Hmmmkay so we finished applauding and I pretty much skipped down the block and around to the 46th st stage door entrace. A bald man who was very pushy opened the stage door and told me if I wanted autographs I had to move. It was scary. I was all "Um...I'm um I'm um supposed to *points behind him* Um I'm meeting..." and he cut me off thank the Lord, with "Who are you meeting? Are you Meghan?" and I nodded very hard and thought my head might come off. So he told me to come in and I said "and that's um, that's um he's my dad." So he let my dad in too! And told us where to go and I was pretty sure my heart was beating in my mouth because I could hear and taste ORGAN.
So we got up to his door and it was closed and I was scared and I stood there frozen for what seemed like YEARS until I knocked on the door. And Greg opened the door and he was SO TALL AND DASHING AND I SWOONED. He grabbed my hand (his hands are so soft and warm *sigh*) And exclaimed "MEGHAN! You're fast!" And then he was all costume'd! So he changed and my dad and I stood there and I stared at the stairs and tried to use my magic powers to make Joanna Gleason come down them.
Anyway Greg opened the door and we came in and he was charming and taking off his make-up. He took out a q-tip and then was like "Oh how rude of me, not offering you one! Would you like a q-tip?" and I said "Oh no thanks, I'm allergic!" and he laughed.
Greg:Is that true?
Me: No. It was a joke and a lie all at once.
Greg: *laughs*
PHEW. So my dad was asking him all about his collage with Julie and the mini-Jbara boys and he told us about his boys and they are SO SWEEEEET. And he was like "We should wave goodbye to the cam now so my webmaster can go to bed" And I got all excited and said "Baaaaaaaaaaarb!" (HI BARB!)
That was the part where I said you guys sent your love, and he was like "For some reason they thought you were supposed to be on the afternoon cam! I got some backlash for that one!" and then I couldn't stop beaming because I felt so special that you all actually cared about me being on the cam. *hugs you all*
I gave him his "spider cookies" and he was so excited. He gave one to my dad and I was like "DAD! Don't eat his cookies, I can just make them for you at home. We don't even have to go to another country to get them!" And Greg laughed and started teasting me like "Oooh Canada isn't even a different country!"
He told us he was going to take a road trip with Julie and the boys and they were going to go through Montreal but then they thought maybe that would be too long of a trip for the wee ones. And we talked about how beautiful Quebec is and how it's like a mini-Europe.
I gave him the card to give to JoGleas and he was like "I'd take you to meet her but she's moving tomorrow morning and left straight away!"
He took us onto the stage where we met the man who's currently playing Amos Hart in "Chicago." He asked us where we were from and we said Nova Scotia. And he went "Aww! My therapist is from Nova Scotia" to which I replied "Miiiiine too." And he and Greg laughed at that and I did too, but in my head was "heh. heh. It's funny 'cause it's true."
He took us onto the stage and I'm pretty sure I started shaking. I EFFING STOOD ON AN EFFING BROADWAY STAGE. And then there was a very "Lion King" moment where Greg put his arm around me and said "This is what you'll see when you get here on Broadway." AHHAHA. I was so close to saying "And this'll all be mine? Everything the light touches..." hahah. I held it in though.
We went backstage and I was THRILLED to learn their PSM calls the show from the wings. That's where I'll be calling my show from and I was all "oooh me too." My dad asked Greg a lot of questions and I touched Muriel's luggage. He was telling us about when the show was rehearsing in San Fransisco and how different it was, and how it's changed since then, again changed in previews, and again changed with Pryce took over.
We went all down to where the quick changes happen and I laughed my face off at the foamy "Lith-guard." Then he showed us the wigs.
Greg: And there's Joanna's bozo the clown wig!
We went out through the stage door and it was like 11:30 and there was still people there waiting! They were really cute, and Greg was very sweet to them. Then my dad took our picture (oooh I have to send that to Barb soon!) And Greg shook my dad's hand and hugged me, then was like "how are you getting back?" we were walking..."which way?" and we told him.
Greg: Ah! Wrong answer, I go the other way.
Awwwwwww.
He asked if we wanted some resteraunt recomendations so he gave us three places to go, then used his palm pilot thing to google the addresses! Gaaaah. He's so amazing and sweet, by this time it's like 11:45 and he's still there being such a gentleman.
I asked him if the places were vegetarian friendly and he was like "ooh! Check out the Whole Foods Mart! You'll love it" and he gave us the adress. And I said "Wow you didn't even have to look that one up!" and he said it was because it's in Joanna Gleason's building (now ex-building) so he knew it off by heart!
Anyway...he shook my dad's hand again and then hugged me again (swoon swoon swoon swoon swoon
SWOON) And I managed to squeek out that he's a wonderful performer and thanked him and he was all "my pleasure! thank YOU!"
and I wanna go baaaaaack.
MWAH! -Meghan
