I've seen other pictures from the same event, I think -- that looks like it was taken at Joe's Pub, and if I'm right, it was in 2004. I want to say he did a guest appearance at one of Euan Morton's gigs, or something.
I'm also very lucky in that I've got a Samuel French bookstore very close to where I live. I spend too much time and far too much money there.
Amazon says the DVD of Dori Berinstein's documentary, "Showbusiness: The Road to Broadway" will be released on October 16.

ooo, more good news. Thanks!
Ohmygosh, YAY! I need to see that movie.
I do, too. I never had a chance to see the documentary because it was in MN the week I was in New York. Naturally, the real Raul was preferable

Smiling through the cold shiver of fear going down his spine. Admirable.

Wow, that is a crazy picture of Raul and Norbert. It makes Norbs look a little creepy! haha.
Do you where that picture was taken? I was just curious.
Is that Norbert Leo Butz? Yikes. Not exactly the guy I want whispering sweet nothings in my ear. Especially while wearing my grandfather's sport coat.

Oh, Norbster. I sense that Raul is not into it. As for the jacket, even my tweed fetish isn't enough to make me want that looming over my shoulder.
I believe it was at the Miscast benefit? I'm not sure.
If Raúl's jaw were clenched any tighter he'd break a tooth. I know my stomach is in knots just looking at it.
I'm not sure I want to know what was just whispered to him. It almost looks like a scene from a bad mystery movie.
Yeah, I think that's from Miscast. But... wow, Norbert looks like a creepy hobo. And Raul looks scared. "Why is he about to lick my ear?!"
Raúl's official website has been updated.
Haha!! The best part is that it looks like Norbert's actually nibbling his ear.
To me it just screams out Norby whispering "I'll get you my pretty"
I'm not sure where the pic is. I'll try to find it, but it seems to be the one taken right after that one with Norbert and Raúl has his head thrown back in laughter.
ETA: Okay, here's the pic
Laughter or nervous laughter? Raúl does NOT look....comfortable.

Norbert reminds me of Slugworth from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory whispering to Raul in that first pic
Norbert's looming in that second picture, too. I hope that look was only a phase for him.
Looming seems to be a theme, no?
opiv -- Did you get your tix to Help Is On The Way, the benefit in SF? I got my tix for the performance only, Rear Orchestra Left, Row T...better bring my binoculars!
I also noticed that there's a post-performance party with the cast for those folks who bought the really expensive tix. If the party is in the same venue as the show, I think we can forget about getting to see Raul at the stage door (unless you want to wait hours).
Yeah I got the tickets. I know they're the performance only ones, but my friends dad ordered them so I don't know exactly where we are.
And boo about the post-show party. I guess the chance of meeting him is going to be slim.

Have fun though. It should be great even if you can't meet him after. That sucks - don't they understand that fans are waiting? Why must they party?
Amusing little blurb in a local LA paper yesterday:
"Ian McShane didn't make the Thursday night preview of "Hot Rod", but his presence was felt, especially by Andy Samberg, the "Saturday Night Live" veteran and star of the comedy flick. McShane plays Samberg's stepfather, a guy who loves to mix it up with the kid, with the intention of making him into a man.
"He kicked my ass pretty good, I had to have a physical therapist come around and pop my back around a few times one day," Samberg ruefully remembers. "He was smacking me around!"

Gee - do you suppose McShane was practicing getting into character for The Homecoming?
Eek!
