To great talent...

I really hope I have a chance to see this. I found the Sweeney Todd revival recording to be more intense, emotional and powerful than other productions I've listened to, and I'm generally interested in new developments in theatre, so I'd love to see a John Doyle production. I'm familiar with some of the music from Company and find it, like most of Sondheim's work, brilliant. And the leading man, Mr. Esparza...*sigh.* And not just because of his swoon-inducing appearance, or even his insane vocal prowess. I've said before that most of my exposure to him (heck, to most B'way actors) has been through cast recordings, and, even on those, he creates such powerful characterizations and can convincingly play so many different characters - e.g. there are so many differences between his performances on, say, the tick..tick...BOOM, Rocky Horror, and Taboo recordings.

I'm sure that I've just been repeating myself, I'm sorry about that. Yeah, a chance to actually see this production, to have a real experience with it, would be wonderful.

Hmmm...it opens shortly before my birthday. Well, about a week before. Maybe I should tell my parents to forget presents this year, and take (or send) me to New York!

Hey guys...

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but I looked up Raul on The Forbidden Video Site yesterday, and there's so much new stuff up... but you have to search under both 'Raul Esparza' and 'Raúl Esparza' seperately...

Anyways, back to legal message board topics.

As some of you know, I'm moving to New York in sixteen days! I was wondering if there was a fangirly Company meetup planned?

If there's not, can there be?

I want people to fangirl with, and to discuss the show with (I mean, OTHER than college girls who just want to see Wicked...).

Well, whatever happens, happens.

Yay Company!

Today at the flea market I started looking through a stack of back issues of Show People magazines. I purchased two. The one with Raul's tummy picture in it, and the one with Raul's chest hair. YAY! Just had to share that.

Very cool, Chrys!

My friend called to tell me about what they'd gotten me (To great talent...), and one of the first things she said was, "It has Raúl's name on it!" That made me laugh at myself a little, but is nonetheless totally awesome. To great talent...

Sadly, I do not have a scanner.

AAAAAND, I was just now looking at the old picture. I know it's been talked about before, but I don't think we were ever really sure. But I can promise you that his belly button is pierced in that picture! There is a little bar. %$&#*$&%^!

Next time I see you, bring that magazine with you. I will love your forever. I'll believe it when I see it; straight men don't pierce their bellybuttons.

Hey guys, I just wanted to join in the Raul-lovin' since I just got my tickets for Company! This is so exciting!
#3513

To great talent...

That is hilarious, Chrys! I remember someone else who had the magazine saying the same thing, so I definitely believe it. I wonder if it was a phase, or what? Definitely makes our debate on the subject and Mandi's photoshopping ironic!

I am so excited now that I'll be able to see Company in late November (thank you to my hosts!).

There's a big (but not full-page) Company ad in the Times. It's pretty much the same as the other one, but now it advertises that the box office opens Monday.

Good old NY Times. Hey, anyone know if there is any word on a Company cast recording? My addiction to Raul's voice needs another *legal* recording to listen to To great talent....

And, at the bottom of the Company site it says that there's a new recording coming soon from Nonesuch. (Same as Sweeney?)
