hope I didn't sound like a bitch cuz that wasn't my intention. (has trouble sounding like one sometimes).
I have the same problem - you were just fine...
How do you fill about bootlegs? Do you think they help or hurt theater? Do you fill the same when its of your work?
BOOTLEGS - BAAAADDDD!!!!
Yeah - it hurts - not too mention the consumer gets ripped off alot with bad quality copies
I mean - seriously - there are guys selling bootlegs of movies on the street that have barley opened!!! I hate it really.

Hey Fredi!
I've kinda come into this discussion late so forgive me if this has already been asked... I skimmed all 19 pages as fast as I could but it may have already been asked... Have you seen Rent recently and do you like the "celebrities" that have been put into the roles, if you have seen them? Thanks!
I still say if OBC members are going to be in the movie, they all should be. But...ah well.
Rosario may take a little while to grow on me.
Fredi,
Were there any fans that came to so many shows that you and the other cast members could recognize them after awhile?
Broadway Legend Joined: 11/20/04
i think we talked about "stunt casting" already...
and (to be honest) I don't know who the latest celebs are
(the last I heard was "Scary Spice" - I stopped checking after that)
Producers do what they must to get butts in seats....
Jonathan may be rolling - but I'm just glad it's still open, ya know?

fans that came so much...
Oh Yeah!! Some of them came so much it was really scary...
seriously - we had to be like - don't you have a life? - after a minute
I remember reading somewhere about a fan that saw the show close to 2500 times.
Now THAT is dedication.
*edit*
It may have been something like 1000...I cant remember, either way...

And expensive! How did they afford that?
Charlie
I think I exaggerated (sp?) A bit on the number, I know it was over 1000. But I think the guy just sat outside and did Lottery over and over and over. I can't remember where I saw that story now..

Well, I just thought of a fun question:
How was it recording with Stevie Wonder?
Broadway Legend Joined: 11/20/04
i was asked it i had any really odd jobs before bway...
did I answer that?
We're talking day jobs right?
I've done most everything - including:
waiting tables (natch - an actor's MUST)
secretarial (temped all through college and beyond)
B'way dresser
B'way usher
external news reporter (CBS)
Teacher
Retail sales (including MACY'S at Xmas)
my favorites day-jobs are always industry related and I suggest them to all you actors-to-be out there.
I've worked alot (and still do) as a teleprompter for various tv shows and stations
it's always best to keep your "day-jobs" in the industry if possible. The hours are more flex so you can make auditions and you meet people which is the name of the game after all.

we never met him (stevie wonder) - he was added on electronically later.
as for the 1000th time at the show--
i wouldn't be surprised
there was one guy i swear was there EVERY show i did...i guess the $20 tix made it affordable... but whatever - i still say - dude, don't you have a life?????

Damn, I missed out on all the fun. I guess I'll have my chance next time. But I'll go ahead and ask one of those 'non-creative' questions for next time.
Fredi, dogs or cats?

