But you get your life back soon, right?

*sigh* I really don't want to go to this thing. I need a job this summer, and that's what it's about, but I really don't feel well. Boo.

Hey guys, thought I'd drop in for a bit.

Yesterday was so much fun. A lot of waiting around, but unforgettable. Everyone was really nice and allowed people to take as many pictures as they wanted as long as there was no flashes, which is completely understandable. Couldn't take many pictures myself - I had a disposable and unable to turn OFF the flash. *sigh* Guess thats how it was meant to be.

I was proud of myself, Emcee and group made me do everything (asking questions, going up to Idina to say "hi"/take pictures, etc), and I did it! *Pats self on back* We all had a blast keeping ourselves occupied when there wasn't much to watch. It was fantastic!

So last night was also amazing. I feel like I have my giant first post to live up to, but I guess I'll just wing this one. We got there around 6, and found the area pretty easily. The cameras and big lights were all set up, and there were no parking signs along a pretty wide general area. We saw the trailers and all of the old cars that are part of the set, and just hung around until it got dark. This time was really just to watch, though... maybe to get things to sink in some more.

You could actually get decently close, and I happened to spot Anthony from across the street. I felt really badly that I hadn't gotten a chance to say goodbye to him last week, because he was so great to us. He was talking to a bunch of people, so I waited a while, and then just got over my nerves and went over to him. I told him basically that - I felt bad that I hadn't said goodbye, and I happened to be in town, so I came down to check it out. He was wonderful about letting people stay close by if they were chatting with him, even when the crew was trying to get people to go away. He asked how we'd found out where it was, since even HE didn't know where they were filming until the morning of, and I sheepishly admitted it had leaked out onto the internet. It's not like he's not perfectly well aware of that, I'm sure, but still.

We saw Rosario shoot a few lines of Without You. She is absolutely gorgeous; I got a much better look at her last night than I had last week. He hair wasn't totally curly, but you've also got to figure that she's been out on the streets and such, so it works. She was wearing her leopard print coat, but I couldn't see what else. It was hard to see, but it looks like it's almost choreographed... kind of like an interpretive dance, but less weird. I heard the playback, and it was the first time I'd ever heard her sing. I am SO incredibly impressed. This girl can really, really sing. I'm very much looking forward to hearing her belt out things like Out Tonight and Another Day. Her voice is a little bit "prettier" than Daphne's, but it's still got something very sexy about it, and it's just gorgeous. The orchestrations sound wonderful - it's really going to be great. She did the scene in front of a heavily graffitied wall, that looked like it had some kind of barred gates on it. It's perfect.

Rosario was going to leave right after she was done, but she stopped to talk to some people for a while. She is an absolute doll. I'm not sure why I was surprised, but I guess it's because she's probably the biggest star of all of them. She kept saying things like "Hi, I'm Rosario, nice to meet you!" and she's just adorable. That made me really happy. She gave out cookies, too! Magic night, take.... two.

After, Anthony did what I think might be the opening sequence, if not at least somewhere very near to the beginning of the film. He's on his bike filming some goings-on on the street, and then he starts to ride his bike away as the music for "Rent" starts. The playback for that (even though all I heard was the instrumental intro) sounds fabulous. I'm so excited to hear the entire soundtrack. I saw the scene loop on the monitor several times, and it looks perfect. They've really captured it, so far. The area for the set was perfectly picked - definitely very grungy, very sketchy. Sometimes, you just don't believe things until they're right there in front of you. It's going to be very special to see these parts in theatres, and know I was there. And there was some definite tearing up when I saw this part on film. Magic night, take.... two.

During some of the downtime, Idina came on set. I'm not sure if she was shooting anything, but I think she was just there to watch. She looks beautiful. We went up to her just to say hello, and she is so sweet, if only a little bit shy. She asked how we found out where it was, too - not in a suspicious of crazy fans way, but kind of genuinely curious. She seemed happy to have had people (ones who didn't squeal at her, mind you) come down to visit. I took a picture with her, and other than saying "we found out online... though, I probably shouldn't tell you that" and both of us laughing a little, I couldn't find it in me to say much. I did get a "it's nice to meet you," though. Magic night, take.... two. We all took pictures, and she was great, and then went back up to watch Anthony's shoot.

They took a break when that was finished, and were going to start shooting Anthony singing the first few lines of "Rent" on his bike with a moving camera, but he didn't know when they were going to start. So we talked to him for a bit and got some pictures, and then got ready to leave. He asked if we'd gotten to hear Rosario sing, and I gave him a very enthusiastic yes. I told him it was the first time I'd ever heard her sing, and that she sounds beautiful... and that everything looks beautiful. It still amazes me how genuinely committed and interested he is in what we think.

Unfortunately, Adam had wrapped his scenes earlier that day, so he wasn't around, but I did get to see what he'd shot in the morning on one of the really small monitors. I didn't hear any sound, so I'm not sure what song it was, but he was on a bus. It looks incredible, as does he. I guess maybe it was sort of better that he wasn't there again; I wasn't distracted, and did a better job of paying attention to the shoot than to him, and it probably would've made me kind of sad. I guess again, it's sort of that familiarity thing. Knowing that HE is going drills into my mind that the whole thing is, too. Last night was their final shoot actually on the NYC streets. Today it's in a subway station somewhere. It seems like having had these past two weeks to get both direct and indirect glimpses of everything going on, it's really become a part of New York. You know, every day hearing about who shot what from people who were there, and seeing pictures, and knowing where they were going to be. Living in the city, that felt like such an amazing presence to have in my almost-home every day. It feels like now, we're really giving it up to the rest of the world, kind of just having to let go. My faith in this thing has grown so much that I think I'm ready to do that, and just figure well, come what may... but with a lot more optimism than I used to have when I said that. Anthony, if you read this post, too - I thank you so very much for that. All the best as you continue in San Francisco. Magic night, take.... two.

Emcee, stop. You just might talk me into seeing this movie.

I am SO GLAD that Rosario sounds good. After hearing the people they chose for the POTO movie, I lost a little faith in the industry's ability to identify strong singers.

that was great emcee!! I am so glad you got over your shyness. I wouldn't have! And i agaree with what you said about the movie. :)

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

thank you so much Emcee (and TGIF and Wicked)... your reviews were great! I'm really looking forward to this movie. And I'm glad that someone has heard Rosario sing and thinks that she's good. I was a little worried, but now, I'm truly looking forward to it.

May I express my love for Rosario? She will never replace Daphne for me - for Daphne was/is/and awlays will be Mimi. However, if it CAN'T be Daphne, I am SO glad it is Rosario. She was such a doll yesterday and yes SHE CAN SING!

Her voice, like Emcee said, is *prettier* than Daphne's. Now to make it clear, her voice isn't as raw or as raspy(?) as Daphne. I don't want to say either is better, just different, both great.

Oh yes, and I'm keeping my cookie!
