I've heard rumours that the OBCR was recorded differently than most cast albums, but I'm not really clear on how (my own ignorance, I apologize)
I've also heard that a lot of OBC cast members are not fond of the recording.
What are your thoughts on the OBCR?

trust me - there are MANY b'way performances I wish I could have been there to see..

i.e. JERRY ORBACH in the original CHICAGO (as Billy Flynn) stripping to his skivvies!!!!!

I think he's just great!

This may be a total longshot, but was it not something about the number of mics, or people having to share mics?

How many days were vocals recorded for the cast recording? I remember reading that (I think) a large amount was spent doing it..

Any stories about the recording?

Out of the celebrities who visited the show while you were in it, who was your favorite?

PBS aired Broadway's Lost Treasures II and that was one of the numbers they showed. I believe it's on DVD

i don't remember how long it took...

i can't say if the number of mics was more or less than standard having never cut an album before that.

no real stories - we were all exhausted and trying to get ready for the TONY push...

Hehe I don't think many people will actually call him that... or at least I hope not...

We've sort of bombarded him with questions when he first joined, plus he's on the west coast w/ little shop right now so theres quite a time difference and expensive internet connections in his hotel... not sure when/if he's even coming back

^^ i dont think there's been an actual QUESTION on that thread in DAYS... everyone (myself included, i stopped 3 days ago) has just threadjacked and filled that thread with junk. i think we should just make a new one when he comes back and everyone who is still around can just ask their questions again, SLOWLY...

Mine aren't fully aware of what Rent is. They're the types who believe that all musicals are happy and cute and never have cursing or anything of that sort.

I was almost seventeen... I'd been bugging my parents for years, but in retrospect I'm glad I waited. I don't think it would've meant as much to me at thirteen or fourteen. I went with my dad; he fell asleep. Blah.

considering the amount of times i've played rent blasting through the house (and having my mom come in and ask if i knew what a dildo was @ 12 years old, like the rest of us who have that story), they know that all musicals aren't "happy and cute and never have cursing" unfortunately...

beka, touring productions are the ONLY cure I have against NYC withdrawl
this is the stupid Floridian speaking

but I do have to say this: I was not allowed to buy the CD afterwards and had to wait till my 14th birthday to get The Highlights and my 15th Xmas to get the double disc

and yes - it would be best to err on the side of caution and not find yourselves overly familiar.... it can indeed breed contempt.

gosh - there were sooo many

DIANA ROSS - hello need I say more...?
ROBERT ALTMAN - my personal hero

I'm not really effected by celebs because I've been working with the for years - besides which I consider all people equals regardless of their job, status, income, etc...
but, these two stand out as far as celebs go.
there were many, many others...
