Oh mamie, that christmas cookie looks delicious, and I can see one with my name...that's mine?
Hi Annie.
It's only yours if I adopt you! That Annie cookie is for my oldest niece. Her husband is Greg and their baby is Oliver. You can see all their cookies in that picture. (Greg will probably get Oliver's cookie to eat since the little one doesn't have any teeth yet!)

lol. Annie's husband is Greg (are you sure his name is not John or something)
Well, then adopt me...we don't bake this kind of christmas cookies here so I don't know it's taste.
My sister and I split the baking duties and by the time we're done we'll have made almost 20 different varieties. We put them on special holiday plates and give them to neighbors and friends as Christmas gifts.
(By the way - Annie's husband is Greg but her dad is John. Is that close enough?)

yeah
Wow, that's a nice custom. And I guess your back is hurting right now...after that all-day-baking.
LOL - you have wonderful insight! Yes, my back is hurting. Also my legs. Fortunately I can wait a few days before starting the next ones. I can get the gingerbread cookies done early because they last so long. The others shouldn't be made until closer to Christmas. They I really will be tired!

gingerbread cookies. Hm...I don't know that either...maybe that's the kind of cake we call "fruit cake" and in the american movies these are always trown out? (Just guessing)
When we bake this in a cake we call it gingerbread. It's delicious when it's still warm out of the oven and you put a little whipped cream on top!
The cookies have the same flavorings and they come out very crispy. The flavorings for both are ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and a pinch of black pepper. It's sweetened with molasses instead of sugar. These are also called spice cookies.
There's no fruit in these. Fruitcake is a whole different thing! (And for the record - I make a wonderful fruitcake that NOBODY throws away!)

lmao. okay...okay so I probably wouldn't throw out any fruitcake.
sounds delicious that too. But you know, sweets are okay but for us Hungarians the most important thing is Fishsoup ...made from carp - I don't think you have one there it's not a sea fish. (but nowadays many hungarian eats turkey).
Well, all my cookie recipes (and the tradition of making them) come from the German side of my family. We grew up here in Virginia and we had all girls and one boy in the family. 2 doors down the street was this wonderful big Italian family with all boys. We kind of 'adopted' each other. Our parents became best friends and we all grew up feeling just as 'at home' at each other's houses as at our own.
SO - every Christmas we go to their house for a huge traditional Italian Christmas dinner. The Italians celebrate Christmas eve with a feast of 7 fishes. This family makes a big seafood stoop (a made-up word for something that's halfway between soup and stew) out of 7 different varieties of seafood. It changes but it almost always has cod, clams, lobster, crab, scallops, and whatever else you can find. It's really delicious!
(note - we can only do this because of where we live. We're so close to the Atlantic ocean and we have the Chesapeake bay right here. Fresh seafood is abundant and it's always easy to find whatever you want!)
Hello everyone. I am here for the afternoon cam before heading to good ole NYC later.
Hi Ryan! So what are you going to be doing in good ol' NYC?
See a show of course. Which one though I have not decided. I may try the Wicked lotto once again for the umpteenth time. DRS maybe next week.
Ah - it must be nice. I'm jealous!
Hello Greg.

Hey all! Didn't have to work my first shift so I'm here for the afternoon cam.
Mamie - those cookies look so cute (and delicious)
Thank you Janelle. I wish there were some way to pass them around. I'd have cocoa and cookies for everyone here. (Although I don't think that would be very many right now!)
I'm here avoiding cleaning my room which is...well, its surpassed most adjective's ability to describe it...

Oh, Mamie...I am drooling right now...where is a tissue...ok, I think I will drink a cup of cocoa. Great idea!
Cocoa is a very international drink, yes?
