Grrrr...am sad I had to cancel plans to go see this, though happy about my new job. It all balances out. At least I tell myself that to make me feel better.

I don't really know why he's never done Sondheim in New York, but he loves "Steve's" work so much, that I think he probably just wanted the opportunity to do a great piece with a new vision by a brilliant director.
It's a fairly big regional theatre, anyway, name-wise, I guess. It won the regional Tony a couple years back.
Well, I certainly respect him for having so much devotion to his craft that he'll take a lower profile job, comparatively speaking, in order to ensure that he's breaking new ground.
