The Official Raúl E. Esparza "Spread the Love" Thread

Posted: 1/8/06 at 10:57pmThis is a completely insane/bizarre/weird and totally invasive question, but did the underwear he wore during the show change, or was it like costume underwear, so it's the same thing every show? Because in another thing I've seen, he's wearing grey briefs.

I have never seen this picture before, and boy, is he an attractive man.

TUMMY!!
It was just whatever he had on, skittles. I'm so ashamed to say I've thought about that.
#10328feeling the withdrawal
Posted: 1/8/06 at 11:00pmThat makes it even more special! If it had been costume underwear, that would have been strange.

I wish I could have seen Raul in The Normal Heart (or, you know, anything, but particularly that). I've read a lot of reviews and it sounds like he gave an amazing performance.
Ooh, love the picture of him and Euan.

Posted: 1/8/06 at 11:02pmWoah. Can we take a minute (or two) to discuss the size of his hand in that picture, as well as the contrast between the color of his face and his hand? Wow.

I can't believe we're talking about his underwear.
Well, I can, but... well...
His hand is -- no joke -- the size of my head. cough.
sweetestsiren, I say this and mean every word, but I'm convinced that that was the best performance I have ever seen, and quite possibly ever will see.

Emcee, that's awesome about Raul in TNH. I'm sure it was amazing to be able to see that.
The picture, skittles... you probably don't want to see it. A scary-looking guy who happens to share Raul's name.

I'll never forget it.
When skittles and Alix and I were talking to Raul at Symphony Space, skittles had said something about Chitty, and Raul went "that's not the first thing you saw me in, is it?" Later, she mentioned The Normal Heart, and I said "THAT was the first thing I saw you in." He looked up and went "hah, a little different from Chitty!" I just laughed and nodded, but I wanted so badly to say something more.

I hated saying that, but I felt awkward telling him to his face that I'd seen his shows in others ways. Even though he has them himself, it was just weird. I felt like the Equity people would jump down from the rafters and take me away or something!
Em, I wish you'd said more too, it would have made for a much more interesting conversation than me babbling about...whatever poured out of my mouth, I don't know, my mouth was totally detatched from my brain at that point.

He seems to be a proponent of bootlegs, but I can imagine it'd be awkward to be like "yeah, I saw it totally illegally and didn't support you WHATSOEVER."
That night was the closest I've come to really just TALKING to him. It was really chill, which I can't say I've ever done with him. He was really attentive that night, too, which you don't always get. Even if he's almost always nice, he's not always all there, which is understandable. But he seemed to relaxed and okay with us, and that was really special.
