Congrats on precalc Jamie! See, math is fun! (Okay I'm prob going too far but again given the fact that I'm a huge math geek, my offer to help is still on the table)

And yeah, I know what you mean about the understudies, but even as talking to them in other circumstances both Laura and Joe seem really sweet, I love Joe. I mean when Kevin said no one's signing I was like not true, Greg will. One of these days when he says something like that or like no one will take pics with you, I should be like, Kevin I'll bet you $20 you're a liar. And even if it's one of Greg's days where he takes forever and I'm the only one there i'll be like take a pic w/ me? And then I'll win $20. Heh.

Oh, and wanted to share this, it's from a backstage article(link included t end) that gives advice to dancers on auditions for all current bway shows. Here's what is said about DRS:

"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Broadway opening: March 3, 2005.

Auditions for replacements and a Las Vegas sit-down production will be held this month. Auditions for a national tour will be held in April 2006.

"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" tells the story of clever con men who scam the million-dollar-necklace women at French Riviera casinos. The dancers need to have that Riviera style -- men and women who have been there and done that. "We need mature-looking dancers," says choreographer Jerry Mitchell. "Those who can project elegance, wealth, and style, and can really sing the show's tough lyrics. Bottom line: The dancers must appear 'full of themselves.' Otherwise, it's no fun to see them get ripped off."

In this production, members of the ensemble (six men, six women, and four swings) cover the principal roles, and auditioning dancers will be asked to do scenes, so good acting ability is an added essential.

Like most Broadway choreographers, Mitchell may gather a group of dancers he knows and trusts in a studio to work out the choreography before holding auditions, but they're not necessarily shoo-ins. He attends all auditions and keeps piles of photos and résumés. "Never forget that a choreographer is often working on other projects simultaneously," he says. Mitchell divides the photos according to the projects he is working on and often finds dancers he thinks may fit better into another show. He will also recommend a dancer to another choreographer. "Go to all calls," he advises. "Leave your credentials. You never know." He cautions young dancers to be aware of the first impression they make: "If you show an amazing attitude, you are remembered."

At an audition for the show, Mitchell may give choreography from the number "The More We Dance," so seeing the show beforehand and being familiar with its music is always an asset: "Remember, I am only a part of the final decision. Everyone must pass the director and composer as well."

Hmm, auditions for replacements this month. That's exciting but a little sad.

LOL, liz i've taken naps JUST like that too, especially during opening night week of our school musical-i'd be SO TIRED that i'd get home from rehearsal and just SLEEP until 7:45PM. then i'd do my homework and go to bed at like...2AM. haha

naps are so refreshing though, aren't they?

oh, and get this. NONE of my local stores carry jason robert brown OR adam pascal OR the last five year CDs! HOW CRAZY IS THAT!? i have to ORDER them.

crazy. maddness.

btw-that "hot item" shirt is $30. and i really want it. but it's $30. which is like...2 nice shirts on sale at Aero. are the shirts cheaper there at the items stand in the theater? or are there any broadway stores around times square that sell em for cheaper? lol. ($30 is SO MUCH!)

Nah, the hot item was that expensive at the theatre b/c it's a femalish shirt. My friend was very upset as she argued that it ahs less material and therefore should be cheaper than the other shirts, not more expensive. Ah well.

Amanda: not sure if you just signed off or are actually just going to bed or what, but my parents aren't coming with me; we're meeting them at the lottery. So, don;t worry about being crazy.

Jamie: i have made out with a guy before but i have to makeout with a GIRL onstage. that is the weird part. Thanks for the congrats.

did you like the show ali?

ah, dre, have fun with ur lesbo makeout scene! lol (btw, which character is the lesbian-urs or the other girl's?) and, i guess if u look at it, this same sex thing goes back to shakespeare, when they had romeo fall in love with a young and male juliet.

amanda-i totally agree with ur friend. it IS less fabric. i own A LOT of black babydoll tees, and the most expensive that they go for me are $20. maybe $25 if it's made out of REALLY nice fabric. but that's it. plus, if i order the hot item shirt online, i'd have to pay like....$7.95 or something extra for shippping and handling. which, is uncessary. ah, well.

cat-does liz REALLY sound like a man over the phone? hahahaha

Tradition...tradition

Yeah, got into bed, turned off the lights all ready to go to bed at 11PM. As everyone can see, that's gone well. Right now I'm not tired in the least. Watched the end of Titanic which despite seeing two times I feel like I got envision the whole movie(I think it's b/c I watched the Celine Dion music video too much) and now theatre talk is on, so that's cool. Discussing the upcoming shows...ooh, just got to In My Life. This is entertaining.

Who wants to help me sleep?

OMG GUYS!!! ok...so here it is. this was my third time seeing the show..and again, it was phenomenal.

ok first things first...I had front row seats..i was literally front and center...so i was right behind the conductor..when we sat down, he turned around and talked to us...and he talked to us during intermission...since i'm in music, we had a lot to talk about...how he learned the show from right where i was sitting, how the two empty seats next to me were apparently my fault..things like that lol.
ok so..the show started like 15 minutes late...but it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT!

ok we're gonna go by actor here...so here we go.

Greg--the opening scene, he TOTALLY recognized me. like woah. he looked right at me and held my eye for a minute..he knew who i was. so it was awesome. Then later in the show, he gave us looks a few times...he did an amazing job. his singing has improved since the last time i saw it (or so it seems) and it was just..awesome. So then the end came...and he did his bow, and he totally WAVED TO ME!!!!!!! like...a wave. right after his bow! i was like OMG i just got a huge wave and smile from GREG JBARA!!!!! lol i freaked out.

