Dre, this "kiss" was just a joke with Kerrie and Greg. Basically people always wonder what Kerrie and Greg do because she's backstage a lot. So they just made it look like they were kissing as a joke. Nobody saw the image so I guess the joke wasn't realized until later. Anyway, I found it hilarious, lmao. But the pic isn't on the slideshow just in case somebody actually thought it was real. That was about it, just a big prank! lol.
Sooooo...Rented wedding date and sisterhood of the traveling pants tonight...
Wedding date was odd because she ends up with a male hooker*cough* I mean "escort"...Quel Romantic
And traveling pants was odd cause it was about fricken magic pants...
The end by blucat500...
LOL, ur so funny, cat.
dre (and anybody else)-nobody else saw that? tom was like, pointing at greg, and greg had no pants on, and he looked like he really needed to go to the bathroom. either that, or he was trying to cover his lower body with his dress shirt. and i dont know if it was intentional to make us laugh, or it was b/c they forgot the cam was on, lol. i never know these days.
the kiss looked SO REAL. oh my frickin gosh, i laughed my head off when i saw that pic! but, wow. if kerrie was looking to freak me out, she did! haha
Wow, this explains a lot. Will post about my whole day momentarily but I was soo confused...went w/ Kerrie to dinner, walked over to DRS stage door, she went back while I said hi to some ppl, then figured I'd wait for her to come down before I went in since I had nothing better to do...and waited...and waited...and waited..till it was friggin 8:00 and I was like where the hell is she?? Now I know...
And Kerrie you wanna know the saddest part? You said you wouldn't be long so when you came back I was gonna joke about well maybe you're not doing such secretive stuff since someone would hafta be hellish talented for it to get done that quickly...I'm dirty...but now, I realize that it didn't take short time at all...sure the cam was on...but, this is starting to freak me out and even this is getting a little too sarcastic for me so n/m, but if it's possible for me to see, I want to. And how long were you there for Kerrie? You weren't that far, I wonder if you heard my screams...
so umm yay drs
Hey all. Going to bed now but I spent the whole night working with Liz on the NLB site. Man is she talented. I can't wait to everyone gets to see the phenomenal logos and pics she has created.
Okay, ready for a long post for even what I usually write, fun fun day...(OT, board was kinda slow today...anyway...)
Will try to kepe the rest brief. Woke up at 11 instead of 10 b/c I set my alarm for PM...gah, really gotta stop doing that...parked on 105th and met my friend for lunch, took subway over to Producers...got a $36 last row ticket(b/c I was meeting my friend I couldn't make it for rush or lotto tickets so I had to get a cheap advanced ticket).I'm not a huge fan of balconies, but this one really wasn't that high. I'm glad I went back, it was my second time ever seeing it, saw it for the first time a year ago. Hunter was great once again and it was great to see Gary Beach back as Roger and Jai as Carmen, he was hysterical. Also fun b/c i got more parodies now than I did a year ago. Moved down to last row orch second act despite show being soldout, so was fun. Waited by stage door for a while no one came out, and then I was alone.
So then I headed over to DRS. Saw Holly chatted for a bit, told me Greg hadn't come out which meant that Mamie hadn't either. Fortunately, they came out in a couple of min. Were talking, I just stood in front and Mamie almost walked away till I grabbed her arm-gah, oblivious people. We walked/sat for a bit till we met Kerrie at DRS lotto. There must have been like 100 ppl there. There were 5 of us entering plus another friend of mine texted me before asking me to help at DRS lotto which made me laugh but she didn't win either. we said bye to Mamie then, I saw her later. There were like no cheap tickets available to anything--everything was out of rush tickets and there were like 5 bway shows on tkts, craziness. Anyway, we went for pizza, then headed over to DRS stage door, then I went in.
