shub- you know there's no such thing as a threadjack on here
oh. my. GOD...that's NOT ok.
eew.eew.eew
I know, but that was a total departure from the topic. I felt I must share, though. It's too scary to bear alone.

Shub - you just recently became girly? I'm glad the op went well.
Hehe! Well, I meant I'd never been interested in clothes shopping, but it hit me about a year and a half ago.
Update: Michael McKean is apparently also in it.
Uncle Jesse in Get Shorty...*shakes head*
b_s_t, you were born in NYC? *is scared at how little i know about you!* How was the Waldorf? We were going to stay there or the Helmsley but my lazy ass friend didn't want to be on the east side of midtown, so we ended up staying at the Novotel and then the Doubletree instead.
well, not in NYC....Rockville Centre....Long Island
tiff, i have to keep SOME mystery.
the waldorf was soooooo nice...i went with my best friend, and i found us the best deal ever...we got round trip air and 6 nighths at the waldorf for 750 each/
**is frightened by the thought**
How much would the flight have cost separately? Where do you normally book through? I'm thinking of booking my flight packages roundtrip from Seattle from now on - I save over $100!
Shub - We've done that too, staying in a hotel in NYC overnight, because my parents didn't want to leave in the morning. Last year, my dad found a cheap hotel that was basicly clean, and took my brother and me to the city, just so we could stay up late, and visit my grandma the next morning. We're 45 min outside the city, by car. We can't do that often, but its happened at least twice...
yup.
i have maaaaaaaad deal-finding skills.
tiff, my favorite is www.cheaptickets.com
another really good one is www.bargainbuddy.com it links to all the other sites so you can do a cross-search that much faster
hmmm **runs to bargainbuddy to look into travel plans**
I've learned to stay away from hotels.com/hotels.ca/lodging.com, etc. They're all owned by the same company and it's such a rip-off. They find you the cheapest price that's also available on the hotel's official website, and then charge you a hefty service fee on top!
I think the best job I've done before is spending C$380 after tax on a roundtrip flight to NYC - the week after, it went back to the average price of C$660 and I did a happy dance.
yay tiff!
I'm seriously considering becoming a travel consultant if this whole law school thing doesn't work out. It's a true obsession.

I think the best deal I've found is jumping in my sister's trunk, and shadowing her around Manhattan! Yay for leaching off big sisters!!! She's going again next month, BTW! Sssh, but... So am I!
Tiff hun you know love travel consultant stuff..

By the way, Tiff, the Westin is right by Times Square. I can't remember exactly which street, or what it looked like, but it was, um, big, and, um, tall...and er, fab!
tiff- you should combine the two and run a law office/travel agency.
And lots of celebrities will come to see you!
they can have her get them out of their lawsuits and book a flight out of the country.
She'll be the most popular person in town.
popular....
you're gonna be popuuuuular.
I already am the most popular person in town. Unfortunately the town has a population of 20, and they're all of my multiple personalities.
Seriously though, how awesome would that be to be a travel consultant? PAID to travel and plan other people's trips? Oh man. Now if I could be a travel AND food critic, I would die happy.
Ooh! Did I tell you guys the restaurant I'm dining at tomorrow with The Paraplegic et al?
