I completley agree broadway86, after about an hour, the movie just turned repulsive and awkward. And it's not that I'm prude when it comes to movies but CLOSER really was just.....pig-ish.

RIPLEY'S GAME you say? Was Matt Damon in it or not?

Portman in GARDEN STATE gave the best performance by an actor last yaer - the scene at the airport had an entire audience pulverized!

Voiceanth- it's kind of hard to tell if you're sarcastic or not..if you're not I would not call Garden State's Natalie Portman the best performance all year..it was good but not that good..

Ohh okay. Well yes I totally agree, she's a beautiful, very very very talented actress. But as far as BEST BEST performance goes..like performance of the year? Not so sure. But I do completely agree that she was mind-blowing, always have been, she always makes me cry

John Malkovich played Tom Ripley in Ripley's Game and Dougray Scott was his co star.

Do. For some reason it went straight to video in the US and it's infinitely better than some of the dreck that's hogged screens for months this summer.

Oh no -- I'm looking at the writeup of RIPLEY'S GAME on IMDb, and it's modernized. There goes that gorgeous 1960s period look.

Odd that a movie starring John Malcovich would go straight to DVD.

Aww modernized doesn't sound great. I loved the 60s Italy...the camera did amazing things....

Just finished watching Talented Mr Ripley again as it was on TV here in the UK. It's such an exquisite movie.

Crap, it's nearly 7 years old! I feel so old now. It's really holding up well. I hadn't seen it in a little while so I fell in love with it all over again.

I absolutely LOVE this film, the plot is so original compared to what's out now, and the performances were amazing. Not to mention both the scenery and score were beautiful. And Jude Law was gorgeous in this if I do say so myself. re: The Talented Mr. Ripley. Jude as Dicky in this movie is actually my desktop right now, lol.

Philip Seymore Hoffman is so excellent in this movie!

'How's it peeping Tom?'

That was one of funniest things I've ever heard.

He is absolute raving genius as Freddy. Someone I used to share a house with when Magnolia was released wouldn't see it as she hated PSH. I asked her why, she replied "He was so evil in Talented Mr Ripley". I really didn't know how to respond to that.

I liked Jude Law in AI as well, not sure if anyone else did though.

I adore Matt Damon. And this movie is fantastic.

Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow are fantastic in Ripley. Paltrow breaks my heart in some scenes.

Cate Blanchett destroys me with her goodbye to Peter when she says "no please don't get up". Brilliant delivery.
