Anglela received the ultimate compliment from Heidi, who said she wants that dress in every color!

FINALLY, Michael gets some attention! Great job. I can't say I loved the outfit (I think hot pants are stupid) but I love Michael. And the workmanship and styling were perfect. Totally worked as an updated Pam Grier. Congrats to Coffee Filter Boy on getting some well-deserved Runway love. Better late then never.

Angela did well, but I would have placed Alison's Farrah dress in the top three instead. She did a good job, though. However, I really, really LOVED Kayne's. I thought that dress was exquisite top to bottom, and--honestly--it was my favorite creation of the evening.

Laura's Hepburn look was GORGEOUS, but I'm not sure how "modernized" it was. How perfect was it that she wound up with Hepburn, though? Loved the Jeffrey scolding. God, I can't stand that guy. What a dick. Did his neck swell from ink poisoning or something? He has no chin. And his updated Madonna outfit sucked.

Glad to see Michael and his bitchy quips back, which I find frequently hilarious. Re: Vincent's Twiggy dress: "It was more Brady Bunch than Twiggy..."

I loved this ep...the twist having the models choose the designers and the inspirations...fun!

Not sure why people dont like Kayne. I thought he and Michael did an amazing job...I'm VERY glad we are finally meeting Michael, and his outfit for Pam was great. Yes, Angela's dress was also great...but I preferred Alison's look for Farrah...she is my pick to win the whole thing. Every week she is at the top of the pack.

Why would Robert put that damn rope around Jackie O's waist? It was so much like last week's outfit...STOP with the rope! Ugh.

I dont buy that the challenge was unfair. Michael won by designing for a woman who played cops who dressed like hookers in the 70s. Making an outrageous Cher outfit would've been a dream for someone with a clue. He acted like he didnt know who Cher was. Whose to say he knew who Farrah was....he's a dolt.

"Making an outrageous Cher outfit would've been a dream for someone with a clue." Yup! Jay McCarroll would have killed this challenge. I'm totally a Kayne fan, too. As great as his Miss USA dress was, last night's was his best so far. I was drooling over it!

P.S. Yes, Doodle, great minds DO think alike. re: The Official Project Runway summer season thread! I would like to see Alison get some major Runway loving soon. The little touches on the Farrah modernization were really cool...the dress was perfect, the softer '70s do. I thought Uli's dress was awesome the other week (and I like her a great deal), but I would have given the dog challenge win to Alison...what she pulled off was so ambitious. I think Jeffrey just had no vision...wasnt this the second time he didnt know what to do?

He just wasnt up to any of these challenges...seems like Barbie boy is in the same pickle.

I know. And I hope Robert snaps out of it soon because he's got major talent. His strappy bow dress is still one of my fave Runway designs EVER!

I loved Uli's dress as well. Her use of patterned fabrics is really excellent. I thought it was the perfect Diana Ross dress.

I love anything that Lauren does. I thought the pants were both elegant and beautiful.

I think when people are making comments about Kayne, it's not about his designs per se, but his slightly "bitchy" attitude, that has been becoming more and more prevalent as the weeks pass.

I like Uli, but am a bit tired of the "I mismatch patterns" schtick. It worked this week for Diana Ross, but it would've been interesting to see what she'd have done with Hepburn (either) or J.O.

Some of the designer/icon match-ups were almost too right on. Laura and Hepburn? Jeffrey and Madonna? Kayne and Marilyn? How could they go wrong? (Unfortunately, some of them did)

I adored the Hepburn look, and it would have been my choice to win. It was modern looking, and one of the only outfits where I could have looked at it without knowing the challenge and still say, "How Katherine Hepburn is that!"

For some reason, though, I felt like some desingers that I thought would be a perfect fit for their icon were...disappointing. Robert should have turned out a perfect Jackie O'utfit. But even his dog-walker outfit was better than the messy silhouette of the linen suit.

And I disagreed with the only-positive reactions to Kayne and Angela's outfits. Kayne's dress was unflattering to the model from behind (and in this case, I think a little more pageant gay and a little less goth would have been more Marilyn) And Angela (who did not INVENT rosettes, but seems to want the world to think she did) has to learn that less is more. ESPECIALLY when dealing with Audrey. It was one of her best so far, but not flawless, and not so Audrey, execpt that it was a black dress. And does anyone else want to see Michael's Pam outfit in a different color. I LOVE pink, but for some reason do not see Pam Grier in it head-to-toe. A little too Barbie as Foxy Cleopatra for me.

