Interesting theory on esquire.com that Francis was duped into the meeting by the evil ex-pope Raztinger and Archbishop Carlo Vigano, the papal nuncio to the United States.

Nah -- Pope Sunshine is perfectly safe. He'd only be in danger if he was actually putting any of that smiley-faced BENEVOLENCE into actual practice -- and it isn't exactly trickling down in any meaningful way.

People are posting the "gay hug" on Facebook like it's Princess Diana with the AIDS patients in Africa, i.e. the mere bodily contact of Pontif and {choose your Catholic Correct Qualifier} Person is proof of his magnanimous nature and "tolerance" (how I loathe that word.) A lesbian friend did a tearful "phew!" as in, "Now I can love him again!" I'd like to hear Larry Kramer on this, i.e. someone highly opinionated, truthful, unsentimental and more than a little snide. Of course, that's most of BWW posters, too.