Seat was amazing--like the first row at the Imperial is great but even that's a teeny bit down, this row was just perfect. Was sad b/c I was surrounded by older folk who I doubted I would be able to entice to clap/scream along w/ me. Ah well. Was a bit excited to see Joe as Freddy again, knowing him much better now and after having seen him in Feeling Electic. Of course I missed Norbert but I'm sure I'll see him soon. Show started, I get big grin on my face. Give Greg a huge scream solo and then embarassly sink back in my chair(habit to feel a tad embarassed, ah well). Was enthusiastic as I could be, didn't get ppl to clap along w/ me for certain things as much as I did w/ dre last time. Really not many bloopers, but a very clean, excellent performance. John looked like he was trying not to laugh at one part during Ruprecht but he didn't. Other notes on performance:
I ended up very glad to see Joe again. I remembered he was definitely an adequate fill-in, but I felt I was being biased towards Norbert. I do think Joe improved on a bit of areas, and really there was just...sliding down the stairs and I mean not quite as involved beef jerky rolling, but those are the only parts I think Joe wasn't as good as Norbert--he really was great! I said after Feeling Electric I really do think he has a better voice than Norbert and it showed tonight! He was hitting things beautifully, and did the high notes of DRN, which I realized I dearly missed and was very very happy to hear them live in the show. Really put a nice emotion and voice into Love Is Your Legs. His dancing has improved since last time, NOrbert is clearly the better dancer, but last time I felt Joe did a lot less in GBS and little moves like dancing while pulling his pants down or the leg-thing Ruprecht does at the end of the song he missed, he had down this time, I was impressed. and his acting is great--his southern accent is probably more accurate. I mean the one thing I feel a tad which isn't his fault is something in the dynamic is weird...like...maybe it's the height but Norbert has a slightly more younger quality to him, that I think was the big thing that stood out last time I saw the show. Felt it here a bit, but was very pleased w/ Joe's performance, he's a great performer, I hope he goes places.
Everyone else was their usual wonderful selves if not better. After my experience last time, I have never been more grateful to have John back as Lawrence, as much as I loved his performance always, I really now realize what he brings to the mix and how a badly played Lawrence can detract from the show. Sherie still hits amazing high notes that I have no clue how she does...ooh and I felt like while she was crying to John and he started giving her money, she got a kinda evil grinnish look in her eyes before she went back to crying, if so, that's awesome, great for the character, and would prob have been difficult for me to catch otherwise. Joanna was especially on tonight, hitting her notes w/ a great clarity I haven't heard since my first couple of times seeing the show. Good for her. Sara as usual was a rapid ball of energy, got big cheers after Oklahoma! And a certain other principle actor...well i did notice a lot of cheers at the curtain call, not many ppl were standing other than me, but it was enough to catch my eye to kinda make a wow, that's suprising and pretty awesome face.
Oh, and ensemble was great as usual. Was right near Laura as the usher, saw a lot of priceless facial expressions she made(apparently she saw me even though I was 5 seats in so I was happy, I didn't know if she knew I was there). Zeroed in on some more good faces ppl make. Oh and Matt Wall has replaced Michael Patersono(sp?) in ensemble...accordian player for one main part...and well...he very well may be cuter than Stephen Campenella
And speaking of faces earlier on...now lotsa times when I see not only DRS but other shows where I know ppl, I always make up times when I'm like oh they soo winked at me and I'd see them at the stage door and they'd be like oh I didn't know you were here which led me to believe I imagined the wink. But yeah, during the scene where Jolene is checking out of the hotel, and John and Joe are on the seats w/ the papers and Greg is between them, I looked at him and he had to have been looking at me...so I made a fish face(I like making faces during shows) and he raised his eyebrow at me, and I coulda sworn it actually was at me, but left open the possibility I imagined it but then after the show I said I think I might have seen you look and raise your eyebrow at me and he said when I was between the papers right? yeah I was looking at you the whole time till they put the papers down and I was like yaay I finally caught a stare/gesture and didn't imagine it. Ahem. Anyway...
Umm...guess that's all to say about the actual show...ehh could always add more if I think of something else to say...okay now intermission I talked to the ppl behind me, warning them I will be standing as soon as the ensemble comes up and begged them not to yell at me, they laughed, said they were glad I warned them, and thought it was incredibly rude of anyone to tell me to sit down so I was good...so yeah stood up right away, pretty sure I was the only one but I didn't care...it was pretty awesome, got a big wave and smile from Dennis and saw Rak realize I was there as she crossed her stage b/c she kinda made an oh and then smiled and waved and stuff like that hehe Mamie says the Imperial is becoming a second home to me, maybe I should reconsider my title of whore if that is the case...so obviously stood through for everyone else, like I said Greg got a lot of noticable cheers. He made the BCEFA speech, I was excited. He was very eloquent I noticed in certain words, discussed some of the charities BCEFA goes to, seemed really into it and like it meant something, so I was glad. He also joked about when Rachelle modeled a shirt that the shirt was for sale, not Rachelle, though they'd prob make a lot of money if Rachelle was...mentioned Carols for a Cure but didn't plug himself, I was disappointed...heh and when he was done he said and in the spirit of generosity you may now all return to your standing ovation. LOL. As a general comparison, I thought his speech was much better than John Tracey Egan's at the Producers.
