I listened to My Strongest Suit a few minutes ago and realized WHY I LOVE HER! Listen to that one song, and Im 100% sure youll fall in love with her too even if you havent heard her sing very much. This one song will make anyone fall in love with her voice.

you should get her solo album, "men i've had". it was one of the first released on the sh-k-boom label (along with adam's "model prisoner"). the idea behind the album is to do songs by the composers of the shows she's been in, so you have randy newman (she was in "faust"), pete townsend (she was in "tommy"), elton john ("aida," of course), jon larson ("rent" second maureen replacement i think, she sings a song called "love heals" that i haven't heard before). those are all the composers i can remember off the top of my head, but anyway, it's a fun album, and sherie is truly a brilliant performer. i can't wait to see her in drs on may 10...

Sherie's solo cd is very good. I love Emotional Girl and her interpretation of Jonathan Larson's Love Heals is absolutely wonderful. You can hear it and some other songs (including Small Town Girl from Debbie Does Dallas--love that song!) on the Sh-K Boom Web site. Follow the Sh-K Boom Box link at the top. :)

Sh-K Boom is another reason I think Sherie is so cool.

sherie in DRS is absolutely incredible. i was really down on musical theatre when i went to see it, and she totally re-inspired my passion for it :).

then end of "here i am" is worth the price of admission itself. her high notes are incredible.

if you've seen DRS, you knwo what i mean. if you're going to see it, you'll know when it happens!! :)

I hear she was great in RENT as well. Its ironic that she was a replacement for the part Idina originated and Idina was a replacement for the part Sherie originated in Aida.

Not to mention that some fans suggested Sherie would make a great Elphaba! (Although I see her more as a Glinda...)

I think Sherie would have an interesting take on Elphaba I could actually see her giving the character the darker vibe it needs. Her voice is spectacular because she can hit all the notes but it still has that character, I love a voice thats more than just technique.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

WICKEDrocks - is that Sherie in your avatar? She looks so much thinner than when I saw her in Randy Newman's FAUST - and in particular, two of her most noticable attributes look as if they've been surgically reduced.

Jon, funny you should mention that, because I was thinking the same thing. However, I think after you have kids your attributes tend to shrink a little. (or at least this is what my mother tells me, who can trust them?)

Maybe she just lost some weight?

I think your mother is right.
It other costumes in the show though her attributes are shown to still be quite, ummm, spectacular.
I adore her voice, adm love how she works the little ticks into her character that give it dimension throughout the show.

I love this thread. I think she's amazing. She breaks my heart every time I hear her sing "I know the truth" from Aida.

I'm going to see her in DRS next month and I can't wait.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

I remember seeing her in Tommy, and back then she was just alright, being that her part wasn't huge and all, although her name was easily recognizeble [sic]. Even though i saw her name in shows, she didn't appeal to me, until I heard the Last 5 Years. How someone can start off a show so deeply emotional, and then go backwards through emotion impressed me greatly. And her voice was absolutely beautiful.
Her Debbie Does Dallas is hysterical, as were her co-stars, and her solo album is quite pleasant.
When I finally saw her in DRS, I found her to be as great as she was on recordings.
I still would love to see her play Elphaba, especially how she could bring her kindness to the role, and sing the sh*t out of Defying Gravity.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

*bump*

Sherie's such a classy lady, she deserves to be on the first page. :)

I'm listening to the DRS cd right now. Yet again, she does a wonderful job of re-creating her onstage performance. I can't wait for the other, official OBCR to be released. I think it's supposed to have Sherie doing another version of "Nothing is Too Wonderful to Be True." Yay, I love that song!

I saw the DRS again today! I Love Sherie so much, her thread needs to keep up, I know there aren't a lot of guys who care in the same way some of the men and women care about Adam or Norbert but we need to show Sherie some Luvve!
She was sick today, coughing and runny nosed, but still fantastic!

Anyone here see her in Marci X???? She's Hysterical! She needs to do more film work, as she comes across very lovely on screen.

What's your fave Sherie Song?
Mine is "Small Town Girl" from DDD.
(Also "The Record Store" is a hysterical dialogue between her and her co-stars.)

Talented, nice, and gorgeous. What more could you ask for?

My favorite Sherie song is probably "I Can Do Better Than That" or "A Summer in Ohio".

That would be my second choice...
and then "A Part of That"
and then "See, I'm Smiling"
and then "Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters"

It's on her solo album "Men I've Had..." She does it with Adam Pascal singing the harmonies. You can order it on Amazon.com for a really good price. That's where I got mine.

Wow I tend not to even think about buying the solo records, but I adore that song, and everything I've seen Sherie do, so I might have to bite that bullet.
