Tom - yep - annoying! Friday in July - there will be dozens on their way to O'Hare - however, happy to have tourists for the economy!

Tourists don't really bother me; I never feel like they're trying to annoy. They're just enjoying a city whose "rules" they may not know.
And as for suitcases on the subway, it's just as often New Yorkers leaving the city as tourists coming to it, no? During the summer, not only do suitcases crowd the subway, they crowd the cubicles in my office, too, when folks are planning to leave right after work.

I don't mind tourist in general and a small rollerboard does not bother me. I am talking about the enormous suitcases. One day during 5:00 pm rush hour there was church youth group who were heading out to JFK on the E train...I guess they were leaving. There were like 25 of them spread out over 2 or 3 subway cars and everyone of them had a big ass suitcase and there was hardly any room for people to get on.

9 out of 10 times, tourists are very polite, if a bit slow and confused. We all do that when ever we travel so its good to remember that

During a morning commute a few years ago I remember two men forced their bicycles onto a very, very crowded train headed downtown and were very rude when everyone wasn't immediately accommodating.