Was going backstage, but saw Laura at the stage door before I went in...I mean really for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting or chatting with this beautiful, incredibly sweet woman, you really should. We hugged and she told me she saw me from the beginning and yeah...stupid story where my voice gets high when I'm excited and Kevin decides to start imititating and making fun of me, which was totally unnecessary and I wasn't thrilled.
Then Greg and a little group of I later found out they were old friends of Julie's came down, and he briefly took us around. I actually barely talked the whole time, could you believe it? I just said hi to everyone, made sure it was okay for me to take pictures, and asked the group if they wanted me to take their pic, which I did. but yeah I'm really glad I went to remember pics, nice to hear some stage stories of how things work again and I got pictures of the seats/audience view from the stage, the Liza Minelli costco lamp, the bed w/ a prop on it I couldn't tell(it was already dark), and the bike w/ the casino wheel...maybe one more prop picture. only went in the stage, so then we went out, where Mamie came back to try to get autographs. Then Sherie came out(def think she's coming out more at nights), took a couple pics including one w/ me(Kerrie you're now forgiven for losing my pic w/ her that you took), and briefly chatted, told her she was great at Costello concert, etc. Then Sara came out and I took a pic w/ her and we discussed which of is worse athletes since she sucked at softball and I suck at bowling. Chatted w/ ppl a bit then everyone left. Mamie and I went to a diner b/c I had a really light dinner, left about midnight. Fun story about how half the subways aren't in order this weekend and loong story of finding my way back to my car but eh not important plus I'm exhausted. Well...Amanda lives up to her reputation.
Mamie, Kerrie, it was great seeing you guys! Mamie, you're not really old, my mom's older than you, and Kerrie I'm sure I'll see you soon.
Goodnight all!
Yaay Ryan and Lizzie! I'm very excited. (And obviously, I couldn't "poke" Norbert tonight, sorry)
OMG,AMANDA!
I LOOOOOOVE JOE!!
tehe. the end.
i kinda miss hearing him sing love is my legs! hahaha
Morning everyone.
Great slideshow, as always Barb.
Sounds like a good time Panda. Cannot wait to see pictures and read what Mamie has to say about everything.
Ryan- Had an awesome time working with you last night! That was so much fun!

Yes, the site is going very well. I have been deemed the head of special features and the website ambassador, which means I get to think of new games and contests and all that jazz. The ambassador part just means that I answer any questions people might have. Heh.
Sitesitesitesite....
Queen of the long posts....wow Amanda. And I trust you are still game for Rent this week and DRS AGAIN next sat?
Some day I probably will see Joe as Freddie but right now I just can't see anyone playing him besides Norbert. Its not fair to be biased for Norbert and be unwilling to see Joe so one day I will indeed have to see Joe go on. I gave Dennis a chance and he wasn't too bad. But I really do not want to see DRS unless Greg and Norbert are there. They and John make it. (And I agree about Laura, she is super hot and very talented)
Oh and after last night, the site has improved drastically! The delay from Norbert has turned out to be a good thing in the end for sure. Tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. My cowebmasters have some fantastic ideas that as they are being implimented, will make the site much more accesible and enjoyable. Oh, and the games Gav and I haved planned are going to be a blast (No Hints haha).

lol - I hadn't intended to stay that long, but Katie and Rose were occupying themselves alright and it was nice chatting with Greg. Stayed until after the opening number.
Man I'm tired and I don't know why. I need to go memorize my scene.

great review Amanda
I am glad I could see the "kissy" picture with Kerrie but I knew I would not see it again on the slideshow
So, probably only Sarah, Jamie, Barb and me were the lucky ones who saw it!

omg, can you believe that the Sound of music was filmed 40 years ago...and only Nicolas Hammond is still famous (Fridrich)...
Julie Andrews is quite famous!!
LOL Liz that made me spit my water out.
Wait who is this Julie Andrews you weirdos speak of?
Annnnd obviously the woman to the far left is the most famous, as she is obviously the mummified corpse of Queen elizabeth...duh!
Hello everybody. Thank you so much for all the nice words you've noted here. I can honestly say that the entire day went WONDERFULLY well!
There really isn't anything I can say about the show or the performances that Amanda hasn't already covered. The full cast was in and they were all absolutely fantastic. I told Greg later that it seemed like the show was over in a rapid 20 minutes. In fact, I've never had time fly by so quickly.
Greg had told me that he might be collecting for BC/EFA and if he was, he would be at the far right door on the 46th street side. If he wasn't there, he'd be in his dressing room and he'd leave a note for Kevin to let me in. I was sure he wasn't collecting because he and all the principal members of the cast remained on stage while John delivered the BC's speech. I'm still glad I checked that 46th Street door though. Everybody's favorite bell boy was standing there, in uniform, with basket in hand. I would have missed him if I had left via any other doorway.