John--the rumors are true...lots of spit lol. He doesn't make eye contact with the front row people as much as the ensemble does, but he does do it when his character allows. he was very good..only got a case of the giggles like...once. during shuffhousen. but he was excellent. love sneaks in was AMAZING...sounded way better than on the recording. very good all around.

Laura--She was excellent. i think shes a very good singer..shes adorable in the part. but...i think Shere is a better actress. and probably a better singer...but Laura was very good..i didn't regret that Shere wasn't there like i thought i would. she was excellent.

Norb-- OK...HE is amazing. he is always looking at the front row...i coudn't even count the times that we had and held eye contact. like..on the train, when Joanna is singing What Was a Woman to Do?...him and john sit there and talk..and the whole time i was watching him. so he would look at me, talk to John, look at me, talk to John..it was a cycle. or when he was in the box seats...he looked down at us. it was just awesome. during love is my legs, we were mouthing the words, and he saw us..it was hilarious. but yeah...as always he was INCREDIBLE. his voice...superb. just..unbelievable. and i felt so bad cuz he was coughing a bit and we could tell he was sick...but...he was SO GOOD. just...amazing. the eye contact though..i'll NEVER FORGET IT! lol

so the show...awesome. everything was amazing. the audience totally rocked...john and norb at the end of dirty rotten number got sooo much applause it was ridiculous..Norb starting cheering too!! lol just to fit in! lol it was hilarious. Greg's pencil joke went a little unnoticed..but me and my cousin busted out laughing. so it was all good.

and the front row seats...amazing. we got spit on a little bit..mostly by john. we could see every detail of the set...all the jewels...everything.. like did you know that the red chairs they sit in in the hotel lobby have dice on them?? we didn't..but we saw it tonight!! and just..everything is soooo much closer. they were like literally on top of us. it was unreal.

Afterwards....Greg tried to get a note to us to stay in our seats, because there was a talk-back, but we didn't get it..so we went to the stage door and kevin told us to go back to our seats, that Greg would meet us there. so we did. and he did!! I met Kerrie and Ryan (who gave me L5Y at intermission) and um..the people for talk-back didn't show up. so the co-director, Greg, and Laura were there to talk to us..we did a backstage tour thing, and we just kinda hung out and talked. it was a group of kids from the acting school thing...Kerrie and her friend, and me and my family. then the actor-kids left and we took pictures and saw the stage and just hung out for a bit...we were there until 11:30-ish..which is like a 45 minute tour thing. it was awesome. i learned a ton about the show and the set, and it was so cool to get to just hang out with Greg like that. and laura was so nice too. she acts the same off stage as on lol

so we said our goodbyes, and he shook everyones hands...but i got a big hug and a kiss on the cheek!! i could've died..sooo cute. i was like ummm your amazing. lol

but Greg was awesome. So nice and just...ugh i love him! lol BUT guys..i totally forgot to give him the poster i made!!! so i'm gonna mail it to him. i'm gonna let him know that its coming cuz i feel so bad that i forgot about it lol. but yeah. sooooo i think thats all. after this weekend i'll get my pics up..i don't have a digital so we have to wait for me to get them developed lol. but yeah. so basic rundown...Greg is my hero and i love him..soo talented and amazing, Norb is an amazing singer, and actor, and he really connects with his audience...Laura is a great singer...John is..John. hes awesome.

oh the only sad thing was that we didn't see anyone else.. we saw and hung out with Greg and Laura, but we didn't even see Norb or John or Joanna. but whatever. Greg is way more important than them. i was so impressed he knew who i was...ok i'm done now. sorry that its extra super long re: The Official Greg Jbara Love Thread PART 2!!!! but...best night ever..EVER.

xoxo

My turn haha. Kat and I BOTH won the lottery today so we got the seats right behind where Norbert comes out (Box 50 I believe). He was kinda surprised when Kat and I didnt react like OMG your here! when he came out because we expected him. He gave Kat the peace sign lol. Anyway, the show as Ali said was amazing as usual. Good audience though they didnt really come alive till Act 2. Norbert is and will always be my fav actor and after tonight's show, I respect him more than ever. He was clearly still sick (ie sweating a storm, heard some LOUD coughing after he left the balcony box) but he still gave 93% which means of course, he was frickin' incredible. I noticed from being so close that he has this wierd feature. When you see him close, he looks 10 years younger (ie his actual age). Yet while you see him from a distance, he looks 45. Strange indeed.
I felt bad watching John because last time I caught Dennis, and I thought he was pretty good. Then John came and completely blew poor Dennis out of the water. I realized that John really brings a lot more to his character that Dennis failed to portray.
Laura was very, very good as Chirstina. It was shocking to see a Dark-Haired Christina but she was very cute, very funny, and had a nice voice. I was very pleased to see such a nice performance. I missed Sherie but Laura was a very fine understudy.
Greg, Sara, and Joanne have given 4 consistently excellent performances. Not much to say about that. They just did every thing right. They were as awesome as always. Overall, it was a great show and now eagerly awaiting show #5.
Of course the evening was made more complete and gratifying because Kat and I had dinner with the lovely and luminous Kerrie and her friend Cat (forgive me if I spelled your name wrong -it's Shoshana thats doing it, I swear!). It was great fun and I hope we do it again soon. Also, I am glad I managed to catch Ali and get her the DVD. Hope you like it! I'll post some more tomorrow so have a good night.
Oh let me just add that I asked (well pleaded) Norbert if they could please make a Last Five Years movie with Sherie and he before it was too late. He said that there are talks about it being made. Heres hoping! Night.
