Just out of curiosity, how many of you really want to know what people think? Seriously. Do you want people to be honest? Or are you just looking for a pat on the back and some ego stroking? I am really curious if you all are trying to persue a singing career and think you are really good or are you just singing in the shower? A couple of you are quite decent. The rest wouldn't make it past the second bar at an audition.
Can't answer for everyone, Sueleen, but I'm just looking for instant gratification, so I'm going to pretend that A.) you heard me and B.) you think I'm one of the good ones.

Leave it to Sueleen to have something sweet and encouraging to say.
Hey Rath, my last post was mainly directed at you. I wanna hear what all the fuss is about. So fix it, please.
Thanks for proving my point, Shameless. Are we just supposed to be supportive and sweet even though some of these people are really quite bad? If you only want to hear good things then say so. I didn't attack anyone personally, but would you say that all these people are good singers? I took the time to listen to the clips that would work for me, (some don't connect anymore) But if you are not ready for criticism you really should not be posting links here.

Honestly, i'm looking for someone to chew me out and tell me exactly what I'm doing wrong, because I know many people here would be excellent critics. I think it's something you have to get used to... unfortunately, my links aren't really working, and daretosing hasn't activated my account, but when they do work (which i'm working on), feel free to rip into them.
take it easy, sue, it was sarcasm, not a judgement of any kind.
Well, you still didn't answer my question, Shame.
Oh, sorry, the couple that I was able to listen to were good. Then again, I can't sing at all, so I really don't feel like I have room to judge. If someone asks me for my opinion, I'll give it to them, if not, I'll either enjoy or not enjoy in silence.
The sound quality isn't the best, some of them sound like they recorded it in the shower.

Ok guys, I think I got Wherever He Ain't to work. The high belts are a bit off, because, honestly, I had to record right after I had gotten some bad news and been bawling my eyes out, but I supose it came out decently. Here's the link again. I'll try to get And This Is My Beloved up too...

Sueleen, for example, I think dietcherryemma is great, how about you?
See, I am not going to name names, because by saying that so-and-so is great you imply that the others aren't. As for the "well, what do I know, I can't sing an note" answer, I can't play baseball, but I know when the Cubs screw up. Everyone has ears. Everyone can enjoy great music and not like bad music. Why do people feel their opinions don't count if they can't do what someone else is putting out there.
I don't make movies, either, but I KNOW that Bewitched was terrible!
Ok, you're right, even people who can't sing have the right to their opinions. I should have said that I don't feel I should criticize because even if I could sing, I probably wouldn't have the nerve to put it out here for everyone to judge.
Oh, and I certainly didn't mean to imlpy that the rest of the people weren't great. I haven't even listened to most.
I'm actually looking for pretty constructive criticsm...that's really the only thing that helps me. If people say, "Oh, wow, that was really good," A) It doesn't help me at all, and B) Then I feel as if I don't have to work on it anymore because it's "good enough".
So if I can't make it past a bar in an audition, just go ahead and give it ta me.

I agree completely Aigoo. I would much rather be told that i'd never make it rather than be given empty praise... but I think what most of us are really looking for is constructive criticism from people who know what they're talking about. But hey- saying "I really enjoyed this" is never bad.
edited to add: And thank you for the compliment, shameless

I suppose. I'm sort of those really realistic people. So if I don't have a shot at Musical Theatre, why bother, you know? But we'll see by the end of this year. I'm really starting to buckle down...new voice teacher, dance, starting to make some money for summer programs, etc. So we'll see...
But I always appreciate criticsm from people who know what they're talking about, as you put it.
Sueleen, has your avatar gone to the boutique recently?

I wish I still had my laptop...it had clips of me singing "Shouldn't I Be Less In Love With You" on it. It was pretty good. I have clips of me singing Defying Gravity (...as a guy, pitiful) and God Save The People-first part atleast. I suck at it. Recording myself just lets me know how bad I really am.
dietcherry, I'm editing my comment. I think you've got the potential to be great. I wouldn't want you to think you were "good enough" as Aigoo put it, and stop working. :)

Yeah, the top notes it Wherever He Ain't are off - the crying previous to the recording kinda stuffed me up.
I look for real criticism. I don't care how mean you are (some girl told me how bad I was last year and just shrugged it off), I want to know how you think I am and what I can do to improve. So for those who've listened to me, how did you think I was?
Rath, I'm still waiting for you to fix your link.
Sorry, shameless! But the talented Thenardier is in the midst of setting up a website for me - go to my proflie, click on the website, and you will be able to listen to those very clips.
Well, Rath, at least you were worth the wait. :)
And on that note, I'm outta here, goodnight all!
Hey guys, I just should have posted here instead of being flamed by the other board. *sigh* Well, my friends and I were bored one day and thought it would be fun to start a Broadway Idol type of thing.
Really quick..if you don't like the idea, no need to...I don't know, be rude about it. *sigh* Hope you come join, after all, this is the voice clip thread, lol.
Broadway Idol
I know we're not qualified, lol, this is just a fun thing I thought all you singers might want to do. It's fun, good for spare time, and it's Broadway related. *shrug*
