Switching CDs...Aida to Spelling Bee!
Ulgh, temporary not-being-at-GW depression is appearing.
See as an honors student I could have taken introduction to Washington theatre where we saw a play every week. That was bad enough. Now my friend tells me this upcoming semester, she's taking a class called The Golden Age of Musicals
I want classes like that!

hi girls, thanks. (this will be only my tryout-week but I hope they will like my work)
Oh, Mamie did you actually said that about the wig?
Oh, dear or dear...everyone knows now that I am a freak...God...and 3000 dollars??? Wow.
Anyway I still think that John looks better without it.
liz - please explain to me who the hell is Julie Andrews? Could I see her in something??
"liz - please explain to me who the hell is Julie Andrews? Could I see her in something??"
...do you mean Julie Andrew as in the actress from Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, The Princess Diaries and other such things? 'Cuz yeah I love that woman to death.
So sad I missed out on Saturday's webcame (Mamie, dear, you looked lovely). I went home to see my friend's in "Oklahoma!" at my old high school. I haven't seen the show before, but it was pretty amazing.

Today was the best day ever. I went bowling with some friends and we all managed to do something incredable. Minus Mel because she's a wus. I threw my ball in the air and almost hit the celing (their kind of low but I think that's still a feat) and then it hit the alley with a huge thud. My friend Jess threw a gutter ball, but the ball stopped half way and then proceded to roll back down the alley to Jess. My cousin threw her ball into the lane next to us instead of out own.
I thought I saw my friend Sean at the bowling alley so I thought it would be funny to give him a stalker call. I called him and got his voicemail and left a message like "I love your green hoodie. How could you walk right by me and not say hello. I hate you.... Have fun bowling. Call me" but about 20 min later realized that this guy was not my friendd, so I had to call him back and apologize to him. That was quite embarrising.
Then Jess and I beat the crap out of our friend Derek while watching the film 'Elephant' becasue he's stupid.
Mamie: WoW, sounds like you had an amazing night. I hope you felt the robe. And you got to see Andrew up close in his bell boy outfit. You are so lucky.
Hahaha Traci and Annie. Traci, would you mind if I quote your story next time at bowling? Perhaps use it if I get dangerously close to a 30s score again to make me feel better...
BTW, forgot b/c you asked for this, took pics on disposable cam again, they really tend to come out better, and my digital cam is spazzy. So right now I have 21 pics left on that. Should get quite a bit at the rent Q&A on the 22nd. And hopefully from the Red Carpet, and maybe ice cream w/ Matt. Damn, disposable cameras encourage me to take pics, which I like. So will try to finish up the role as soon as I can to show them.

