Right. Like, now that it's transferring I do admit feeling some mild stupidity for wanting to fly 500 miles to see it, BUT I am very grateful for having seen it in its original form.
Shiksa, I'm not trying to convince you that I'm "right" or whatever. I'm just sayin'. I just think spatial consideration is really, really important.
*old broad pops in*
LuvtheEmcee, I am going to see the show on Wednesday. When I saw the news today, I thought maybe I'd skip it and wait for NY - although NY is four hours away, so it would still be a major trip for me. Then I figured that it will be great to compare the two.
I'm driving and stopping to see a friend in Columbus. I've never stage-doored so I highly doubt I will do so this time, but am just so looking forward to the performance. I used to play the album endlessly many moons ago.. The printed raves and the BBW discussion convinced me this was trip worth taking. Besides I need a escape from work for awhile. Really enjoyed what you had to say about it.
Big Holla to Orangeskittles!
I'm excited. I'm praying for a cast recording and *possibly* a Tony. I think that it will probably lose something in NY, but I know that it will still be amazing.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
....
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Deep breaths, Elphie!
It IS really exciting, though.
*patpat*
Harpo, yes, see it in its original form.
What a lovely way to end a perfectly awful day.

I am so tired and busy. But I had to drop in and say Yipee!
Wut up, Harpo?!
Yay! I'm a bit Adam-focused currently post-concert, but YAY! I hear about the Company transfer and meet Adam within 15 minutes! It's been a day that started out crappy and ended spectacularly.

You know what? Raul has taken over my soul. I am meeting Anthony again on Saturday and seeing Adam for the first time live (and hopefully meeting him) on Sunday, and yet.... I am in a world of COMPANY and RAUL and just... listening to my Raul playlist, lol. What has he done to me?
That might just change when you see Adam up close.....
Hence my way of going through "phases."

Hehe, well, I know I will be very excited the day of... but I still am in a world of OMG I met Raul Esparza! I just went and saw How To Succeed and the entire time I was imagining Raul as Frump falling on his butt.
Oh, this is such tres good news!!!

Does anyone else find it cruel cruel cruel that the Company transfer was announced without the cast? Yes, I realize it would not make sense to do it any other way, but now I'm going to be waiting in agony for the confirmation. I can't imagine why Raul wouldn't go, but until it's absolutely official, I'm going to go nuts.

Not to sound overly dramatic, but I think I'd cry if Raul didn't go with them. That said, honestly, is there any good reason for him NOT to go? I can't imagine he's bored with the part yet.
First of all, it's frustrating, but it makes sense. These people are GOOD, but not irreplaceable. You make a decision to do the production, then you work on getting people to be in it.
Second, the newer press indicates that most of the cast (INCLUDING Raul) will very likely be staying with the show. It sounds like they have him.
I'm assuming part of this is at least a little contingent upon keeping him, since he's a huge part of why they got rave reviews. Plus, if he's really loving the show and working with Doyle as much as he says (not that I haven't heard him lie), I'd imagine he would say yes when asked.

I don't have anything new to say, just that this is very exciting!

That's good to hear. I can't wait to go see this, not to mention be in NYC again. I need to save money...
That's like.... word for word what I was going to say, Em. They'd be morons not to pursue him, and he's so forthcoming about how much he loves working on that production. Not to mention that it would be kind of a stupid career move to for some reason turn it down. At this point he's a big enough Broadway name (and well-reviewed enough in this part) that I don't think they'd even be talking about transferring to Broadway without knowing that he's attached. Then agaaaiin, I don't really have any basis for this, but I really doubt that we need to worry.
Anyway, do we know anything about the other film that's mentioned in his updated bio, A Clean, Well-Lighted Place? I'm assuming the title is inspired by the Hemingway vingette of the same name, but there's nothing about it online yet. Sounds intriguing, though.
There's no real need for me to echo what you guys said, but I will anyway. They'd be insane not to ask him to do this. He's clearly having a good time working in this show, so there's no way that he'd turn it down.
I'm intrigued by that as well, Ashley.

I read that and was confused, is that something new that's not yet happend? Or is it old?
I assume something that hasn't happened yet? There was a movie called that in 2002, but only two cast members are listed for it on IMDB (neither of whom, obviously, is Raul). Or maybe that was it and it was just very independent? Updated On: 4/7/06 at 07:26 PM
Yeah, I did the same thing when I read about the film in his new bio -- so, I haven't the foggiest.
Thing is, you're looking at an actor who has hardly ever seen a bad review in New York. And on national tour. I dunno about what he did in Chicago, so I won't say anything quite THAT over-arching, but you get my point. He is THE critical darling. The producers will surely want him, and I'd think he'd want to do a Sondheim show in NYC by now. Even if he's not a *huge* star, here, his name means something -- especially for the people who are gonna be this show's main audience.

I would be very surprised if he didn't stay. It doesn't stop me from worrying though, just because I want to see it be official. I really am so very excited about this though. It's great news I think.
