Yeah, but you need to factor in House. When it returns after baseball season, all bets are off.

The show's formula is changing- the "mystery of the week" was barely distinguishable from the larger one, and Keith, Wallace, and Logan were all off doing their own self-supported storylines. I kinda like it, and I'm sure poor overworked Kristen Bell feels the same way.
It was nice to have the knowledge that I would know what was going on without having to wait a full 22 episodes for a resolution.
As much as I loved the long arcs, I am very enthusiastic about this new set up. I always felt that "Buffy" was at it's best with the monster of the week could stand alone as well as work in a bigger frame.
My one complaint--as great as the main line was, I did feel that poor Keith, Wallace, and Logan got a bit overlooked. And dammit, I missed Piz. If I miss the kid after one episode, things aren't looking good for my beloved LoVe.

Eugh, I hate those cutesified 'ship names. You really think Wallace and Logan got gipped? Maybe Logan did, by his standards- his storylines tend to involve a lot more histrionics than what he got tonight. But Wallace has come a long, long way from the days when he basically handed Veronica folders full of attendance records.
Anyway, I think their wary sort-of friendship is wonderful. Can't get enough of it. So I was in no way dissatisfied with their story this time. If anything, it's Mac who only got a bare-bones story, and Dick was barely a presence. Can't have everyone in every episode, though. And the ensemble squeeze will be even tighter when Weevil comes back- I can't wait.

I really liked the 2nd episode last night.
I loved how Parker stood up to her parents.
Veronica at a sorioty was great.
"The sudo Lesbian dance" was FANTASTIC.
I heart VM.
K Bell is the s**t. LOVE this show. My BF is pissed at me because I told him that I'm giving up House to watch V mars. Whatever he'll just have to deal! Great ep. on tus. I liked the jerk guy from boy meets world!
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu
I hope that the "feminists" get a bit more rounded, the scapegoating and idea that they "don't care" who the real perp is really bothered me. It would really help if Veronica and Parker actually started developing some sort of relationship.
I agree that it was a strong episode though. I loved the Veronica and Logan, V and Dad, Dad and "client" relationship scenes.
It's funny though--there is a big difference in tone between this season and the 2 seasons prior. They just seem to have a very relaxed pace to them. There's no big "oh my GOD!!!" moments that typified early VM for me. It's less tiring for the viewer, but in some ways it is also a little bit less rewarding.
That seems true (I have not finished my catch up, so I can't be sure).
From what I see, even with the very "intense" storyline, they are keeping it as "light" as possible, which I think is a big mistake. It is less compelling than it should be, and the stakes are too low. Which cheapens the entire plot, and casts the serious subject matter too loosely.

In my addled state watching yesterday's episode, I started thinking that the change of pace in the show was like the change of pace between high school and college. The latter, in terms of scheduling, is a lot more relaxed and less structured. The days don't divide up so evenly.
But you're right, penguin, the sense of urgency isn't quite there. And while I'm fine with the new characters- even Nish had a fun moment with the mousetrap trick- we need to get back to Mac and Wallace.
I also had the notion that they're putting Veronica between the angry feminists and the asshole frat boys to get her socially isolated- the equivalent of 09ers and PCHers in the first 2 seasons. Except the class and race conflict was a lot easier to swallow.
They're also making Veronica herself a little too...glib, I think. Keep her to a few really good bits of snark per episode, instead of too many mediocre bits. And did I mention we need more Mac and Wallace?

I agree, Plum.
I throughly agree.
That was very good obsvertation.
I do agree that last night's episode was the strongest when it came to character expression in that it was strong with Veronica and her father and Veronica's father trying to enter his daughter's life by having dinner with her and Logan.
"The meeting of the Logans" was interesting in thought at the beginning then once the whool was pulled over our eyes, it slightly lost its charm and magic. I don't watch Gilmore Girls, but I knew this had been in coming for awhile. I enjoyed it for what it was. I more enjoyed the "Just Shoot Me" reunion. I love that they brought Lea on to be some what of a love interest to Keith. I found that to be charming and thoughtful.
My only grivance with this season is that as much as the whole mini mystery thing is working, is it just me or do you just want Veronica to solve it so we can move on to a better mystery. This just feels like the episode from season 2 that never ended. I feel we should find out who the rapist is and get this mystery solved. I love the banter that Dick provived last night, but like Plum said "we need more Mac and Wallace?" which from the looks of next week, you'll get you're Wallace.