I have just watched the 40th anniversary Mary Poppins dvd (oh, I didn't even realised yet that Julie is also in the movie ), and there is something I should say:
There is a premiere video where you can see Celeste Holm (I hope you all know who Celeste is), and her looks, smile, moves and speaking voice is exactly like Joanna's. Just check it!
Thank you all for the lovely thoughts.
Yes, I did get to see Andrew up close and in uniform. He was standing between two doors that lead out to 46th Street. I was delighted to leave my donation with him.
I not only didn't get to touch Bunny Foo Foo, I didn't see it either. Or the monkeys. Or anything else really. As soon as I got there, Greg showed me to a seat and handed me the guest book to sign. At the same time I gave him my little book as a gift. Since there was a bit of a story that went with mine, I started telling him about it while I wrote. He had some questions too and that really took up all the time. Jack came in and Greg introduced us. I told Jack that he had developed quite a fan following of his own as a result of the cam. Greg then asked me to pose for a pic with him in front of the cam and then we were off for the tour. It seemed like I was in there for all of about 2 minutes tops. I knew he was probably anxious to get home for the short spot between shows and I didn't want to hold him up. Knowing this just added to my amazement that the tour he gave me went on for so long! I was introduced to a lot of people and Greg even got a chance to meet a few folks downstairs that he hadn't met before. It really was terrific.
Oh, I forgot to mention that we did get into the pit and it was pretty fascinating seeing the house from that viewpoint. I do think that claustrophobia would get to me if I had to work down there every night. I did see a lot of the stage money that had fallen down there. I picked up a piece and told Greg I liked to keep a piece of flotsam from each show tucked into my Playbills. I didn't realize until last night when I looked at it that it had the Imperial Theatre's name on it. That made it kind of special, don't you think?
Something else happened at the stage door later that evening. I was standing by the guard rails with a young lady who was also waiting for her favorite cast members to come out. Since I had stupidly forgotten to take any photos while backstage, I asked her if she would mind taking a picture of me with Greg. Of course this came shortly after Kevin had made one of his announcements to everybody warning them NOT to ask any of the cast to pose for pics with them. She mentioned that and I said I was pretty sure that was for the cast members who were just too tired to pose. I knew that Greg always posed for pics and he wouldn't mind. She said she'd be glad to and would I mind taking a pic of her with Norbert? She had come to the stage door that night specifically to get a picture with him and with Sherie. I had to disappoint her by telling her that Norbert wasn't in that evening's show. She really was disappointed but she still agreed to wait with me in order to take that photo. She deserves the credit for it coming out so nice!
We chatted for a while and I showed her my unique Playbill with only Joanna's autograph on it. I told her that I thought I might just keep it unique by only asking Greg to sign it. That way I'd have my own favorite couple's autographs. She thought that was a good idea and just at that moment John came rushing out the door. He immediately came over to me and took the Playbill out of my hand and signed it and then went on. I just turned to the girl and said "on the other hand, getting everybody's autographs would be nice too!" She seemed really disappointed that my idea of the special Greg/Joanna Playbill had just been ruined. I told her it was really all right. I said "Do you believe what you just said? You said you were sorry that I had just gotten John Lithgow's autograph!!!" We both had to laugh over that one. Believe me Annie - you were in my thoughts the whole time!
When Greg came out he signed it too and posed (as you can see). Suddenly Sherie came out the door and she also started signing and posing for pics. I tried to find the lady who had been waiting for her and saddly, she had disappeared by then. I really hadn't expected to see anyone after Greg came out so seeing Sherie was a treat. Of course my pen had disappeared by then so Sherie ended up signing it with a ball point pen. I saw Amanda then and walked over to her. She pointed out Sara and asked if I didnt' want to get her autograph too. Of course I did but once again - no pen. This time Greg came to the rescue with one of his own pens and so I had Sara's signature added to the others. In fact, right now I'm only missing Norbert's. Don't you think that's a perfectly legitimate reason to go back and see the show again? LOL.
It was about this time that Greg introduced me to Julie. For a while it looked like everybody was milling about on the sidewalk outside that theatre. I'm sure they don't do that every night, so this really did feel like a special treat to me.
Last night I went to put my stage money into my Playbill and tuck the Playbill into a binder. The Playbill just opened up to the page where Greg's biography appears. That's when I discovered that he had written me a little thank you note right across the biography and then he had signed it again. I didn't even notice him doing it. He really is a darling man!
Annie - I did say that about the wig, but I never said anything about your suggestion to stalk John. So you're still safe.
(Of course we now all know that Greg reads this thread, so maybe you aren't so safe after all!)
By the way, I do indeed know who Celeste Holm is and I was thrilled when I met her at a party one evening. She is truly a legend of stage and screen! I hadn't made the connection between her and Joanna before, but I can see the similarities. That may be one of the reasons why I like Joanna so much!
Panda, you are more than welcome to quote my bowling stories. I am in fact proud of the feats that my friends and I accomplished. It's not just anyone who could pull those things off.
Mamie: thats so cute that Greg wrote you a seprate note in your playbill.
"liz - please explain to me who the hell is Julie Andrews? Could I see her in something?? "
I love you Annie LOL.
Mamie - what did the girl look like? She actually sounds like someone I may know. lol
Okay, so I'm just dropping in to say hello. Just worked with my scene partner. We're doing a scene from Assassins and it is SO much fun. I'm Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme and I'm crazy. It's great.
Tonight, Inside the Actors' Studio is filming at my school. They have been for a couple months, only I haven't gone to a taping yet. But I'm going tonight because Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane and Susan Stroman are going to be there. EXCITEMENT. I'll be sure to report back when it's over.
Later!
Aww yaay for adding another long post to an already long post Mamie! See an hour or two w/ me is already rubbing off on you
I know exactly what you mean about seeing nothing in the dressing room. We didn't get the address book, but we basically were fascinated by the cam and then I gave and explained my gifts and I think he had somewhere to be. I came home and watched the bway.com DRS video and looked at his dressing room and sadly came to the conclusion that I didn't pay attention or really remember any of it. Oh well. I've been back twice since, but that's just been restricted to the stage. Ah well. Perhaps someday, if not I'm still quite grateful. Though interestingly enough I do remember him pointing out things and when he showed us that, I said "okay, I'm just gonna keep a distance from that sink." Appropriate.
Oh, that reminds me, rotfl! Mamie, do you remember this? When he came out and was signing, those two Asian girls were a bit shy and said oh...we wanted to ask you something...umm, do you still pee in the sink?? ROTFL! I started laughing hysterically Greg said "What? I don't know at all what you're talking about!" Hahaha.
I felt bad for another girl you were w/ Mamie, she asked to take a pic of Sherie who posed, but then Sherie was taking pics w/ ppl on the other said and the girl was just trying to obey a certain person who I don't need to mention/talk about. Hrmph.
And finally, hey Greg's not the only one to the rescue...I called Sara over when she was getting ready to leave, I started getting a sharpie out when Greg did, but his was first. So excuse me, Greg AND Amanda to the rescue.
And you are missing many autographs besides Norbert's.
Oh the milling thing...no, I suppose it doesn't happen every night, but it's happened occasionally. Sometimes Greg's there in the evening as late as you were in the matinee, by that time the stage door is basically clear, so we'll mill sometimes, Sherie came out once and kinda walked down the street w/ us before going the other way. But yes, it still is a treat.
I have class at 1. Oops. Ah well, teacher doesn't care i fyou're late.
hey all. just popping in to say hi.
hi.
oh, and Kerrie, you are so lucky! I can;t wait to see Producers. man, i wish I could live in NY.
oh, watching titanic now. love that movie. specially the music.