To be perfectly honest, I went right in without anybody checking whether I should be there or not. I can't guarantee that this would always be the case so unless you're Amanda or Kerry, I'd suggest that you make sure you're on the list first!
Just a knock on the door and Greg was right there, welcoming me in. Now - I'd like to say that it was exciting and fun seeing the famous dressing room with the famous monkey toys and the famous candy jar and the famous water bottle and famous sink and famous Bunny Foo Foo robe. But in truth, I don't remember seeing ANY of it. From the time I walked in and sat down, Greg and I were talking and we never stopped long enough just to look around. He asked me to sign the guest book and we were still talking so much that I didn't even do a very good job of that!
What we were talking about was an old book about the Sadlers Wells and Old Vic theatres in England that I had given Greg as a 'thank you' for inviting me back. The book had belonged to a young teenage girl in London during the war. (That would be World War II kiddies!) She loved going to the theatre and getting her little programs autographed at the stage door. (Isn't that a strange thing to do?) Anyway, this book was full of her programs and lots of autographs of various members of the Old Vic company during those war years. I wasn't sure if Greg would want something like that but he seemed genuinely pleased to receive it. Later on he introduced me to Julia and she said he was absolutely thrilled with it - so I'm delighted I chose it!
The back stage tour was so incredible and detailed and fascinating that I never remembered to pull out my camera. Not even once! It was just he and I and we went all over the place back there. He explained the workings of the sets and showed all the detailed 'glitz' in the design. (I did get a little hyper-ventilated when I spotted the famous hand cuffs sitting in a dish on the side!) But this wasn't all - we also went to the dressing rooms, the electricians, engineers, wardrobe folks, hair shop folks (where I saw the wigs for Christine, Lawrence, and Jolene all in a row. On the shelf - the usher's wig!) I did say something to Greg about being urged by a certain Hungarian to try and steal John's wig. Greg said he was pretty sure that I wouldn't get very far with a $3,000 wig in hand. I'm sure I bored him and all the folks I met with my unending, brain-numbing questions. But this was a first for me and for all I know, it would never happen again. I had to get everything out of it I could.
We parted company on the sidewalk outside the theatre, after running into this total stranger - Amanda. Had she not been there, I might have followed him home! LOL.
Some points that loom large in my mind today:
- The excitement that came over me when Greg and John started singing "Give Them What They Want". They mimic each other's moves with a swinging right arm. For some reason that one, simple, graceful move just told me 'you're in for a special treat now!'
- When down in wardrobe I mentioned to Greg that I had done some work for the costume shop at the Shakespeare Theatre in DC. He asked if that was Michael Kahn's Shakespeare Theatre and (even though I know just how famed Michael K. is) I was somewhat overwhelmed to discover that he knew of the theatre. He then said that he had learned that Michael was leaving Juilliard. He said that MK had been one of his professors there. (Of course I then had to put in a pitch for GJ to come here and do some classical theatre work!)
- Amanda is a dear girl who desperately needs to develop some new interests! LOL. She's around that stage door so much that everyone there knows her immediately. She asked me whether I had noticed any bloopers in that afternoon's performance. Let me warn all of you out there that Amanda's idea of a blooper is a napkin on a plate being folded differently or a jewel from the curtain being missing. No - I made that up, but she really does know this show too well. And you think she writes a lot? You should hear her talk!!! LOL, honestly I believe she can talk non-stop for an hour without ever catching a breath!. Anyway, I was delighted to meet you Amanda and the others from this board.
- Kerry, watch out or you'll be the new adopted non-cast member of the cast. (I believe that's how Amanda and I decided she should be called.) As for any hanky-panky between Kerry and Greg is concerned - I believe that he is far too smart to mess around with a kid (even a cute one like Kerry) when he has that wonderful, golden girl Julie at his side. She's a stunner and if you really want an eyeful - wait till you see the two of them walking down the street together!
- Greg is truly the nicest guy I've ever met at the theatre and I consider my life enhanced as a result of the meeting. Now - if that isn't high-brow enough for you, get this: He is absolutely DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! I mean he's good looking on screen and through this cam, but in person? NO CONTEST. He just doesn't need any makeup to get 'pretty'!
Aww, it was so nice to meet you, Mamie! Glad you had such a wonderful time.
Yay mamie...you definetly remember more than I do from when I went...
Hey look...I used the right form of "than"...
