I wonder what he's gonna sing...

yay! I finally just watched that whole ATW seminar with Raul and DHP. That story about the Chitty curtain call was hilarious - when he said that everyone in the audience looked so bummed even though there was confetti and everything, so he gave them all that dirty look during his bow.
"WELL YOU WEREN'T VERY GOOD EITHER!"
Hah, the confetti. I remember finding that stuff in my purse for days after seeing the show.

That's such a Raul thing to say. He is so aware of his audiences; like when he watched that whole group of people come in late during Company - he followed them all the way to their seats, which were in like the 6th row. I was like 'that sucks'
Actually, Adam did that on Monday night. This whole group came in late during Seasons of Love, and of course they were sitting right in the middle of the row in center orchestra. So when they came in, EVERYONE in the row had to get up and let them through...
Well, he's really responsive to audiences, which is a great thing... but it can be dangerous when an actor is sort of reliant on that love. I guess I can understand being kind of spiteful if people look bored and all that, but when relying on being fed affection impacts the quality of the performance, it's a bad thing. I saw a few performances of Chitty where he seemed to get kind of discouraged and then just... give up trying. When dependency on the audience gets to that point, it's not good.
how could you be late for a performance for either of them??? i tend to show up early for local performances. i have gotten to performances so early that they wouldn't let me in the theatre. i had to stand around and wait in the lobby.
i'd prolly be there an hour early for raul or adam.

Well, in both cases, the people were late after intermission, not to the start of the show.
During Rent, they started Seasons of Love even though it was clear everyone wasn't in their seats. Since the curtain went up late (there is no curtain, but you know what I mean) I think they wanted to just get the ball rolling. For Company, Raul was standing at the edge of the stage and just like blatantly watched them all until they got to their seats. It was actually funny.
It's intimidating to know that he's that aware of audiences all the time. Most actors say that they can tell what kind of night it will be by the audience's reaction right away. But by the same token, the audience paid money to see the performance, and there should be a certain standard to fulfill even if it's a theater full of duds
I've mentioned it before that i always get so squirmy and uncomfortable when an actor looks me straight in the eye. I kinda of passed it off for a while, saying even though they are looking, they aren't really looking, they probably don't even know what my face looks like type a deal. But then I was talking to an actor who explain how wrong i was, and then I got all fidgety again when it happens.
When I swear Adam looked at me the firs time at his solo show, I almost knocked my beer over. It was funny. And I don't normally EVER get nervous with that stuff.
Raul looked at me during Broadway Bee, but he was pretty much standing on top of us, so it couldn't be avoided. He was just so nervous up there for some reason.

When I sat at the tip of the diamond at Company, Raul looked at me right after the whole Barcelona sex scene, I was like ahh!
Barbara Walsh sang almost her entire Ladies to us that night too - talk about intimidating! I didn't want to look away, but she really held the gaze, it was intense!
Heh, I remember being in the front row at Company one night with a friend of mine, and after that line where Raul would always kind of smirk down at the people in the front row, we laughed a little bit too loudly. He heard our laughter as he was walking up stage, so he turned, looked at us, and laughed back. It was funny. Since rush was usually front row, there was so much (often awkward) really intense eye contact going on with Company.

That's so funny. I like how at Adam's BB Kings show, he was like "this is not an interactive show" - I couldn't see Raul ever saying that, hehe.
It was funny during that performance, because their pre-Barcelona scene was particularly intense. They were laughing and giggling throughout the whole thing, but they were very much ... into it; like I'd never seen before. So it made it that much more intense - obsessedjb and I were like "!!!"
I always have to watch myself because I tend to laugh very loudly
Well, he said that and then continued to make it one.
Heh, Poor Baby. My mind was usually like, "Good LORD, Raul."

My nightmares? I don't know. I could look.
It says BC/EFA Flea Market, so I suppose that is correct.
Please tell me my inclination that you photoshopped it is correct.

No, he was photographed with weird half-marionette streamers, a pure grey background, and inane text floating by his knees IRL. It was awesome. Which is to say, yes. It's is photoshopped. No, the actual picture of him was not, that's all him.
Sry, you guyz. I haven't slept and I'm taking it out on Raul.

It is considerable. He was clearly proud enough to show it off, too.
My mom has a scrolling screensaver that says "Raul is Cool". Seriously. I'm never ever taking my mom to a Broadway show ever again.
Well, the pose. If not photoshopped... what in hell is he DOING? lol.
he and Adam have too many similar like pictures. Adam has one like that too from the Today show appearance or something.
Raul looks like is trying to re live his Cabaret days.

Disturbing me.
There. More wholesome.

i think those eyebrows have their own identities, names, and social security numbers.

That is disturbing if only for the fact that Raul literally transforms into the Emcee. I don't know where he goes, but something happens like I've never seen before.

Love the brows. They're brushed up in the style that I arbitrarily refer to as "Russian eyebrows". That's how I wear them when I want to look like an unpolished sort of dastardly.
