Wow, I am on beatiful Broadway men overload: Yay Company!!
Companyyy. Now that I've come to New York and seen Sweeney Todd (and Rent and Spelling Bee, all of which were amazing and I'm so happy to have seen), I'm glad that I still have something to look forward to later this month. That's what's going to be getting me through the semester!

Poor Raul. He's so neglected. *pet*
Ohh... I have an idea! Why don't we play a game?
*pets...the thread*
Raul is too good for a game in his thread.
angelic1 is seeing Company early next week, and a bunch of other people will see it soon after that, so it's all good. His thread doesn't HAVE to be on top of the boards if there's nothing to talk about.
I know, but it makes me sad.
I know, I just don't want to have to resort to
Chitty -
The Normal Heart +
crap in this thread.
We could talk about Raul's.....
hmmmmmm.
Nevermind.

So, my friend and I were listening to Raul (as usual), and 'Sunday' was on, and she randomly said: "Oh my God he's singing about cholesterol and it's turning me on". Anti-Acid The Musical anyone? I'll bet you $20.00 Raul would make it work, lol.
That lyric has always amused me, because while it's rather random, so is "...and parasols!" in Sondheim's "Sunday."

Yeah, I'm bumping the thread to post this, because I like the hair.
aw, I love his hair.
My mother announced today that she thinks Company is going to suck.

LOL, because your mother is clearly well-informed about the show?
Yup. She knows all.
Is she basing that on how she felt about the Sweeney revival, or is she just saying that to piss you off?
Probably a little bit of both.
She was all hyped up to see Raul when we saw Chitty together, because of how I go on about him, and was just totally underwhelmed, understandably. Even though I tell her this is going to be different -- a performance force to be reckoned with -- I don't think she believes me.
She also still thinks the concept is funny, but now that we've talked about it, she at least appreciates it a little more, even if she doesn't particularly like it, if that makes sense.
I think she's probably also like "I bet regional theatre in Ohio sucks."
But this is a good regional theatre! And Raul!
.... she's not too excited. And I'm absolutely bursting at the seams.
I love that picture! I like his hair with longish bangs.
If Sweeney Todd is any indication, Company is going to be amazing. I was so skeptical before seeing Sweeney, but with Company being a concept musical anyway even if it's more grounded in reality than Sweeney, I think Doyle's style will work fine.
Also, it's maybe a little silly... but I hope that Raul enjoys doing it as much as the Sweeney cast have seemed to like being in that show. He's wanted to do a Broadway-caliber Sondheim show for so long (not counting the Kennedy Center shows), so I hope it's fun to be in.

hee. My mom used to say he looks like a Beatle with his hair that way. It's so cute.
I think she'll like Company, even if the concept isn't up her alley. The show seems like something she would like, as does the music.
I think that my aunt and uncle will like it. I don't know whether they're Sondheim fans, but I think the crazy married people thing will sit well with them. I love Company for its slightly wicked, cynical sense of humor.
Em, I'm sure that there are many people who would be willing to take your mother's ticket if she really doesn't want to go.
