Who knew there actually was a price that would entice me to buy it?
It's really not that bad when you can just listen to her sing the songs and not have to suffer through her acting performance.
Underwood actually comes off much better on the recording than she did live.
^ That's why you're better off buying the soundtrack instead.

Did they clean up the sound before they released it? I just remember there being a pretty terrible hum through the portion of it that I watched before I got bored and changed the channel.

Isn't this the studio recording? It's not what the audience saw on tv, it's what was recorded in the studio beforehand in case Carrie got laryngitis on the night.
The soundtrack is all prerecorded. They released songs from it before it aired.

I knew that about the soundtrack. I'm just curious what the blu ray/DVD/digital copy of the show sounds like, as I could only assume they wouldn't have released it with the terrible audio that accompanied the live broadcast. However, I'm not curious enough to spend $5 to find out, nor allow it to take up space on my hard drive.

Unless Carrie Underwood managed to look directly at the camera and then later stumbled at the exact same time during both the taped version and the live version, this is the version that aired live. I didn't really watch much of it after I bought it last night, but it does seem like there's less of that dead hiss in the background when people are talking then there was when it aired live.

I'm just trying to determine if this is the movie or is it the soundtrack? I was thinking it was the soundtrack being offered for $4.99.

If you go to the television section on iTunes it is clearly the physical performance (whether it was is the live airing or the dress rehearsal) that is on sale there, not the soundtrack (though that may be on sale as well, I haven't bothered checking because I have just as little desire to own that).

I already own the physical performance with its original mistakes. I don't need the cleaned up version.

It's the tv program, not the soundtrack.