On a side note, Twiggy and Farah are iconic because of their faces and bodies, not what they wore. Twiggy wore whatever a desgner put her in, and it was usually made of vinyl or clear plastic and had daisies on it (read- 60's mod and not so updateable) Farah has Farah hair and a swimsuit poster. Unless you made her a bubblewrap dress, I don't see what you could have modernized there, either. Though Allison did a much better job trying than the Vincent.

-On a theater related note, my boyfriend (who hated Kayne's dress, but would love to own the shirt he wore to the runway) disliked the Marilyn dress because of its similarities to the sort of dress Bernadette Peters has worn (see her London concert DVD) that he also dislikes, and calls the "Unflattering Ass and I Think We Can See Your Vagina" dress look of a dark fabric with ruching over a lighter nude fabric.

" and calls the "Unflattering Ass and I Think We Can See Your Vagina" dress look of a dark fabric with ruching over a lighter nude fabric." BWAH! Hilarious! I can't help it, though, I personally like the black over nude fabric thing. When it's done correctly, the way Kayne did it, the effect can be glorious. I think it worked with the silhouette, the model's gorgeous pale skin, red lips and flaming red hair. Sometimes it fails MISERABLY (i.e. Gwyneth's droopy-boobied Ocar fiasco gown) and sometimes it's perfection (IMO, Kayne's dress). LOOOOOVED it. Updated On: 8/10/06 at 10:15 AM

I liked Kayne's dress, but the fit stopped me from liking it too much. I agree about the silhouette, but it did not lay right on the model (I think my problem was with WHERE the ruching layed across her butt, it almost looked squared off)

I loved it with red hair, too. But I have doubt about how it would work with a blond. Which Marilyn was. I just question the direction in terms of being updated Marilyn. I just always picture her as brighter/lighter. Whites, pinks. Sparkle. Which Kayne does, but shyed away from here. One of the times I have regreted a disigner on this show trying to show range. His typical stuff was more appropriate (I can see Marilyn in his Miss USA dress)

I can't remember Kayne's models name, but all he did was have to tell her that he needed to concentrate on his work. Instead he just, bitched, bitched, bitched and laughed about it.

Blueroses, Martha Raye came to mind when I saw the gown!

Wonderful idea. I'd like to see a Sid & Marty Krofft challenge.

Imagine what Jeffrey would do designing for Sigmund the Sea Monster...

ha ha, i think the models name was amanda. and i will say she did talk a lot but that was a rude comment. i started to notice how rude robert was since the second episode and i think i mentioned it on another site. no one else seemed to notice tho til i said something. hes a great designer (although that hasnt showed the past couple weeks) but he has a really bad attitude

Dottie, I was just joking around b/c of wyou17's avatar. lol.

I was a little surprised that Bradley didn't know a thing about Cher. It's CHER! He's in his thirties. Shouldn't he have some idea of who she is?

re: The Official Project Runway summer season thread!

i haven't read tim's take or seen the stills yet,so i'm just relying on what i saw on the runway last night.
1) cher has been an icon in 4 decades -- pick one. she was a gimme for anybody with a brain. the sixites flower child look w/ the patchwork jeans and furry vests, the 70's disco-fab mackie years (!!!), the 80's exercise look and MOONSTRUCK -- so much to work with. the native american look, the beading etc i could go on...
2) if you think madonna would walk around in that clown suit jeffrey made, think again. he is delusional.
3) kudos to angela for keeping her demons in check but a little black dress is still a little black dress.
4) kayne of many colors surprised me with his goth marilyn. he could have taken it further and made her marilyn manson. the ass was a bit weird on first view, i have to see the pix.
5)FINALLY we see michael as a human being! i loved that nazri picked him. i think she is considered the "best" model, the most desirable. his choice of hot pants was a coup. he said straight out -- "I didn't want pam in head to toe pink..." and pam was luscious, she showed skin and she was a woman who ate a meal, so the bootie shorts were appropriate and perfectly proportioned. contrast that with bradley's crotch-creepers and you will know why he was sent home.
6) jackie o - oh god. what a mess. i wish laura had gotten jackie. michael kors was spot on -- whatever she did was immaculate. he should have been sent home for the linen alone.
7) twiggy was identified with a period and a look. there are iconic photos of her in babydoll dresses that continue to influence fashion and makeup to this day. it's child/woman. the dour colors, the bat sh*t pockets, it looked like halloween at hogwarts or something.
and welcome back michael kors!!! i really missed that phrasemaker.
overall my faves are michael and laura.

I would LOVE to see what Laura would have done for Jackie O, but her Katherine Hepburn was really a perfect fit.

She's been my favorite since the casting special.
