MAN AGAINST THE MACHINE IN 'CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG' The talented Raúl Esparza, who specializes in bright eccentricity, decides to play the inventor hero of this soulless extravaganza as a real person, replete with idiosyncratic line readings and heartfelt renderings of songs. It is a valiant, poignant battle, as no one appears to have told Mr. Esparza that the show's real star is a flying car and that any attempts to upstage it are doomed.
