Jeffery's blue and yellow party dress was fantastic and it deserved to beat Micheal's nifty little skirt and bustier. No dress, however, can make up for his superiority complext. I want to strangle his stupidly tattooed neck.
Uli is definitely my favorite, but I think the judges were right about her needing to do something besides a long flowey dress. She could replace Robert if she doesn't mix it up.

me too!

the funny thing is... each of them really did embody their own personal style... and i'm pretty sure that they would all wear what they made... so it must REALLY suck to be kicked off on this particular challenge
i really really can't stand Laura... i'm pretty sure i have at least three of the same dress that she made... ughhh she is so so so boring and tired... i just wish that the judges would call her out on it
my hopes for the top three are Jeffrey, Michael and Uli.... but i would take Kayne and even Vincent over Laura... She definitely needs to go!

oh, and i just have to say, I LOVE LAURA.

Kayne. Oy. Throw on a little fringe and it would be perfect for Johnny Weir at the nationals. Ugh!
Jeff is still a bitter, smug @sshole of a manchild. Therefore, I couldn't be happy for his win. Yeah, he did a good job. But I didn't looove it. Oh yay...leggings! Skinny pants, whatever. He had rhinestones on his schlong. Yeah, yeah...rock and roll! Eh.
He was creative, but I'd have given him the win for his newspaper/graffiti dress instead and given last night's to Michael or Laura.
*shrugs* Sue me, but I loved Uli's dress. I thought the colors and the workmanship were beautiful.

Did anybody else wonder how Laura went from being a twig one week to be very noticeably pregnant the next. Boy did she pop!

Despite thinking that Vincent should've gone home instead of Alison that week, I think they made the right choice last night.

So do I. Jubilee Jumbles deserved the boot for that ugly psychedelic atrocity. But I kinda felt bad for her when Michael said, "you're a mess just STANDING THERE! Imagine how you'll look after traveling." Ouch.
P.S. Isn't Michael sexy?

Here goes...SPOILERS if you haven't seen last night's episode!
OK - Jeffrey's was cool; I actually did like it. but does anyone else think it was a bit predictable? I mean, when Tim said "the jetsetter is you." The first thing that went through my mind for Jeffrey was "rock T-shirt, purple something or other and tight trousers with chains and bits....thank you Dave Navarro for the inspiration." I will admit it did look good, but I could have done without the rhinestone encrusted crotch (and you talk about other people's "insecurities" Jeff?).
Regardless, he is still a big, annoying JERK.
I loved Michael's Hamptons hip-hop look. The shirt was a good choice. I love how easy going he is - Tim makes a suggestion and he really takes it to heart and "makes it work." I think Michael should have won again, but Jeffrey's was also very good.
Loved Laura's dress. I thought it was wonderful - especially all the draping over the bodice. She looked great in it too. And it was nice to see how well it held up on the plane.
Kayne - Oh my, Miss Kayne! The shirt would not have been too bad, had he toned down the pattern. But, having it on the back AND the sleeves looked atrocious. I also thought the flared pants made him look very short. It was funny how "stiff" he seemed on the runway. I would have expected a little "work it girl" from him on the runway, but he was all business!
Uli - I thought this dress was very pretty, and very Uli. Uli is one of my faves, but I think the judges are going to get on her case for always making a wonderful print, halter-top dress. Her dresses are beautiful, but they all have the same basic style (which I love, by the way).
Vincent - black trousers and a gray V-neck. Not much to comment on here...
Angela - Oy vey. Disaster. The top was kind of cute, but too puffy. But those trousers with the reinforced crotch and the rosettes in that waxy looking linen? I didn't like them at all. Poor Angela - she actually is a fine seamstress and is very good with detailing. It's her style that's just too bizarre and not in very good taste. It was kind of sad to see her go in a way, because she seems like a nice person.
Top three? I would take Michael, Laura and Uli. Although I think the judges may let Jeffrey slide in there. Ick. Ick. Rhinestone zipper - ICK!

GAH! Not Kors! lol.

I'd love to see those three in the finals. But Jeff and his Hot Topic bedazzled balls just may slip through the cracks.
xxnewgirlxx - To answer your question, the challenge was to design for a jetsetter. The designers then found out they had to design an outfit for themselves (and model it on the runway). They were judged by Nina, Michael, Heidi and the creative director of womenswear from Calvin Klein. Then, as a surprise, they were being flown to a secret destination on the spot. Turned out it was Paris, where their outfits were evaluated by designer Catherine Malandrino (criteria: how well the clothing held up on a flight).

I agree that Jeffrey deserved to win this week (dang it), slightly over Michael, who I want to win so badly now! He is a doll and SO articulate when explaining his garments. Who didn't love his runway lesson with Kayne :)
I actually thought there were good points to Kaynes outfit (no I didnt grow up in a trailer park!) It fit him well...it acually made him thinner. I also thought it travelled very well.
I am tired of Laura's designs. Simply put.
I am tired of Ulli's designs. I get it. Mismatched print dresses. I get it.
Angela's excuse about not understanding what a jetsetter would wear was idiotic. She threw in the towel...gave up this week. Good!

True. The problem is he didn't know when to stop with that print. It was really, really costume-y.

If she had made a high-end hunting outfit - and claimed where she comes from, jetsetters hunt - well, maybe she could have survived, but what she decided to make made no sense. Something with pockets and and a vest and all that stuff that ... think Dick Cheney!
I wonder how much Jeffrey's constant mind games with her (which he apparently won) had to do with the mess she put together.
The fabrics were all wrong - the colors were just OK - it was more like a wealthy college co-eds travel outfit than anything else ... and enough with the flowers already - know when not to use something for good sake.
It was a close call between her and Kayne. Kayne was just about as bad - except his at least could travel a bit better.
I hated that I like Jeffrey's outfit.

Jeff's crotch would set off the metal detectors at security! ICK! ICK!
If Uli's dress were a bit shorter, I bet that would travel well in real life too.
When I travel, which for work is more often that I like to, I often wear things like light sweaters with wool pants, or jersey knit wrap dresses in dark colors...they don't wrinkle and if turbulence drops a bit off coffee into my lap, I can still be presentable at a meeting! Considering that, and also condsidering comfort, I think Michael, Uli and Vincent were the most "practical" followed by Laura and Kayne.

Yeah, what was up with the semi-naked designers? They filmed them getting changed? I'm sure Laura won't appreciate her girdle...er, "shapewear" being televised. Kayne's boobs and briefs.
Oh, and Vincent just sitting around designing in his boxers...just because?
Posted: 8/31/06 at 11:39am
I think Vincent was in his boxers because he was using the actual pants he had been wearing to construct a pattern for his travel-trousers.
But I'd rather see Vincent in his boxers than Jeffrey's rhinstone bid-ness. ICK! (Did I mention how grossed out I was by that?)
