AHHH. It was an amazing episode tonight! I was caught completely off guard by who had to do with the rapes. How eerie was the entire portion of the show from when she went to Carrie's room to when she was in the closet and all that hair was falling down on her. I was gasping and OMGing for half the episode.

I loved that Veronica's "perfect murder paper" was the murder of Lamb!

I LOVED the end of the episode with Logan and his baseball bat. The Obligatory Psychotic Jackass has returned!

I was really satisfied with the resolution of the rape mystery and I really enjoyed the fact that Parker was the one to save Veronica in the end.

And I have one more thing to say: MAC!!!!

GREAT episode!

SPOILERS.

I loved this episode. I'm impressed that they tied in the prisoner/guard experiment with the rape mystery -- and that was pretty well-foreshadowed throughout the season with the Ryder Strong character/Horshack mentions.

Oh, Logan. I don't know if words can describe how I love you. I'm so happy to see badass Logan back. The police car stunt was awesome. And, as much as I love Logan and Veronica together, I was practically cheering when he broke up with her.

I'll miss the Dean, though I'm sort of excited at the prospect of seeing more Wallace/Weevil/Mac. If you think about it, everything with Dean O'Dell took up a lot of screen time. It's sad that he never got to open the bottle of scotch he was saving. I hope they utilize the "perfect murder" papers in the next arc.

Love Love Love Love Love!!!

I've watched this episode twice so far and I've cried both times. THIS is the Veronica Mars I have been missing!

~*~SPOILER ALERT~*~

* Totally guessed Moe and that there were 2 people, but I had discounted Mercer as too obvious. Although Couch Baron was making me change my mind after the recap that went up today...
* Pegged Dean O'Dell as the victim as soon as the episode started. I'll miss the guy--I've always loved Ed Begley, Jr. in the Christopher Guest movies.
* It broke my heart to see Logan and Veronica break up, but I loved how they did it. Logan's reasons were perfect and I LOVED the shot of Veronica breaking down in the shower. She hasn't showed emotion like that in a very long time.
* That said, V better not hook up with Piz any time soon.
* I miss Mac and Weevil. The show just isn't the same without them!
* The ending with Logan was perfection. I pity Mercer...he is about to get the beating of his life.

GAH! I just loved it!!! How long until the second block starts? *sigh*

What do you make of the scene in the cafeteria? Let's face it- Mac, Wallace, and yes, Logan, have been through Veronica's high school trials with her. They have a bond with her that Piz, cute though he may be, couldn't form after just a few months of knowing her. So would she want to date him because he'd be baggage-free? Or would they never last because he's too light and fluffy?

That said, his dork dance at the party was awesome. :P

I loved this episode. So. Much. I want to hug it. It was emotional and well-crafted and scary and the mystery made sense. I wish they hadn't killed the Dean, though. I wonder what the third mystery arc will be, to top it?

However, the Dean-killing brings in all the characters who were close to him- Veronica, Keith, and awesomely, Weevil. Landry, the wife, Tim, and the Lilliths will all be suspects. This is a great, tightly-woven mystery so far. Nicely done, writers. Nicely done.

I wish my mom hadn't deleted it off of our DVR so that I could watch it again!

The one bright spot--I can finally get caught up with House again! I haven't watched an episode since it came back from hiatus after baseball. It'll be nice to get caught up again.

I think tonight I'll watch "An Echolls Family Christmas"--it always gets me in the holdiay spirit re: VERONICA MARS SEASON 3: BEGINS TONIGHT!

The best episode of the season!

This is classic VERONICA MARS at its best. With a season that has been lackluster at best, this episode put our favorite Marshmallow back on track.

SPOILERS:

Mercer being the rapist at first was obvious then he fell off the radar and smacked us all in the head with his guilt

Tim flipping out at Brooke with being with Dick- classic. I love how they have created a foil in Tim to Veronica.

Piz, his dork dance was fantastic. Is love in the air for him and Veronica, I'd like to see it happen maybe, but not yet.

Parker saving Veronica was perfect. It was a classy touch.

The scenes where Veronica was drugged were amazing. The camera work was fantastic. Very eerie.

MAC is BACK. Period. the end.

Dean dying, saw it coming, but I thought he shot the Professor and his wife- Did he?

Logan breaking up with Veronica. Sad, but had to happen. I mean really who finds their true love in high school, and don't say Macualy Caulkin.--- {GET OVER IT reference}

Logan smashing the car to go to jail to kick Mercer's ass was amazing. You can take the boy out of Neptune High, but you can't take Neptune High out of the boy.

Overall, an amazing episode. Let's hope this episode has set up for the return of it in Janurary.

