BTW, Miss C, you are very observant. I agree the video may be from the preview and the same one we've seen on that other site. I think I recognize that head in front. I hope Act 2 gets fixed.

It's funny, SO many more stage actors(especially musical theatre actors) smoke than I ever thought did. I randomly pass people on the street, usually outside of theatres and think "how do they sing like they do??", although i've heard people claim it actually increases their range. It wreaks havoc on my voice, so I'm really trying to stay away, but socially it's really tough sometimes.

But anyway - on a quick gushy note, there's something about the idea of Raul smoking that's totally hot.

I'm sad to say that I don't think he's quit yet. When asked last week if he interrupted his nap to come out to sign, he said no and that he was slow to come out because he was having a cigarette.

I hope he quits soon though. I don't want him to end up with a smoker's voice --that would be a waste.

I quit just over a year ago, and I totally see now how nasty it is, but I will admit I still find it sexy in a way. I don't understand why, but I do. But then the guy will come near me, I'll smell it, and walk away, lol.

I, too, don't understand how they all smoke. And the strange thing is that a lot of them didn't start out smoking, they picked it up more recently. Weird. But it's their lives.

I feel like a bad person for thinking it's attractive. Or, rather, I AM a bad person.

Maybe he got stressed out and started again. =P

I'm certainly not one to be like "BAD. STOP SMOKING NOW!" because... who am I to make that claim? These actors are big boys and girls and can make their own choices, but I have to say that I'm always kind of boggled as to how they can sing as well as they do!

Yeah, it's definitely sexy...until they come within breathing distance...then it's just kinda gross. Anytime I smoke, I'm like compulsive gum chewer/listerine user!

I'm sure a lot of it is stress related, too. Plus, it's the perfect break. I work in a corporate office, and there's no better 5 minutes to yourself than going outside for a cigarette.

I agree, Emcee. I hate when people complain and make judgments about actors and singers smoking. Who are you to make it your business? Fans act like it's their business because they enjoy the voices, but the actors know better than anyone that their voice is their meal ticket and are going to notice if anything is causing harm to it. And honestly, would you like it if an actor saw a heavyweight fan at the stagedoor and talked to all the other actors about how unhealthy and disgusting it is?

Besides, Raul has much worse habits and problems than smoking. Nicotine is the least of his worries.

When I won lotto for Broadway Night Bee, there was a young teen girl in front of me with her dad. They were telling other people in the row about her working with Raul in Chitty and how great he was, blah blah. I meant to inquire further, but for once I didn't feel like being obtrusive.

Emma Wahl. She was there with her dad -- she was one of the kids in the OBC. She was with the show for a good portion of the run, and understudied Jemima. There are some really cute pics at her website, emmawahl.com.