whoa we're watching titanic in history! i really don't know why though, we aren't talking about anything remotely related to titanic.
Sorry Amanda - I didn't see you pull out your pen. I mean Greg was right there and you expected me to look at you? HA HA HA!!!
ANYWAY - you couldn't be more right about the girl standing next to me. I tried to find her so I could get her picture for her but she had disappeared. KERRY - she told me that she had come all the way from home just to get a picture with Norbert and Sherie. I asked her where home was and she said (I'm not making this up) "Well, actually I live at Lincoln Center. It only takes me 5 minutes to get here." She reminded me a little bit of you - pretty girl with dark hair, a little taller maybe and her hair wasn't as long as yours.
I don't remember seeing the Asian girls. Were they the twin sisters? Barb has their picture on his web page.
I sure wish there was a way of getting a copy of that video on Broadway.com. It would be nice to see it whenever you want.
By the way - I just remembered this. On the way to the theatre I was walking next to two guys who were discussing what show they wanted to see that night. One was promoting DRS. He told the other that he would really like it. He said 'that guy who stars in it won the Tony. You know - that guy Norbert. Leo. Leo Norbert." And the other guy said "Yea - Leo Norbert. He's pretty funny." (Too bad Leo wasn't there to meet them.)
And I am only missing Norberts. Remember, I started out only wanting 2 autographs and I already had one of them!
mamie- here is the video of the backstage stuff with greg mentioning the sink:

Thanks sweetie. I was just thinking it would be nice to have a copy to see without logging onto the Internet.