Personally, I liked the fact that Veronica changed her hair after the break-up with Logan. She's been wearing it wavy all season with what I like to call "the poof" in front. Now that Logan has ended their relationship, it's straight with very blunt bangs. Is this meant to be reminiscent of how pre-season 1 Veronica chopped off her long hair after her rape?

As the forum posters on TWoP have been pointing out, I love the return of OPJ Logan as evidenced in his breaking the windows on the police car. Logan HAS been a bit emo this season...hopefully this will help him get his edge back. Plus the fact that he managed to find a pair and call Veronica on her crap. The LoVe pairing works much better when they both have some zest; puppy dog Logan just wasn't cutting it for me (and I suspect it wasn't working for Veronica either).

Plum--I LOVE the idea of the perfect murder papers coming into play! It does strike me as slightly irresponsible for the teacher to post shining examples of how to kill someone and get away with it on the class website. Then again, we all know that Professor Landry doesn't have the best moral code. Maybe he was high at the time. Either way, he sure is pretty.

Gah! I can't wait for January!

sweetest--that's just about my favorite Logan line of all time! Plus I love how Veronica sums him up during the big reveal. "Looks like an evil-doer, smells like an evil-doer, but surprisingly...not so much."

Clumsy--maybe we should change the thread title? Seeing as we're already done with the first mystery and all re: VERONICA MARS SEASON 3: BEGINS TONIGHT!

Thanks! Is it wrong that I briefly considered putting up Logan in the Pi Sig scene as a juxtaposition for yours? re: VERONICA MARS SEASON 3: BEGINS TONIGHT!

I finally decided that Veronica breaking down in the shower was my favorite scene of the night. It did a LOT in helping me reconnect with the character. She's been on my very last nerve the past few episodes!

*smiles* I could spend all day discussing VM! Too bad the TWoP forums are so dang long...I'd never get caught up enough to start posting my opinions. And my mom doesn't really go in for analyzation--she loves the show, but it's just a tv show to her. Hah! JUST a tv show! As if.

ETA--Plum, OPJ = Obligatory Psychotic Jackass.

Did you hear?! Veronica Mars got 3.5 million viewers last night!! Source: http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20061129cw01#Scene_1

I know that the CW only ordered 20, not the usual 22 episodes, but if the show keeps averaging this many viewers perhaps it might get a fourth season!

I love the big mysteries when they're done well, and they have been in 2 of 3 attempts. But RT does have one good point- there's only so many times you can slaughter someone Veronica cares about. Maybe they can compromise on "biggish" mysteries? 2-3 episodes long, not too complicated but still fun?

Obviously, we're never going to have a Season 1 again. Veronica Mars started out as a YA novel, and S1 was, broadly, the plot. All the main characters tied into the mystery, which also cut right into the main character's deepest concerns. But even if we can't repeat those circumstances, I'd hate to lose big arcs altogether, because without them we lose the ability to have episodes that pack a punch like "Spit and Eggs".

There'll never be another mystery for this show like season 1. I still enjoyed season 2, but the mysteries got so impossibly convoluted and had so many red herrings that it got sort of tiresome after a while -- plus, it's sort of an impossibility for Veronica to be as invested in any crime as she was in Lilly's murder. I think, though, that based on the first arc of this season, threeish mysteries per season is a pretty good format. I'd be really, really disappointed if the overarching mystery concept was replaced, because the Mysteries of the Week kind of bore me a lot of the times... and are only really worth it in retrospect, when you realize how brilliantly those little mysteries build into one another or contain clues for the big mystery. I NEED continuity to be invested in a show. That's why I don't watch shows like CSI: I find them interesting, but there's nothing there to keep me coming back each week. And without the larger mystery, it strikes me that that continuity will have to be achieved all on the relationship level, which doesn't seem fitting for this show.

What Veronica Mars has that CSI doesn't is depth to it's characters and very strong acting choices. Plus, the dialogue is always very witty.

If VM does go more of the procedural route, I see it becoming more like House than CSI. I still hope that DOESN'T happen, because it makes the insertion of arcs all the more absurd. Some of the worst House episodes for me have been the Vogler arc, the Stacy arc, and the current Tritter arc. It's not that I don't get tired of House always almost killing the patient just to miraculously save them in the last 10 mintes--I do. It's just that the writers are so used to that sort of a focus that trying to tie the episodes together usually doesn't work very well. What sets House apart from all the other procedurals is that it has truly interesting characters that are actually on a progressive arc. Season 1 Cameron is VERY different from season 2 Cameron (thank God).

I'm not concerned about that with VM. Even in the first season, there were episodes that focused much more on the MotW than on Lilly's murder. If they keep up this style, it runs the risk of turning into Buffy--you can only save the world so many times before it stops being this big, special thing.

I don't care either way. I'll watch this show until its cancellation--which is hopefully years down the line.