Did anyone catch the episode tonight? AMAZING! And the promo for next week looks so awesome (and can I add: SQUEE!! Mac!). Is it next Tuesday yet?
As I kept telling my mom tonight--I just want to punch Veronica in her little blonde face. For weeks I've been trying to annoy the little voices in my head, but now I can't. Veronica is on the verge of being completely unsympathetic this season. She does nothing but lash out at everyone around her with little provocation and comes off as a complete bitch in the process. Our girl has always been snarky, but usually with good reason.
As dedicated as I will always be to the LoVe ship, methinks it's time Logan contemplated seeking greener pastures. With the giant stick currently residing in Veronica's ass, he could do much better.
Rant over. Any guesses on the rapist? My best bets are Fern and the RA guy.

MAC = YAY.
Use of shippy names on national television = barf.
So, who do you think is going to die? I'm voting for Lucky Tim the Criminology RA, either in the process of investigating the rapes or because he is the rapist. (Moe the tea-loving RA seems suspect to me, as well.)
I thought the fact that they actually showed "LoVe ÷ Piz = ?" was beyond stupid.
That said, I think poor Lucky Tim has died enough on this show. My money is on Dean O'Dell for the death or possibly his wife.
I still say Moe, Fern, or a combination as the rapist.

See, I'm a horrible person and would actually find it hilarious if the actor who plays Lucky Tim came on as a different doomed character every season. But that's just me.
And admittedly, VM isn't that kind of show. But still.

I think that Professor Landry may be the one to die, but I really don't know.
I was SO glad that Logan called Veronica out on how she expects him to change, but keeps telling him how she is the way she is and "that's not going to change." And I'm embaressed to say that the look on Logan's face at the end of the episode completely broke my heart. He really does deserve better. I can't believe I am actually hoping that he and Veronica break up when for so long I've wanted them to be together.
Also, Patty Hearst is a terrible actress.
YES! I missed last week's episode, unfortunately, but someone filled me in. I can't wait for tonight's.
I have no clue in regards to your first two questions, but for the last three: Yes, I'm almost certain so, and I'm not sure but I can totally relate.
Ok i may cry
Logan did that in the best way possible! I absolutly love him
I love this show

Ok so it was so obvious who was going to die. I called it at the very beginning of the episode.
I love how they did it though, I was expecting just Mo...but it was a good twist. Also that they had Parker be the first to respond and that everyone actually DID come out...I liked how they did it.
I thought I wouldn't like the one entire season mystery because I thought they would not be able to do as much with it...but I really like it. Still action packed and witty and well, Veronica Mars!
Oh and Logan is offically my favorite character. I thought I loved him before...but this is a new level! I wish they had shown what he did to them in that jail cell!
AHHH. It was an amazing episode tonight! I was caught completely off guard by who had to do with the rapes. How eerie was the entire portion of the show from when she went to Carrie's room to when she was in the closet and all that hair was falling down on her. I was gasping and OMGing for half the episode.

I loved that Veronica's "perfect murder paper" was the murder of Lamb!
I LOVED the end of the episode with Logan and his baseball bat. The Obligatory Psychotic Jackass has returned!
I was really satisfied with the resolution of the rape mystery and I really enjoyed the fact that Parker was the one to save Veronica in the end.
And I have one more thing to say: MAC!!!!
GREAT episode!

SPOILERS.
I loved this episode. I'm impressed that they tied in the prisoner/guard experiment with the rape mystery -- and that was pretty well-foreshadowed throughout the season with the Ryder Strong character/Horshack mentions.
Oh, Logan. I don't know if words can describe how I love you. I'm so happy to see badass Logan back. The police car stunt was awesome. And, as much as I love Logan and Veronica together, I was practically cheering when he broke up with her.
I'll miss the Dean, though I'm sort of excited at the prospect of seeing more Wallace/Weevil/Mac. If you think about it, everything with Dean O'Dell took up a lot of screen time. It's sad that he never got to open the bottle of scotch he was saving. I hope they utilize the "perfect murder" papers in the next arc.
