or wouldn't be?
No official press release as of now that I'm aware of. The prevailing rumor is that those OBC members who were offered their roles either have accepted, or will most likely accept. Updated On: 10/29/04 at 09:53 PM
*crosses arms*
... and arms self with flip-flops?

To throw at Chris Columbus!
Oh, I thought they would be to produce such a hail of flip-flops that none of the OBC can approach the contracts .
I have a feeling Columbus has got thousands of those at his door already... just from the 3 HP movies he's directed/produced. The hardcore fans wanted to kill him for changing some little things. Those who read it and wanted the movie to be its own thing, was bored to tears with how the movie was so 'by the book' and so wanted to kill him for *that*. And people complained of the casting too - Daniel Radcliffe's too cute, Emma Watson's too bitchy... etc., etc., etc. And these were movies where the original author was practically involved in every single decision. So, you know, he's probably equipped with his own special flip-flops protection now.

I will give it a chance. As much as I don't like the idea of the movie without Jon there to approve/disapprove of it, I will go see the movie.
Count on me squealing through the whole movie. I'll be sitting there in the theater like a babbling idiot going "OMG IT'S ADAM AND IDINA AND MORE ADAM AND ANTHONY AND TAYE! OMG!!"
I'm going to give it a chance, simply because it's RENT. I just... I give up.
I understand your reservations. I just think you might be surprised. Maybe that's just wishful thinking, though. I don't know. I still have hope that Columbus can do something good with it. And I don't think the OBC cast members would be involved if they didn't think Jon would approve.

I agree with what you say, amasis... It makes me feel quite a bit better, actually. The movie has the right to be something other than a washed-out photocopy, but it doesn't have the right to change the vision. And I don't think Columbus intends to do that.
As NTG said on the movie thread, the fact that the OBC are at least considering/have accepted must show that it's not all bad.
Or that they'd jump at anything for international exposure. I don't blame them. I'm just saying.
I'll give the movie a chance, just cuz it's RENT, and even if they hired Harvey Fierstein as Roger, I'd still go watch it on opening night. Who am I kidding.
I couldn't agree with you more. I've always been on the fence about this, but now that I know it's definite, I'm going to definitely make up my mind.
I will be there the moment it opens. I'll drop everything and go see it. It's RENT, my favorite show that made me become obsessed with something. I'm obsessed with it, so I just HAVE to see it, even if Justin Timberlake was playing Mimi and J. Lo was playing Mark-- I really don't care anymore. Now that the OBC is going to be in it, hell yea I'm gonna see it! The more Adam and OBC I get, the happier I am.
"even if Justin Timberlake was playing Mimi and J. Lo was playing Mark"
Thank you. I needed to laugh.
