Nor is the Raul admiration. He's such a beautiful man.
They totally do look alike, though. I wonder if Mano gets annoyed when people say that.

Well, he's not a bad person to be compared to!

He should be flattered, not annoyed.
#2204The Land of Mano, where the violins roam freely
Posted: 3/15/06 at 5:09pmEhh, Mano doesn't seem the type to get annoyed over something like that.
#2206The Land of Mano, where the violins roam freely
Posted: 3/15/06 at 5:13pmThat's one of those things that seems to come hand in hand with being in a show and having fans. Anyway, Raul is beautious, so it's in no means a bad thing.

From what I've heard about their acting technique, too, they remind me of each other. That whole.... very intense thing they have about them.
It's not like people are saying he's a worse version of Raul Esparza.

I think Mano likes his fans better. Or is at least more warm and fuzzy about the whole thing.

Which leads to the question: who do you like better?
Raul's voice makes me melt, but I've never seen him live or met him. For that reason, I'd say I prefer Mano.

Unanswerable and forbidden question! :)
Ok. I think I like Mano's warm/fuzzy approach better, even though they're both polite. I mean, I understand why Raúl is the way he is, and he's certainly really sweet, but it's natural to prefer the more receptive.
Performance-wise.... I have no idea. I think Raúl's level of talent is simply untouchable, but I don't know who I really like better. I'm horribly indecisive.

I'd say Raúl. I've been a fan for a long time. Nobody can bump his spot on my favorites list
.

Tobias is a great role and Mano does wonders with it, but it's small and not really something that can compare with Raul's body of work. I have a feeling that Raul is bound to be the more versatile actor of the two, but that's not really based on anything since I've never seen Mano in anything else (and it's not like "less versatile than Raul Esparza" is an insult by any means, since... who isn't?).
Anyway, I agree that they're both very intense actors. I could also see them both being drawn to similar (i.e. more complex) parts. I really like actors who delve really far into the complexities of the characters they're playing-- I think the extra thought and effort comes across to an audience in their performances.

Wow. Okay, you know, I think we all post in these places with discretion, but this is also a place to just... let loose and be silly.
I think what you want to do is kind of incriminating, because he might just not have a sense of humor that goes for the sort of silliness that goes on here. I mean, of course he may just be like "aw, that's cute, and not care," but I think you just going "I'm gonna send it to him" puts people in a potentially awkward and uncomfortable position.
I'm not going to claim to know what his reaction will be, or whatever, but look at the reactions of the "regulars" here. Sometimes a little bit of a wall is kind of necessary.
He has a MySpace account. He knows what BroadwayWorld is, I think. He knows he has fans. Do we really need to make some of them feel uncomfortable -- and honestly, under mild condescention -- about it just as a reason to have something to show him? That looks like some weird alterior motive.
I don't want to start a fight, but I think it's just... not cool. And kind of pretentious.

I don't think it's for him as much as it is for fans.
Oops, premature posting:
And even he may be weirded out if he doesn't know the general personalities.
You know how many times I had to explain to people I'm not an asshole, just sarcastic!?
#2222The Land of Mano, where the violins roam freely
Posted: 3/15/06 at 7:50pmI think it's just important to remember that not everyone has the same sense of humor, you know? And personally, I care what these actors think of me.
#2224The Land of Mano, where the violins roam freely
Posted: 3/15/06 at 7:59pmOh-so well said by Emcee and BSo... of course everything you post here should be with the mindset that the actors in question could be reading what you say, but not necessarily that they are.

I do NOT think this girl understands.
Someone fetch the whips! The battering ram! The rack! And an iced-tea, for me.