Hi Fredi!
Macy's at Xmas *bows down to you* I live in Los Angeles and I work atone of the busiest Gaps in the Los Angeles/ Santa Monica area.Oy.. black friday is this friday and let me tell you hell has already begun, I'm am NOT looking forward to my Christmas and New Years at the Gap because I have a feeling it will be a thousand times worse than last year. But alas it is what's getting me to New York in Jan. and sigh...I will be transfering to the 54th and 5th Gap ( and add on to that another job..waitressing at a resturant perhaps,... but really I think I would suck at making coffee).
BTW would you mind me printing out your post on following your dreams and doing what you do as long as you keep faith in yourself? It was brilliant. You helped push lots of doubts out of my mind and re-enforce my determination. I know I can do it and handle it, I know that I wouldn't have gotten this far if I didn't have abilities that might be worth something in the world of theatre. I wouldn't have dropped everything and traveled 5000 miles to London and I wouldn't risk it all by going to New York if I didn't have faith in what I think I can do. My only thing is my family doesn't comprehend that, my mom does everyone else well... just doesn't. They think I'm just wasting time..oh well it's MY time, not theirs, I'm moving not them and I am the one on stage not them.
now to my questions: What was your Rent audition like, and what was the rehersel processes like? On opening night before the show and after the show what did you all say to eachother, could you say anything or where just totally overhelmed by what had just happened on stage? Also have you read any plays by Federico Garica Lorca ( blood wedding, yerma, dona rosita the spinster)?
My dream is to reprise my role as the Bride and play Rosita on broadway or off broadway or off off broadway any where really in spanish and english.
Take Care and have a GREAT holiday!sorry so long!
once again thanks for really taking the time to connect with us, it's not something alot of people would do on a personal level being this the business, so kudos to you!
Melissa
Mel, I am SO happy you're coming to our side of the country. You'll do great at Julliard; they'd be at a loss not to accept you!
"(including MACY'S at Xmas)"
Dear god...mad props, Fredi. My mom worked at a lowly Kohl's here in good old Germantown, Maryland, and she was So frazzled by the end of the day during the holidays, and Macy's isn't a lowly sized Kohls lol.
Hi everyone!
Ok, Fredi, some random thanksgiving-related questionsm and some other totally random ones
1. What is your favorite part of thanksgiving dinner
2. Your least favorite part?
3. If you could live any place for a year, where would you live?

Joel is the guy who has seen Rent at the Neder over a thousand times. He always did lotto and he had a spreadsheet of the shows he saw and what seat he sat in. He's since, apparently, moved to California. I'm surprised more of you haven't heard of him. He's famous in the Rent world. :)

Yay Krissy, Thanks!
O.T:Can u imagine how many JK gigs were gonna get to go to? *grins big* Jan 14th! only 50 or something more days!
The rent guy had a spreadsheet and all?! ...man
JOEL!
Thanks, erinrebecca. Haha. I'm totally shocked that so many didn't know his name.
However, I thought he was doing Wicked lotto for some time? Maybe that's another Joel I'm thinking of.
And Macy's at Xmas? Damn. I thought working at Toys R Us was bad.
ANYONE that works in retail, especially around the holidays, gets mad props from me. People are WAY to bitchy for me to work in a retail store anytime, let alone Christmas. I guess thats why I teach preschool.
And yes, Joel was his name! That is MADNESS he saw the show so many times! I would love to talk to him, to get his RENT perspective. It's obvious he loved it lol. And here I thought I was excessive for seeing the show once a month since July. (with the exception of September and November)
Thats what I get for turning all my friends into fans of Mr. Larson and the OBC. (and not that I mind either!)
I guess I can say the same. Once a month since July, except September and November. 7/31... 8/2.. 10/30 and then 12/4 next. And then 1/7. :X
I was actually turned on to RENT in High School, we performed Seasons of Love for Chorus..but after that, I forgot about it. Then again in COllege during a music appreciation class we actually had a class where we listened and analyzed Rent. Which provoked my term paper on Contemporary musicals. Since that day, I bought my little highlights cd and Ive listened to it ever since :)
I first saw the tour in 2003. And then on Broadway this past July 10th, then I went again with my Rent-virgin friends on August 7th, and then AGAIN October 24th because my Rent Virgin friends loved the show SO much they wanted to go again, and I couldn't refuse lol. I get to see the tour in December in Baltimore and then I am going January 14th. Unfortunately after that, I won't get to see Rent again for awhile, because I'm have one last semester in college before I can hop off to get my B.A> in Journalism.
And now that Ive written an auto biography, I will end here :)

didn't i say that his name is joel a couple of page back? i don't remember, maybe not.
you guys all know that i CAN'T SING FOR MY LIFE, but my sister is singing season's of love in her middle school select chorus group. it has like 15 people in it and she said they're all getting solos. i don't know how that's supposed to work... 15 solos? oh well...
oh, and check this out! it definitely reassures some of my anxiety about the movie, for example... IT WILL BE RATED R! yay
