That's progress, Liz! "I wish Mano were here" is a lot better than "Oh look! I see Mano's face in that painting! So let me go make a drawing to commemorate that fact!" lol :p

And oooh...just a feeeeeewwww more hours!

I think that I could spend a year's worth of Saturday afternoons contentedly wandering around the Met.

I thought it was great when I went. I was just with a group of people who were bored out of their minds and we ended up leaving early. I really want to go back.

We went with school and now have free passes for the rest of the year. I totally lost myself in the area with all of the Monet paintings, his work is gorgeous. My friend and I were there so long that we eventually realized that our group was GONE. lol. So...yeah...we were lost in the Met. So I was standing there and as a joke said to my friend "Wonder if there's a lost and found for people." A security guard was behind us and goes "...there's not." and walks away. LMAO. He thought I was serious annnd a total FREAK.

At what time are you leaving? And give 'em hell at the B.O. if they don't sell you the rush tickets! Tell 'em you know for a FACT that they have sold 'em on a Friday before. Or cry. That always works.

And snuggle Mano!! Him and his silly orchids!

"Anything wot's slick sir, soon sprouts curls!"

Watch Mano when he sings that (it's during "Pirelli's Miracle Elixir"). He loves that they "got away" with that line, and does the funniest gesture when he sings it.

Seeing it a second time'll be interesting. Hopefully less of the detail will fly over my stupid little head. But I don't want to be too preoccupied with finding what I think I'm "supposed" to find, either. We'll see. It's like a crash-course in Sondheim, this week.

Hee, I can totally see Mano being amused by that line.

crash course in Sondheim! love it.

If you keep your eyes on Mano, you'll see some really cool, subtle little details he does. It's impossible to notice EVERYTHING in the show (there's way too much going on). But on repeated viewings, it's good to look at the obscure little things.

For example, when the Judge gets on the bench (or the coffin), if you look at Mano (he's at the piano), you'll see a cool little something that goes on that, while NOBODY ever notices, makes you understand this production in a whole new light.

No pressure, though. lol. But look at him in that scene if you remember.

gah, have I mentioned how much I LOVE this show?

I obviously should've talked to you before I saw the show, BroadwayChica! I can just imagine all of the things I missed. I want to go back. *sobs*

Most of these were things Mano told me. I asked him a question about one of those little things he does (he mouths along to other characters' lines), and he got all happy that I had noticed, and then asked if I wanted to know more. So he went through a list of all the little things he does. It's amazing! Most of 'em I'd never even noticed.

The show's going to be around for awhile!! You can go back! :)

And yes, he really does love that "anything wot's slick, sir" line. He was all giddy when he was talking about it. lol. He's such a little kid at heart!

One of the Sweeney threads was just an interpretation of the show...and Chica, all of your posts were the ones that I totally agreed with, so I've read them all like 50 times, lol. So now I know what to look for tomorrow, thanks to you! The Land of Mano, where the violins roam freely.
