There's nothing wrong with Chitty being your first show! It's great. ESPECIALLY if it's with Raul. That justifies anything.
Elphie's right! Nothing wrong if a Raúl show is your first Broadway experience!

LOL! Actually, I took my nephew to see Chitty for his first Broadway show. My very big, very southern, TWENTY year old nephew!!!! And he LOVED IT!
Ooh, story time!
It was really funny, because ever since I first got ttB, Taboo, and Rocky Horror, I would play them in my car as I was driving my nephew around. So he got used to Raul's voice. In fact, he started learning the songs!
So when we stage doored the show, Raul came up to my family and my nephew stares him straight in the face and says "Yur dat Green Dress feller ain't cha?!" And Raul was like, "guilty as charged." I was so embarrased. My nephew said " she plays that very loud all the time in the car" and Raul goes "I'm sorry". By this time my whole body is the same shade of red my hair is. My nephew says to him "Don't apoligize, it's acturly perty good. I enjoy irt a lot." I wanted to DIE. I felt so bad for Raul. I don't think he's ever met anyone as nuts as my nephew.

Oh my GOD! I missed the twenty year old part at the beginning. I was thinking, "Aw, that's cute!" *dies laughing*
HAHA! That's a great story.
Chrys! That is hysterical! I wish I had a nephew who wasn't as starstruck as I am with Raúl.
I think that story made my night.
that is the greatest story ever.

I was MORTIFIED.
Mortifying for you.....entertaining for others.
edit: sorry, Chrys. That sounded insincere and mean.

Aww...at least he didn't say it sucked or something. He was spreading the Raul love!
That's the reason I'm not taking my friend Shaine, angelic.
You really can't trust her in a crowd....

LOL! I knew what you meant Britt!
And he new better than to say it sucked. It would have turned from "Chrys' family goes on a theatre outing", to "Chrys' family appears on Jerry Springer."
I guess it's a good thing I can laugh about it now.
And at the same time, it was also a big eye opener. To Raul, the thought of someone blasting him singing made him feel the need to apologize. I can totally understand this because I HATE hearing myself sing. I'm so judgemental on myself and never satisfied. And it made me realize he felt the same way about himself. Which ordinarily to me would seem so crazy. Because when I think of Raul, I think of perfection. He's the best.
So yeah. Interesting perspective.
Do you think it was a surprise to him? Like, the fact that someone finds his voice so beautiful that they'd do that? I wonder, sometimes, if that's sincerely a strange thing for actors to have the notion of.
Sometimes I feel strange putting Anthony's CD on, or something.

I could definately see Raul being surprised. Especially becuase he's so modest when it comes to how talented he is.
I agree, Chrys. I've thought that on occasion, too.
which just makes me admire him all the more. i mean, to hear day after day people praising him and still being taken aback and modest...KITTEN! :)
Counter to modesty: "I AM A MASTER THESPIAN!!" - Chatterbox
But in all seriousness, yes. And it's never been the type of thing to strike me as the typical "aw, gosh. Thanks, but... well...." feigned, courteous modesty. He's so heartfelt about the idea of going on when nobody believes in you -- and maybe it's stems from that story he always tells about the drama competition that he lost, or something.
ETA - KITTEN. It's so true, though, right?!

Meow.
Chrys, that's a great story! I think it's actually funny that Raul said that he was sorry that you've been playing Green Green Dress really loudly.

Where is MyNameInLights?! I miss her so freakin much! (Especially when someone says something like "KITTEN"!)
Yeah, basically they told him had won and then went back to him saying it was a mistake. And that he actually had no future or career ahead of him in show business. I think he even sang "Heroes" for that.
Ha. Ha ha. Well, I say f*ck that sh*t!
*summons MyNameinLights* I let her know we miss her!
And then he said he was "violently depressed!!"
kitten...can i tell you...i totally wrote raul and sappy fangirl letter...and what did i draw a tiny picture of in the corner of the envelope as a little inside joke for myself? a kitten. yup, sure did. :P
AHHHHHHHHHH!!
I am here, and I'm so sorry I haven't been around. I've been swamped so badly with school and the play. I miss you too Chrys!
And as far as Raúl goes, I love him so so so much. What have I missed?
