"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Cal State Northridge
Theatre Major
I am more interested in technical/production/management (I'm a Stage Manager) but this school only has a general theatre degree which is still good for me. It makes me do a lil bit of everything.

Love it here. I'm first year and have had one small performance opportunity and a big sound/technical job so far. I'm torn between my love of sound design/tech and performing, but who says you can't have both?....... Updated On: 3/27/05 at 01:29 AM

you guys are all so lucky.

i hate to pull a little mini-jack here...but do you think it's possible that a factor of my rejection from schools is that i'm so young? (i'm 16...and will be 16 entering college next year)just b/c a lot of you guys ARE theatre majors and would know what goes on in the programs...just a thought!

I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)
